Misc True to Life AI 2013 Season 1.4

Hi,

I've now installed v1tek's mod and your mod in the order you described, but I've found that the AI is quite slow. For example, at Melbourne I'm lapping in the 1:26s in a Sauber, while the fastest AI is usually in the 1:27s in qualifying on Expert/Legendary,and my team-mate is another 2 seconds back. Is this kind of time normal?

Edit: just to double check, this was the order of installation: vanilla -> v1tek's mod (minus Pirelli folder) -> realism mod with 100% database (and excluding the cars folder, which was added after YDT). I didn't install the Lotus mod.

Been discussed already. Season 1 Career races give different results because the cars are not fully developed.
Later on in your Career, and with quick races, the results will be more realistic since the cars are more developed.

Also, for whatever reason, Sauber is a very fast car in Career Season 1. I chose Sauber too, and I'm currently second in the career standings. I usually qualify in the top 10. You'll have good races, dont worry.

snthennumbers, do you have any idea what I could do now?:

I've set the track_difficulties so that quick races are par on my skill but when I start a new career I reach 1st place with Lola (Marussia) [685kg, so 25kg heavier than the rest and 50kg heavier than the top] in Q1 and Q2 which is hilarious ... at Q3 the AI starts to race for real times so I keep being on 10th place but I don't want to be on such a high grid ... how can I increase the AI's Q1 and Q2, do you know?
I tried filling "qualifying_1_time_id" and "2" with values from "3" but that made the AI even slower, lol.

I see. Thanks for the heads up. I experience the same issue in quick race mode as well, for what it's worth.

Edit: did a bit of testing. Ran full qualifying with same settings with some of the default teams in quick race mode. In addition to Sauber, the problem exists with Force India, Williams and to a lesser extent Torro Rosso - gap to teammate around 1.5s in all apart from Torro Rosso, which was around 1s. Seems to be linked to the issue of the times recorded while in the garage not being accurate (slow), which I believe was mentioned earlier in the thread. Not sure if any of this information is helpful at all or if this is an isolated problem.

Edit 2: tested more tracks, inconclusive at the moment. Some tracks - such as Shanghai, as you posted earlier - work pretty well. Others less clear. Australia seems the worst offender though.

omg...just discussed this. Why don't you people read? Career races will give you mixed results because the cars you're racing (especially towards the beginning of the season) are not fully developed. Sauber seems to be the exception to this, but I think this is partially because they take an aggressive development path.

So are you qualifying first in a Force India, Williams, or Torro Rosso? Probably sometimes in a Sauber right?

Speaking about reading ... did you skip half my text and replying before reading what my question really was?
btw. may you'd have noticed I possibly wrote my post when yours was released ... I can't read new posts and write text at the same time, may you can.

But back to topic, question for AI, in Melbourne the AI seems ultraslow when coming out of the box, I often crash into their back when I'm coming out of the box at the same time - and when I don't, the AI comes out so slowly, some other AI on its fast lap crashes into them. Did anyone else notice this?

Depending on the track, all of them.

Some tracks seem to work fine - for example, at China both my time and the AI time roughly match those of the screenshots you put up earlier. At other tracks, like Australia, I'm qualifying on pole and racing at the front fairly easily in the above cars. Just to clarify, this is quick race, 100%, expert, dynamic. Same issue in career, however.

I'll do a bit more testing and try and get back to you with more useful information. I've reinstalled the mods a couple of times without any benefit.

It's an issue with the racing line there. The AI also goes extremely slow into the box at Singapore for example. I'll see if there's anything I can do about it

As for qualifying times, its dependent on the grip levels for each session. See the track_model table in the database. Each session the AI and you have a specific amount of grip to work with, so you may just be better an managing with the decreased grip levels.

Maybe try Legend difficulty and see how things go. Otherwise you may need to adjust the values in the track_difficulty table in the database on a per-track basis.

Well with a 3 lap race there's no room for tyre wear or fuel load changes, etc. So it's not too hard to see that happening. What care were you driving? Did you do qualifying? Full or quick qualifying? What position did you qualify in?

More info would help.

Thanks for response. I drove Lotus, I did not do the qualifying and I started the race on 4th place.
Maybe I just need to drive more and see what happens. I didnt know that all those kind of things affects to the mod.

Heres a question. I always liked playing 75% races. So if I want to install the database I need to decide between 50% or 100% races?

Yes correct. if you want to do 75% races, open the 100% database > track model table, and change the "num_laps" column to [value] x 0.75.
Then adjust the "tyres" table so the values fall between my 100% and 50% values.

Cheers
