On the iOpener website there is a very interesting article about an upcoming World Rally Championship simulator:

World Rally Championship's next game: Racing live against rally heroes

The next generation WRC computer game will allow players to 'compete' in live rallies", states ISC chairman Neil Duncanson in the April version of SportBusiness International magazine. ISC, the global promoter of the World Rally Championship (WRC), mentions WRC's ultimate goal as building up an online gaming world championship alongside the real thing.
ISC and the computer gaming industry believe the next step in gaming is this 'live' competition between gamers and real drivers, made possible through iOpener's patented technology.
ISC CEO Simon Long says: "Now we are a global promoter, we want this to be multi-platform, multi-publisher, multi-territory."
For Long and Duncanson the new game is part of WRC's broader efforts to appeal new fans beyond the hardcore enthusiastics. FIA's chairman Max Mosley has said the virtual champion will be honoured at the WRC's annual end-of-season awards ceremony in Monaco.

Last April we already brought you the first news about iOpener Media's beta testers recruitment for their Real Time Racing project.

The news about this technology where virtual racers can compete against the real drivers on the track in real time is now spreading amoung the simracing communities.

iOpener is still looking for the worlds best simracers to join their beta test program that's about to start soon. If you are interested in joining then you can sign up on the RTR website

I bought a G27 yesterday and of course I also want to use it with WRC 3. I remember reading about things not working, like the shifter, but I don't think a game like this can be played very well with a shifter anyway... (Afaik real rally drivers also use sequential shifters on the wheel nowadays...?) I was wondering though what would be the best settings when it comes to degrees (900 too much?) and force feedback. Or is this all completely subjective and personal...? I only used the wheel with ETS2 for now and 900 degrees feels totally real in that game (in which I of course also use the shifter). Are there general rules that can be applied to certain settings for specific kind of racing games or does it all depend on how the game implemented the controls...?

Mostly up to you, your preferences, and the game.
I wouldn't go too high, since it's rallying, and you'll have to change direction fast and often. I use 540 in Richard Burns Rally.
And yes, they use sequentials.

The only general rule that comes to mind is smaller rotation for open wheelers, up to 360 or something, and higher rotation for regular stuff.

But as you said, it's about the game too. Had problems with higher rotations in Shift 2 for example. I suspect it will be similar here, Milestone don't have a good track record with wheel support. Don't own the game, so can't help there.

Ok, clear, so you simply have to try something and see what works and what doesn't. Pity there isn't some sort of standard for this. ;) Good to know about that open wheelers usually using smaller rotation: that helps a little already!

Hello, Alvi84.
Thanks for your comment.
Yes, it's possible and actually I'm working on it as "Action Cam". Here is a preview pic.

wrc3actioncamtest.jpg

The problems are we can't display ...

- Co-Driver
- Driver's helmet & body

in cockpit view at this time. So, as seen in this pic, we can't move camera position to backward from this point.
Anyway, it's enough fun to play as it is.
It needs some more work and testing. I'm a bit busy lately but I'd like to continue to work on it. Please give me a little more time.
Thank you :)

This is a GREAT JOB! Really!
I have got a lot of patience so I can wait.

Thank you very much.

New updates:

Here we are, another Friday is going up!

Talking about WRC 3 - ADVANCED Physics Engine, there are some interesting news.

In the last two evening / night, we manage to work on the scheduled task. There were 12 hours of hard work in total.

It's a really hard to find the best feeling under the car, tyres and steering system becouse the parameters are in binary format and it's neccesary to use some "RE" techs to understand those but we are using all our knowledge to made is posible. We need to update 6 more car physic parameters to have a FULL working ADVANCED Physics Engine! It's great, isn't it?

In another hand, we also work in a "EC Sim Hardware - UI Menus".
It was a personal decision to suit our more Professional and real looking style. We use our brand logos to promote our work and real WRC 2012 photos for the rest of the menus.

Resuming: We modify the UI deleting the DiRT style looking with all his "not real drivers" and his final batles.

We're really confident that our WRC 3 - ADVANCED Physics Engine first version will be available soon (REMEMBER: The first version will be FINAL 0.5) and our question is ...

DO YOU WILL GO TO DOWNLOAD, INSTALL IT AND COLABORATE WITH OUR DEVELOPMENT TEAM TO IMPROVE IN THE NEXT RELEASES?

WE WILL SEE HOW MUCH RALLY SIMULATION FANS WALKS AROUND HERE ... !

Thanks for reading.

We forget to clarify that EC Sim Hardware is not working in anything related with the WRC 3 (PC) sound system. It's true that we're are developing some researches about it but nothing more.

The ADVANCED Physics Engine will contain NEW ADVANCED vehicle dynamics, tyre, suspension, FFB & surface physics.

About the NEW UI design, we haven't got clear if it will suit everyone. For it has a really Professional, quality and balanced design. We will upload a sneak preview about it.

We will be interested in have your opinion to choose what to do with it!

Thanks for reading.

Some more things to coments ...

After we finish with the first release version (0.5) of the ADVANCED Physics Engine for the WRC 3 (PC) title we will start another interesting project.

Note:

WE ARE NOT SURE if our ideas and implementation process will be sucessfull but we will try to develop and add some important features to the WRC 3 (PC) title engine like:

- Triple Screen / Eyefinity.
- Mult
iple Controllers (Up to 4).
- Clutch.
- H - Shifter.

For the moment, you can start dreaming and wishing us all the good luck out there ;)

We will keep you updated.

Thanks for reading.

iv given up on looking for a solution to use the H shift now and use the paddles insted and i use the H shift as handbrake 4th gear works a treat

as for the degrees settings i aint got a clue im a bit of a noob with this sim racing only been doing for a month or so

It supports more than one, but it's totally hit or miss what works and how it works IMO. I have a Clubsport wheel that works fine, TH8RS set up as handbrake that works, Clubsport pedals hooked up stand alone to USB that work but have a 70% deadzone that I can't get rid of, doesn't recognize my DSD sequential so I have to use paddles to shift.

Really hope they work out the controller issues with a patch soon. I can play, but it's not ideal.
CPS on USB works?, hmm nothing works here, I have to plug my CPS directly into the wheel or it doesn't register anything. and I can't configure them . Love the game to bits. sorry for the confusion, my experience is only 1 works, but as others here have said. the TH8RS works for their handbrake, mine for some reason didn't even recognized it.

the CSP also needs to be plugged in direct to the wheel instead of usb.

andrew try to change the audio settings in windows put 2.0 or 2.1 in control panel, i had a similar problem in rbr i had 5.1 or 7.1 in windows and didnt listen to codrive cause it wasnt asigned to front speakers same in game look through menus and choose 2.1 or 2.0

cant see this opption for 2.0 or 2.1 im using G37 USB head set nothing in the logitech gaming profie as well it works fine with speakers

i use on board sound and the g35 has its own built in sound card and theres no opption in the headset softwaer to change this to 2.0/2.1 its a 7.1 head set and the game should support this but the devs didnt think that some plp would want to use a USB head set

Thx Tommi-TAG:)
On the video, there is no movement in the cockpit.I disabled this feature in the game but camera moves when I play.
Thanks for your suggestion, Sébastien Degraeve.
I wanted to make a video without displaying the "Split Time (displayed in the center of the HUD)", so I used the replay's onboard cam.
At this time, we can't disable the camera movements while playing and I should have titled "Replay (Onboard & TV)", I'm sorry. And I've changed the title of the video now.
But still, it may be a little confusing as a preview, so I decided to remove the video from my first post.
Thanks again for your kind advice :)
