Tactile Immersion - General Discussion - Hardware & Software

Whaaaaaaaaat!!!! mate i can't take the smile off of my face! The level of improvement I felt was like i just dropped another 5k on my rig for some new alien tech, This is truly special mate, I am in awe, amazing! Thank you so much for sharing

I simply mapped A/B/C to the BKC & Q10B and D/E to the TST/MQB1/BKG2 then played with volumes a little but didn't need to adjust much.

Now it's obvious that I don't need to be using the traditional acc/dec gforce effects in conjunction with this. This has also really cleared the seperation when all the effects are going to a phenomenal level. I was using acc/dec g-force along with the slip&load i posted before which was now obviously making it far too busy

How much further can we take this? This is some emotional **** my man!

Is a bit funny, some on these forums will argue/say you cant use tactile to enhance G-load ;) :whistling: :D.

I have never tried to imply that tactile will place tension/force on the body but we certainly can generate immersive vibrational feedback that may help represent what happens in vibrations when a car/chassis is under such G-loads. This is maybe missing with most motion or tensioners and is an area my own effects development will seek to improve on.

I need to collaborate with others to make that happen.

The above was, just an early attempt at looking to apply more meaningful felt sensations for when the car is under high G loads. Trust me, I think know much better is still possible.

I want G load to work in tandem with whatever effects are being developed with the belt tensioners. Ironically as is, Simx with Simvibe that has the hardware does not even deliver this.

We can also either apply mono-based load in the seat but stereo-based slip from the exciters. Or a user with multiple large BK we can indeed if they want have 2 or 4way G-loads work with either front/rear slip or full independent wheel load and slip.

Lots of possibilities, we just need to develop effects a bit further regards the code to then give us the ability to make create/effects to then compare the options. Then the user can use what they want or like best or suits their own hardware installation.

I can compare any operation of effects to one another, once that is the code side of things for the operation of the effect is sorted or fixed if needed. So we then can compare "custom made effects" to using the current offerings but being creative with multilayers.

Upcoming Developments
Some of my beta testers own both seat tensioners and G-Seat so they are for installing 4x exciters (not pucks, sorry Henk) to the paddles. I have been told/shown there is just about enough space. Although developing some form of insert/lid or tray for the hole may offer more room if needed.

An example of why we use the exciters and not pucks is that even this effect here shared.
It may only use upto 80Hz with effect layer values but the truth is, the effect with these multiple layers goes well beyond 500Hz with the harmonics it generates.

So we can maximise this felt detail in sensation with a much more dynamic range being applied, using the lowest Hz from capable BK/Q10B and all the bass detail in harmonics generated upto 200Hz+ with the exciters or TST units.

Here are wip wheel slip settings. I've described shaker type/position in each effects description. I'd appreciate any feedback you guys can give, still learning and trying to improve
Thanks for that example. Nothing I can apply to my setup, nor do I understand much of it, but it is of great interest to see which settings you are using, and the degree to which you are changing some of those settings. For example, I would never have thought a 4 Hz range would be enough to matter, nor, as in the second profile, that a threshold of 15, and a gain of only 10, would do anything at all.

Thanks for sharing!

Hello everyone !
I want to leave a public comment on how I got an unforgettable tactile experience.

First of all, I want to express my deep gratitude to Mr. Latte - for his tremendous work and contribution to the development of tactile sensations in sim racing - you are a FAN, my respect and respect!

And now I want to say thank you and thank Mr. Latte for the work that he spent with me, creating for me my dream - the road to the world of tactile sensations. It was really exciting and professional on the part of Mister Latte and RACE BASS company.

Before meeting with Mst. Latte, I spent a lot of time, effort, money, but I could not get there what I had imagined reading for years - this forum. I had Chinese Auras, mats from Simstudio (Gibert Murei), shaker from Simvibe, and a bunch of different amplifiers and different shakers.

And so I, hoping to get the best experience from tactile sensations, decided to turn to Mr. Latta and to my great joy he agreed to help me build my dream!

