thanks for the racing tonight guys.
I spent most of the week overdoing practise for the fsr winter series finale at silverstone and just tried this properly today. even with hundreds of laps, i would probably still struggled at this track.
Despite this, i really enjoyed the racing. I had to go high downforce and rely on others to make mistakes.
in race 1, martin made a mistake and i outbraked him into turn 1. however, because he clearly had the pace on me, he did a nice return pass. next i had april following me and i was under pressure. somewhere i was fining a bit of pace and increased the gap -think april had her hands full keeping someone behind her and then got tagged.
late on, martin seemed to be slowing (tyres?) and i was right on him every lap. the problem was, the dirty air was killing me and then on the straights, i didn't have the speed or the best exit. i kept closing but in the end, made a mistake which allowed nicky to overtake me. i held on for 9th which was pretty decent in the circumstances.
race 2 was interesting! i braked for turn 1 and got spun out. not sure if it was matt sentell as he pitted later. doesn't matter whoever it was as i returned to track in last place and with all wings in fullworking order! then i had a nice battle with david o' for a few laps. i kept closing in certain places but again, on the last corner, the dirty air was killing me and i just didn't have the speed. i made a mistake and spun on one occasion but came back.
i noticed that every time i had issues with dirty air, david seemed affected too. this seemed to happen yesterday in the fsr race. i can't see why it should happen in reality, but is it possible that in the game, the car in front also gets affected? i noticed that when i got dragged off in the final turn, david went off too. same happened with another guy at copse yesterday.
Anyway, in the end, i overcooked the throttle on turn 3 trying to get on the power. this damaged my front wing and suspension. i crawled back to the pits but even after fixing damage, the wheel was at 45 degrees to work so i retired.
lots of fun and clean, honest racing. i think the group of guys here is starting to resemble the spirit i saw in the f1 2011 league and is perhaps because some of the guys are from Presto GP? i look forward to Bahrain, a track i know well and like . VWEC memories eh @
Frederic Schornstein ?
Well done to the winners and well..everyone. see you at bahrain.
p.s. does anyone know the standings in this series?
