On the iOpener website there is a very interesting article about an upcoming World Rally Championship simulator:

World Rally Championship's next game: Racing live against rally heroes

The next generation WRC computer game will allow players to 'compete' in live rallies", states ISC chairman Neil Duncanson in the April version of SportBusiness International magazine. ISC, the global promoter of the World Rally Championship (WRC), mentions WRC's ultimate goal as building up an online gaming world championship alongside the real thing.
ISC and the computer gaming industry believe the next step in gaming is this 'live' competition between gamers and real drivers, made possible through iOpener's patented technology.
ISC CEO Simon Long says: "Now we are a global promoter, we want this to be multi-platform, multi-publisher, multi-territory."
For Long and Duncanson the new game is part of WRC's broader efforts to appeal new fans beyond the hardcore enthusiastics. FIA's chairman Max Mosley has said the virtual champion will be honoured at the WRC's annual end-of-season awards ceremony in Monaco.

Last April we already brought you the first news about iOpener Media's beta testers recruitment for their Real Time Racing project.

The news about this technology where virtual racers can compete against the real drivers on the track in real time is now spreading amoung the simracing communities.

About the Mod itself: It's quite nice indeed, lots of potential. I think there's juuust tiiny bit too little grip overall.

And also the AI thing could be nice if it can be tweaked. On the slowest AI you can beat them indeed, but it seems to work like its adjusting the times as you go on the stage. IE I was behind something like 17s for one stage at the last checkpoint before the finish, and at the finish I was less than second off.

I have the same idea and have been looking into the files.
But I can't add new lines to the current camera file (as we can do for other titles) and it seems impossible at this time, sorry.
If I can find a good idea, I'd like to report it.

Yeah, that's how it works: you make the car slippery as hell, almost impossible to drive, and then it's suddenly a SIM...!

I will give the mod a try nonetheless of course...

Thanks for the release of "Advanced Physics Mod".
Really impressive work and I'm enjoying the new physics.
I think this Mod has great potential and am looking forward to the further progress !

ok im going to be a total noob again here what do i do with the EC Sim Hardware folder

am i right in saying you just place the 5 files in the zip in the WRC 3 directory and back up the originals

Correct. Just back up the old .mix files and place the ones from the mod in there.

I agree. And I'd like my old menus back as well. Also the sponsor decals in Road To Glory don't show up in menu or on the car, don't know what happened to them.

Also the starts for the last 3 road to glory boss matches are messed up. When the level loads up your driver just starts revving the engine like mad and it seems like the car is in neutral just rolling slowly. On the cul de turini map your car just slides backwards on the ice and you never get a chance to start. On the greek rally stage you roll forward extremely slowly for about a minute, then once you pass a certain point it gives you control again.

The physics feel great on loose surfaces, but the tarmac stages seem a little too drifty.

Over all it's an improvement, but I don't know why they had to change all the menus, get rid of the decals, and move the change the cockpit cam. IMO those should all be optional things.

I replaced the GFXPAK.MIX file that I had backed up before installing the mod and it restored the default UI while keeping the good new physics... you may want to give that a try.

Still, what you guys think about the AI? I feel like I might continue my champ with the old physics just cause of that. The '0' AI just looks to be so canned. Hopefully it can be tweaked.

Really gonna try this mod when finished D/ling it btw, anybody trying to update the Car looks? seems like the overly high suspension graphic is not that great to look at, especially with all those Minis, so horrible..

The mod feels great. Though I think there must be done some wore work on the grip level. The slide Is quite exaggerated imo. And It's quite difficult to steer.