I myself live in Russia and everything is very difficult with us with the components))) the components went for a long time:
2 x LFE, 2 x TST, 4 x Daytona, Chipboard, Amplifiers Behind 1000D, 3000D, EPQ304, and of course a bunch of wires + Two independent sound cards 7.1. (this is Stage 1)

I spent a lot of time assembling all the equipment - since there are no ready-made solutions for the Kopit aluminum profile - I myself had to create mounts for special author's spring insulators from RACE Bass (Mr. Latte), which cut off all unnecessary vibrations from the cockpit and sent everything to my body!

I got unique amp and chipboard settings, as well as fantastic SimHub settings that open up a whole new experience for me from all the equipment.

I am amazed at the responsiveness and attention to the details of my project that Mr. Latte shows. For which I express my recognition and respect. Hours of correspondence, video communications - all this helped me understand the world of tactile sensations.
If you ask me if I am satisfied with the investments that I spent on this, then I will say 1000% YES! - this is definitely the best immersion effect that I have experienced and I want to continue to develop it and will buy more equipment soon!

You can argue for a long time that tactile sensations or a movable platform are better - then I will say if you choose either this or that - then I will definitely choose RACE BASS and tactile sensations!

Reading this forum and the endless arguments of people who are trying to prove something to someone - I can say this - I am a simple user and I care about the result and help that can be obtained without reading 100 pages of the forum and without trying to create something better, but only for myself and in your thoughts! - I had everything, I just turned to Mr. Latte and got a result that completely suited me - and I am a very demanding user)))

PS: Excuse me for google traslate))

That looks awesome mate, well done on a very nice looking and clean rig, not even considering the tactile. It's great that we get to hear first hand how much of a great difference it's made for you.

I also love the fact that you look to take your racing very seriously with that level of kit. Not sure if you race cars in real life or not. I can see that you have a G-Belt and are a very big fan of tactile, as am I. I feel exactly the same about motion vs tactile and the steps one should take when adding upgrades to their rig to increase the immersion and also (hopefully) the ability to go faster.

Let's be honest, apart from the actual wheel and pedals, nothing we add is ever going to make a significant difference at improving lap times. I'd argue that most of what we add actually hinders our ability to drive the car fast. However, both the G-Belt (when set up correctly) and tactile 100% add not only immersion but no tangible downside to lap times. So this, to me, is a definitely WIN.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on what you've been able to achieve. I also like the fact that the way you've mounted the under seat units is almost EXACTLY the same as I've done recently, apart from the timber I used vs the steel plates you've used. I might have to swap the timber out one day to see how a piece of profile changes the feeling as opposed to the timber. In my mind, the timber should provide a good platform for the type of device we use, especially since home theater setups recommend the units to be installed directly onto the seat frame in a couch.

Well done mate and hats off to Mr Latte for helping you to achieve a result you're thrilled with. Credit where credit is due.

Less chastising and more constructive criticism and encouragement will hopefully see the number of posts like these rise dramatically.

My BK-CT and TST329 in back are still working beautifully, but as per Rodney's advice I'll be swapping the TST429 to the back when I add the BK-CT to the front.

While the TST429 is doing well up front, it can't go places the BK goes, creating that BK/TST pairing in front will definitely make the feel more consistent between the front and back.

@Mr Latte Thank's for the push and the advice!

I'm still just figuring out how to harness that rear pairing, but it is nothing short of magical when it's done right.

I'm also taking time to learn SimHub a bit better as well. Today I went over a curb and the rumble effect on the curb and then transition to the grass had me completely fooled! I felt like I transitioned from asphalt, to the curb to grass so believably that I started laughing!

I feel like I'm starting to build to Nickolay's excitement level. I've just started seeing what I can get out of the BK/TST pairing and they are a match made in heaven and I'm very excited to get that pairing on the front end as well.

As soon as I get that situated, I'll move on to the 304 and 4 exciters on the seat !

