Well I saw you're using the Realism Enhancer mod so it seems you moved on already, but I'll ask anyway. What difficulty were you on? Did you install the cars folder? I just did qualifying at Canada (a track I'm good at), with a custom setup, as Bottas, on Legend and I qualified 18th.
Also, you probably haven't read through this thread, so I'll clue you in. I'm going to assume you were doing a race at Melbourne in Career Season 1. If so, remember the AI cars around you are not fully developed cars. As the season progresses, and as your career seasons progress, the cars around you will get faster. Did you only do one race in career mode and then declare that Williams is too fast? Maybe try a few more races, or better yet a quick race with Williams and see if you're still too fast.

Hey.

I installed everything correctly and read the readme files before. The 2013 mod worked well, I saw all the skins, they were the new drivers and so on. I am playing on "Expert" difficult.

And yeah, of course I tried some other races. I won Australia and won Malaysia. Then i tried Quick Race with Williams and with ferrari i got pole again, 2nd one got a ~1 second slower time. I tried different circuits and different teams and even tried it with the default setup because in your starting post u are telling that it is more challenging. But 1.) it was too easy aswell and 2.) I want my car to feel well and dont want some Handicaps. I downloaded the True to Life Mod again to check and reinstall but yeah...it is still too easy.

So i moved back to Vanilla F1 2012 and installed the Realism Enhancer. Much better gameplay for me.

Well why not try Legend difficulty if Expert is too easy? I did a few quick races with Williams on Legend difficulty and was down towards the back of the pack each time...on tracks that I'm good at.
But hey, to each their own

USA - I can confirm the AI drops two seconds in sector two nearly every lap due to running wide after the DRS straight.

I'll look into this, thank you for the feedback and testing. The braking points are from hill's Competitive Braking mod so it's his work, but I'm learning how to modify the track files so hill and I will get it fixed for ya one way or another

Expert is Legendary. Expert is the name for the whole difficult option and the AI is "Legendary". :)

No, just a PS3 Gamepad on PC. My wheel got broken a while ago. So with a wheel i can drive a half second faster easily.

Very strange...I use an Xbox gamepad with assists (TCS and ABS) and in a Williams I can't keep up with the field very well, let alone win a race. With Ferrari I'm 3rd place or higher in quick races, Williams I'm down below 10th place.
You're 100% positive you're installing the cars folder correctly? Because I changed the mass of the Williams car for the Player from 650kg to 670kg. 20kg may not seem like much, but the Marussia and Caterham cars are both 680kg's, and Williams is slightly better than them in real life...

With the Realism Enhancer mod, where do you finish in a quick race with Williams? (qualifying and race)

I think, the mass does not affect anything, I tried it with setting to 100, no speed change at all even 2000 didn't do anything ... imho mass is same bad joke as engine_power in the database

Are you talking about the mass setting in the database? Or the CTF files?

EDIT: Nevermind I don't see a mass setting in the database. You're saying changing mass in the CTF files does nothing?

Seems so. I tested with Marussia and Caterham and i can get pole with them too, all assists off.

Something isn't right then, or you're an absolutely amazing driver...
This whole mod was designed to make it so that you won't be getting pole, or even close to it with back-marker cars.

Can anyone else confirm or deny that if you are racing a Williams, Caterham, or Marussia, that you are (or are not) qualifying near pole in a quick race? Full qualifying, or short qualifying, doesn't matter.
Preferably with some screenshots...maybe some post-race screenshots as well if you could.
Thanks in advance

Mh, i am 99,9% sure that i installed everything right. And believe me i am not that awesome :D But i won't downlad the 2013 mod again, i have a bad and slow connection. Like i said i am happy with the other mod. :)

Yes, I do say so, set mass to 5000 for any car and it will still drive the usual speed ... same when you set engine powers to 100 the car still drives at usual speed.
I have currently all cars with same .ctf files ... only aero_xx values do change the speed and handling, forget about all the rest - ofc the ai_drivers take effect as well but speaking of cars only, it's a bunch of crap.

Ah btw. did you notice ai overtaking you under yellow flag? Just had it a few races ago, I got a penalty while two ai drivers overtook me at the same spot/time ...

I'm going to need to get confirmation from other people that they're able to win races with back-marker teams because as of right now you're the only person who's mentioned having this problem

Are you talking about the CTF files in the "balanced" or "track" folder?
And I can't say I've noticed yellow flag issues where the AI overtakes you under yellow flag conditions. 2 AI's passed you and you got the penalty??

If I am not mistaken, balanced (its name confuses me still) is for the players' car and track is for the ai cars, so I always edit the track files and copy into the balanced ones to be on par, still all are the same :D
Nah, I passed a slow car under yellow, got the penalty at the very same time two ai cars passed me, they didn't get any penalty - I was driving until the last possible round to do my drive through, none of the two cars went into the box.

Back when playing on xbox 360 I was sure, the ai overtakes under yellow but I never got a clear situation, this time the ai sometimes does it. I wonder which value in the files could be edited in that case.

balanced is for the AI's cars, track folder is for the Player. So what I did was leave the stock mass in the balanced folder (for the AI), and made the drivers worse via the ai_driver table in the database so as to match 2013 results. I could've made the AI's cars worse and left the drivers alone, but it's nice having some drivers have a higher mistake rate so you get some drama during the races.
Conversely, after some feedback, I found that Williams and some other cars weren't matching real life performance when the Player was driving said car...that's why I increased the mass for some cars in the track folder (for the player remember)...I felt that this worked for sure.
Last night I did some qualifying at Canada (my favorite track, which I'm pretty fast at) and in the Williams as Bottas I managed 12th in qualifying with a custom setup. I restarted the session and drove for Ferrari, same setup, same difficulty (Legend), and qualified 1st.
Obviously the aero values are different from car to car, but the person who initially brought Williams being too fast to my attention has not mentioned the car being too fast since I released version 1.8 which corrected that issue.
I'm at work right now so I can't test, but I'll check it out later tonight. I'll see if I can replicate the issue you're having with the yellow flag situations, but off the top of my head I can't think of anything I would've done to the AI files to cause this behavior... I would venture to say that how the AI acts under yellow flag/safety car situations would be hard coded within the exe.
In the database > rule_ticket_values table, I didn't touch the "ignoring_yellow_flag_loss" values - they're still default...so that wouldn't be an issue.
I also cant see any parameters in the ai_driver_config.xml file that would do anything related to yellow flag behavior....very odd to say the least.

Oh, balanced was for ai? Hm, gonna test it again, always thought it was counterwise.

Well like you said it wouldn't matter much for you since you copy the CTF files so that you and the AI have the same car.
But yeah go make your favorite car's mass = 680 in the track folder and see if you can qualify 1st at some tracks with the car you just changed.
Let me know if you would
