Hey guys.Ive always wanted give this mod a try but when once i had installed it everíthing came on as per 2013..Now..Is there any way to use this mod properly with the original 2012 season?

Install everything but the database to use this mod with a 2012 version of the game. Just keep in mind a fair portion of the AI's strength comes from the database (ai_driver table, and f1teams table mainly). So feel free to open up the default database and make the ai_driver table look like the ai_driver table from my database. Then you should be on your way.

Hi snthennumbers !!! Thanks a lot for the great effort you've put into developing this mod :) , although I haven't tried it much. I am trying to use this with the vanilla version of F1 2012. So what I did was to copy everything from your mod to my F1 2012 folder except the database folder.

I also have Demy's realism mod with me. Can I use the DB file from that one alone? Will that affect the AI? Also, what exactly does the AI difficulty setting in the 'options' screen do? If I adjust settings there will it overwrite the mod made by you? I've finished one career season with amateur difficulty and I am now trying intermediate (tried professional as well, but it's way too hard even with mclaren :().

You also say that for the full effect of the mod, we should have vtek1's 2013 mod installed. Well if I don't, then what are we missing? I prefer to keep only your mod installed for now with max benefit. Please suggest.
If this has already been answered elsewhere, kindly redirect me :) I will take a look there.

And one final thing...how does the safety car mod work now? I believe you already have it incorporated in your mod.

Thanks once again :D

You can use Demy's database with my mod. Ideally you want the ai_driver table to look like mine in order to get the maximum competition from the AI. AI difficulty in the menu simply selects between predefined modifiers for the AI. Check the ai_driver table and you'll see entries for Legend, Expert, all_rounder, and poor. Those rows will have "global modifiers" for each driver aspect. So for instance look at speed_in/out and compare my values to default...you'll start to see how it works.

Without v1tek's 2013 mod, you'll just be missing the database, which I discussed how to correct above.

Yes it's already included, it's the track folder. There are also some settings in the database that need to be adjusted if you're not using my database (track_model table --> safety_car_chance, safety_car_chance table, safety_car_deploy_count table)

Thanks once again :D
Hope you enjoy it

hi,
just a little question, I installed vtek's 2013 mod but I already went through the drivers test and began to qualify/race in Melbourne. If I install your entire mod (db included), will I have to start all over again?
Thks for the openness btw

I also play with vanilla 2012 and it seems to me that AI is too slow.
Even on highest settings they not quite where they should be.
I'm not familiar with manually editing database file so...is there any chance for you to upload your 2012 edited database or - is there any link for some one's else that will make them faster and more compatible with your mod ?
Thanks in advance.

edit:
Also, what is "decals" folder for and can I go without it. Somehow... it looks to me that it's related
with 2013 season only. But maybe I'm wrong. Sorry if it's already been answered somewhere.
Neither do I understand what is raceload.jpk (and is it needed with 2012 season only) and why there's 50 and 100% database in 2.7 pack.
It would be nice to have some "readme" file INTO zip file itself. Just an suggestion. Now we have readme for proper Lotus livery installation (which I don't need on the first place since I won't use 2013 liveries) but not some general readme.

Speaking of database, I still struggle what the rows "poor" "allrounder" really do, I mean: When are they active? Is it sth. with the selected difficulty or when and how do these values affect the drivers' values?

You should not need to restart. Backup to be safe, but my database is built upon the database included with v1tek's 2013 mod, so they're essentially the same, aside from the performance tweaks I've made.

Poor is Easy difficulty, All_rounder is medium difficulty. So in the ai_driver table you take the aggression, speed, control, etc stats for a driver, and multiply them by the "poor" and "all_rounder" values...that's what constitutes the drivers being more "shy" on lower difficulty levels.
So what I did was to make the drivers as aggressive and fast as they can be all the time by setting most of the global modifiers for Expert, all_rounder, and poor to 1, and let the values in the track_difficulty table determine where the driver's speed actually comes from. This way, even though the drivers are slower on the lower difficulty levels, they still are just as aggressive and try to overtake

I'll try and find some time to make a modded default database.
50% Database is for scaled tyre wear on 50% and lower distance races (don't do 100% distance races with this database)
100% database means there's scaled tyre wear as per the 2013 season when compared to the 2012 season. So the tyres still wear out faster than the default database (aka 2012 season), but you can still do a 100% distance race.
Decals folder is only related to car damage. It determines at what speeds terminal damage occurs, as well as what speed collision constitutes scrapes and tyre marks showing up on your car.
There's no readme file because the overview page really explains all you need to know, but no one reads it :(

EDIT:
The raceload.jpk file handles the ability to install the lotus livery fix. But if you don't install the lotus livery fix, it'll still work, even with 2012 cars, dont worry. It also handles the wear rates of the engine, gearbox, and other components.

Thanks for the advice "snthennumbers"... So this is what i did now:

1. Copied all your files into the default f1 2012 folder except the database.
2. copied the database file from demy's realism mod (career version) as it already had the values for the safety car mod. I was not Keen into tyre scaling as i do only 25% races, so dint install the other version of the database.
3.opened his database with ryder's editor and modified the ai_driver table with the one from your database. I did a simple copy and paste for only f1 2012 drivers (dint modify for drivers like rubens b or nick h or esteban g). I left them alone. Also modified the global modifiers from your file.

That's it. Will this give me the full AI effect from your files or is there anything else that i need to modify? Also, what happens to the player cars engine wear, gearbox wear, blown radiators, exhausts, etc. is this taken care of or do i need to modify anything else?

I can probably post the modified database file on this site for people who want to use this with the vanilla version of f1 2012 and of course i would like you to verify this first :) to make sure everything looks fine. I'm no big coder or anything but can just follow some basicn instructions :)

Thank you !!!

Engine wear, etc is handled in the raceload.jpk file. Just install it, doesnt matter if you have a 2012 or 2013 version.
the ai_driver table you'll need to be careful with. The 2013 drivers like chilton, gutierrez, etc are actually modified drivers from the 2012 season's ai_driver table.
So for instance I think Kobayashi is Gutierrez now when comparing the default and my database.
You kinda need to go driver by driver to be sure you're adjusting the correct driver. So for instance you say you didnt touch Gutierrez, but in reality you need to, because his ID correlates to another driver in 2012. So keep an eye on the "name" column (which you can change as you need, doesnt affect anything...just helps you see which driver you're actually dealing with), but then keep an eye on the ID column so you know which drivers have been changed from the default 2012 database compared to mine. So look for the ID first so you know you're working with the same rows from the default DB compared to mine, then change the name field as needed. Then adjust stats as per that driver's ability in 2012

I hope that made sense lol