But I am no long just thinking this is great and calling it done. Now my appetite has been wetted to know what this truly can be. I have no idea what those exciters are going to do for me, but I'm looking forward to finding out!

Critics I would wager to say have never executed tactile to this level. Whether it be hardware/isolation/effect creation/layering/volume balance, there are many elements that need to be considered. Also you don't know what you don't know. I mean sometimes, just when you think you are getting it dialed in perfectly you can have a breakthrough and it makes you question what else is left out there to tap into.

If you need an extra hand to test effects and help you gather data I would be more than happy to provide feedback. Also I'm a little excited we just bought a much larger house a little out of the city, enough space to have a dedicated man cave. So I'll be able to finally utilize the Rseat N1 I have in storage. Looking forward to apply what I've learnt in planning the new rig

So I have kept trying to improve the response curves for the 911 in ACC here is my second version I am much happier with. Again I've listed where I've routed each effect to on my rig pedals/centre/mid back/rear to help out and also attached a pic of my volume balance, just so you have an idea.

I'd love to get some feedback from the community, and If people like these I was considering having a go at doing a profile for each GT3 car in ACC and posting a pack. Maybe doing a simplified version also for those with less hardware

I’ll give this a crack, definitely. I’m finally going to start with effects tuning after mounting the new units so I’ll put this to the front of the list. A pack of engine effects for all the GT3 cars would be interesting. There is enough variety there to test if it’s worthwhile having multiple effects for cars. I’ve always just ran one profile and when I had motion I only had 2. One for open wheel cars and one for everything else.

I found that the overall feedback was getting muddied when I used any RPM profile so tended to either have the volume levels very low of even off altogether.

The main culprit for me was the idle effect in any of the RPM sets. I spent far too much time trying to get a nice, full range effect that felt fantastic when sitting stationary and revving the engine, only to find that it overlapped all the other effects once out on track and moving. This is probably due to me not having enough units (2 Concerts + 4 exciters) and too many effect sets.

Not sure if anyone else has tried this but once you are out on track, toggle only the idle effect on and off and see if it makes many of the other effects feel clearer.

It is a balancing act and without the TST's to both share effects with and handle some of the other rpm effects what you say makes complete sense. The rpm effect is MUCH better with a TST supporting it.

What I've found is that I can feel a few more effects out of the TST's individually than the BK's and with the pairing you get a lot more effects by balancing which effects go on each transducer individually and together.

The BK's are pretty limited in the effects they can produce by themselves. They are great for grabbing attention and reinforcing other effects, but they don't have a wide range or the ability to do much simultaneously. The TST's are much more flexible.

I think when we first add an effect we tend to exaggerate it initially just to feel it, but then we have to pull it back to an appropriate relative intensity. I pulled back all of my effects so they would coexist better and things are starting to feel natural to me.

Mark, stop trying to spend my money :D
As the guy who's been saying, "My Aura's are fine" for 2 years, I've recently come to the realization that I didn't know my ass from a hole in the ground with regard to tactile. I did have other priorities that I was working on and that's fine and I'll never tell someone that they need to spend money that they aren't comfortable spending.

I'll just reinforce the fact that the BK/TST pairing makes a dramatic change in what you can feel. I've tried both the TST429 by itself on the front and a BK CT by itself on the back and the BK CT + TST329 was night and day better than the BK CT by itself. The TST 429 alone on the front is also missing something important. They really do need each other to be complete in this task.

You can turn off your rpm's to feel other effects, or you can anti-up and feel it all. There is a cost of admission and I wasn't willing to make that leap for the longest time. I won't twist your arm, but everything you've been hearing ....

Any views on a single BKC + single TST?

I'll probably chicken out before making the investment, but considering a Behringer 3000D along with BKC and probably lower end TST unit under the seat. When the recommended Dayton exciters become available, I may see if I can attach them to my seat mounting brackets (no way to mount directly to my seat), but would be trying to drive them with the cheap Nobsound amp - just can't buy two Behringer's now.

Looking forward to more impressions from @anton_Chez as he progresses with his setup also.

