On the iOpener website there is a very interesting article about an upcoming World Rally Championship simulator:

World Rally Championship's next game: Racing live against rally heroes

The next generation WRC computer game will allow players to 'compete' in live rallies", states ISC chairman Neil Duncanson in the April version of SportBusiness International magazine. ISC, the global promoter of the World Rally Championship (WRC), mentions WRC's ultimate goal as building up an online gaming world championship alongside the real thing.
ISC and the computer gaming industry believe the next step in gaming is this 'live' competition between gamers and real drivers, made possible through iOpener's patented technology.
ISC CEO Simon Long says: "Now we are a global promoter, we want this to be multi-platform, multi-publisher, multi-territory."
For Long and Duncanson the new game is part of WRC's broader efforts to appeal new fans beyond the hardcore enthusiastics. FIA's chairman Max Mosley has said the virtual champion will be honoured at the WRC's annual end-of-season awards ceremony in Monaco.

Last April we already brought you the first news about iOpener Media's beta testers recruitment for their Real Time Racing project.

The news about this technology where virtual racers can compete against the real drivers on the track in real time is now spreading amoung the simracing communities.

iOpener is still looking for the worlds best simracers to join their beta test program that's about to start soon. If you are interested in joining then you can sign up on the RTR website

Another post, version 0.6 incoming hopefully soon!

Good morning,

We keep performing a indeep research to know what we're able to implement into the next ADVANCED Physics Engine (V0.6).
We also want to coment that we haven't got planned to work continiously until the 1.0 version of the proj
ect.

We hope that the next release (V0.6) comes with really nice and realistic impromements. It will be a solid release to have something really good to drive in the next months.

We are updating all surface & tyres grip levels (Hoping suits this time users taste). We also thing that the first release has in general low grip level.

For the moment, we're happy with the results are getting.

We also improve and update some critical data and also the suspension geometry system.

Since the next future releases, the users will be able to start featuring a realistic physical moment that usually performs (Commonly) and in high range in the FWD cars when are driving around low speed & high inertia sections where the general weight is transfered to the front longitudinal part.

Thanks for reading.

Very very great news. :)

Tried the APE only briefly but found it rather masochistic. Also found that my throttle did not register until maybe 70% depressed and it was like an on/off switch. Steering was highly sensitive too. I'm using T500 RS wheel and G27 pedals with Leo Bodnar cable. When I switched back to the original game everything was fine again. Anyway, maybe it just needed some tweaking. I'll leave it for another day.

Nevertheless, can't wait for all planned developments; triple screen, up to 15 controllers, h-pattern shift (yes PLEASE). If these come through, it's time to make another donation ;)

I had a lot of fun with the game 'out of the box'... think I will stick with that. I don't really feel the need to make the game more difficult and only annoy myself... ;) Nice effort though and it's great mods like these exist for those who want them!
That's true. IMHO tarmac grip shouldn't be lowered. On wet or icy tarmac you lose lots of grip at higher speeds though. But on gravel I'm not so sure, the default game makes it too hard to go sideways except when you use the e-brake. I think there's still some potential :) . Not sure about snow surface - snow is so different depending on depth, temperature and so on. On a smooth, driven stage it can be quite similar to drive as gravel (on fitting tires of course)

Same issue here. Crash on game launch. Have searched and searched for a resolution but nothing that works for me. Most suggestions involve changing sound to 2.1 from anything else. Obviously the game works for others but not on my machine. EVERY other sim and game I own works perfectly. WRC 2011 runs fine. WRC 3; not so fine. Can anyone help a brother out? Anyone else experience game crash on startup?

After trying this mod, i actually did not like it.. Especially with the unsynchronized Wheel view with the actual wheel (still 200 deg in the cockpit view?). maybe that's the game limitation but even so, really hoping for original steering lock keep in place, or the rotation inside cockpit view needs to be updated. Either way, i chose to stay with original, just for sake of having fun ;) and indeed, different setup can improve your time tremendously.

I have DFGT and just wanna share that the in game Feedback is not good in my setup, seems like no bump on the road, so i activate Logitech's Profiler and it is much better with Logitech's one, not as floaty as before.

Well, I do get some sort of crash at startup (the game gets stuck in the first loading screen, even before you see all the copyright text) but that only happens if I played other games before or even if I have played WRC 3 before. A complete restart of the PC always solves the problem. Seems that WRC 3 likes a freshly started system. ;)
