Is VR dead?

I did have a slow drift to the left in ACC for a period of time but I can't recall that happening for quite awhile.
You can solve that by clearing your environmental data in the mixed reality app. Once that data is gone, the drifting stops. That's what I meant with me earlier post, this is the only issue that I have after every ~2 maybe 3 months of usage. Clearing the data always solves it instantly. It also happens in other titles like Automobilista 2.

My intent was not to make people defensive, but when I expressed opinions I opened that door.

People with G2's have more resolution than I do.
People with Pimaxes have more FOV than I do.
People with Aero's have a high resolution and clear display that is probably the right compromise for resolution/field of view many people for sims.

There are priority trade offs for all of these, and they cover different needs and price points.

We all know these things have a limited life span and until we have headsets that do everything we will be forced to choose what we are willing to compromise.

Pick your poison.

Uh, My post wasn't being defensive , Just putting my experience into the discussion.

I do find it interesting how many shortfalls or inconveniences I stay oblivious to until someone mentions it, But this isn't just VR but across a wide spectrum (the weather is another one...Lmao)

I was more talking about a lot of the recent posts, not you specifically.

VR Headsets are one of many things that people are highly opinionated about.

I think this corner of the internet attracts highly opinionated personalities....

Anyhow, I find most of the various observations and experiences on VR headsets in this thread pretty interesting.

  • some folks get very upset when artifacts are pointed out to them
Being sensitized to notice something you were blissfully oblivious to could upset people who can no longer "unsee" what was pointed out.

As an obvious example. I'm very aware of the glare issue with my Index. I see it about as bad as it can be whenever In Death starts up with white text on a dark backdrop. However in game I've never noticed it.

Other than the DDR5 memory that pretty well matches my system which works great!

The only thing about DDR5 memory is that you don't start seeing a benefit over DDR4 memory until you get above about 6400MHz. So if I were buying new and since the price of DDR5 memory has dropped a lot lately, I would go as fast as I could.

Thanks
I called them about this and I told them to upgrade the powe supply to 1200W since Im reading 850W won’t be enough for the 4090!
Well I really didn’t want to upgrade my pc this gen but at the end I pushed the order button. 4500$ With 3 years of warranty.

Ouch! I completely missed the PSU.
Yes, I have a 1200W in mine as well.
In use I've not seen it pull nearly that much, but better to be safe.

I wonder why Varjo recommends 64Gb of memory on the PC for their VR-3.

Given that I understand the Varjo software is good enough that it can drive more resolution than the G2 at the same frame rate, I'm curious what the VR-3 is capable of, or if that resolution is basically something we revisit with the 5000 or 6000 series GPU's 2-4 years from now.

Just curious for the future's sake, I'm not remotely considering a purchase like that.

Good call. Literally! I was going to reply to your post about this.

No off ear headphones, no microphone and lack of vertical FOV are the initial deal breakers for me. There are a few other issues.

If I was going to get it, I would have gotten it during the $300 off Christmas sale.

All that said I did consider the Aero. It is possible that if they release an Aero 2 with a few important upgrades that I would consider them.

Let me add that some feedback I've gotten by people who checked out the Aero and still didn't buy one said it felt like a very well constructed professional quality product. Compared to one other manufacturer that is a very different view.
Apparently the XR3 is very good