If you are putting them both on your seat, the results will be excellent on your seat assuming you have some seat isolation from your chassis. Lower end TST's I can't comment on. I'm very happy with the TST329 and TST429. I had a TST209 a while back and gave it away, but I also don't think I was driving it the right way so I still can't comment.

Firstly I would like to thank you for putting trust/faith in my approach and methods with tactile. It is quite a considerable investment to come into this level of hardware. We had some hiccups and delays and it has taken as you mentioned quite a bit of time, your patience on this has been excellent.

I still look forward to working with you and other testers, also in the process of getting their own rigs ready. Some experimentation is needed to help discover what are the most preferred ways to place certain effects layers and what effects people like to combine. So I will enjoy discovering what you and other testers will do with your own personal usage of the effects supplied.

This will be the next phase, but you have a head start on some others.

Several users have commented on the quality of the immersion, that this level of hardware, and the approach I have taken with affects creation/development. The positive feedback/reactions have encouraged me that yes indeed this is a big step up from what most people are used to with tactile.

Still much work to do and improvements to come with more effects in the pipeline but your satisfaction in your own words, may also be encouraging to others.

Thanks again.

My wife is not easily impressed when it comes to this hobby of mine and after going for a few laps of Mt. Panorama even she was lost for words.

I agree it's hard to express to people with entry level tactile, how very different the higher end-tactile can be and what they are missing out on. Especially if they feel what they already have is quite good. Yet to get the best from that hardware does need people to follow tried/tested methods.

My perception on this, to achieve the goals we want with tactile, then we need to work towards a tried/proven hardware format and approach to installing as well as isolating. Once we have a fixed hardware solution, the development of effects can be tried/tested with beta testers and any official collaborating company that works with its own people in unison with my own beta testers to develop effects that are made to the highest standards.

At present, the latest effects I have made, with ongoing new effects using my approach in monitoring hardware/software. I do not believe anyone is going to this technical level in trying to develop effects but it's part of a personal mission for my own cockpits goals.

These effects are only being shared with the small group of beta-testers I have and that have bought into the stage 1 configuration hardware. They also have been given the opportunity to purchase the beta/isolation spring solution I am working on. More work is still to be done and coming up with a solution with plates to install the tactile.

Things are still at an early stage, the key is to develop/test the effects but with testers on the same hardware/isolation then we have much less variation in felt sensations when we share/test effects and profiles. This is a key part to help further develop the effects, having good feedback from multiple users. Then if in the near future a solution as a spring/isolation, or tactile hardware packages are made available. Then they will have ready for them a good basis of effects to start with to enjoy.

So anyone here looking to buy into the Stage 1 hardware, they know they will have excellent compatibility with such effects when they are properly made available.

I tried to steer certain long-term members here on the forums, regards installing or buying the hardware/recommended over several weeks/months. Had they placed the same trust/faith into the concept or me and my history with tactile. Then they would already of been in on the beta effects tests and enjoying awesome tactile well before some others.

Kind of frustrating but some want to do things their own way and I have to respect that. Those few people as my beta testers that spent quite a lot of money buying into this. Have an invested interest in the "concept" and as some of them are quite new to tactile are eager/excited about it and this I find often, makes them usually very good testers for feedback as well.

At the moment I have a good range of people into different sims and with some rather nice hardware that I feel will enjoy this journey and hope they can feel part of something.

With you not having the current installation then it goes against the idea of helping to develop the concept with effects being properly experienced/felt as intended. At the moment I need to focus on that....

Better late than never :)

Yes, but using the amps DSP profiles and springs is all part of the "concept" and developing it as a tried/tested eco-system solution.

In fairness, not everyone may buy or can use the isolation solution, but it can be made in a way so, it easily fits popular profile-based rigs sold on the market today.

Some people may do their own installations too but then they cannot be sure to be feeling the effects as pre-tested or intended. Will the effects still feel good, possibly but the focus for group beta testing has to be put into the "intended package" that could one day be made available for people to buy into.
