Tactile Immersion - General Discussion - Hardware & Software

How is your sound card configured in Windows?
Quadrophonic or 5.1, 7.1 etc..
If it is set up as quadrophonic, only the first four channels will send sound.

Hi guys/gals. I use simhub with my buttkicker gamer 2 but noticed when I switch to youtube to listen to music and instead use audio files the intensity of the BK gamer 2 seems to be much much more - its as if the buttkicker can do more. The feel from an approaching helicopter is like brill on a video. I've tried simhub and sim shakers wheel and they're good but before i pay for it I'm wondering does simvibe do things better, things differently. Would it be a step up? Dunno if there's anyone who owns it who can give some feedback on this?

I had SimVibe first and a couple years back it did have an advantage over SimHub. SimHub has evolved quite a bit since then and I believe it has passed parity and is now superior to SimVibe.

You can use audio files in SimHub and some people have done just that to create certain effects.

Ah... right audio files with simhub - I didnt know it could be done or how it can be done but very much worth knowing. Thanks! And thanks for your view on simvibe, probs stick simhub

Hello all, I got into sim racing a few months ago, mainly Iracing and am hooked. I purchased a Sim-Lab P1X rig, Fanatec DD1, heusinkveld pedals, triple monitors and built a custom PC.

I've been lingering for a while and researching tactile emerson and found this forum a couple months ago. Thank you all for the great info.. After following the advice of the members I purchased the Behringer 3000D, 2x buttkicker LFE, Douk Audio m4 amp, t.racks DSP 4x4 mini and 4x Dayton exciters.

I have the exciters installed on the back of my Sparco R100 seat. The first LFE is installed under my seat on two 8020 cross bars I installed. I isolated the seat with rubber washers from the frame. The second LFE is installed to the pedal deck via two 8020 pieces that are installed on the underside and run the full length of the deck and stick out about 7 inches and the LFE is installed on top of the two 8020 pieces. The P1x has an adjustable pedal deck that can't be isolated itself, so hoping my idea works well.

Im going to use Simhub to run everything and I have a Asus Maximus xii Hero with on board audio that I'm going to use to power the two LFE's. I bought a 7.1 external usb to run the exciters.

I'm hoping to get a recommended setup that could be shared with me. Amp settings, DSP settings, audio card settings, sim hub settings, etc.. I know everyone's setups aren't identical but with my equipment list, hoping to get some help. Needless to say it's all a bit overwhelming when you're new and I want to start off right. Id like to be able to help the community by joining in on the research and development.

Thank you to everyone involved in the knowledge gathering thats been accumulated here and I hope to contribute soon.

I realized the t.racks mini DSP came with a EU plug and I'm in the US. Can I use an adapter or purchase a new power cord with an American 110 plug? Emailed Thomann but haven't gotten a response yet. Thanks in advance

Hi mate and welcome :)

You can use a US to EU adapter or replace the power supply for a neater solution. I went for the latter and got one of these

I cannot find that equivalent Ugreen product on Amazon USA but you could use one from a different brand if they are easier for you to find. The important specs to look for are:

Output 12V 2A
5.5mm x 2.1mm Jack with centre positive

Would you mind sharing how you've attached the exciters to your sparco r100 please?

I have the same seat and couldn't think of an effective way to mount them.

Same here... I've been thinking of exciters but where. Got my buttkicker gamer attached to the bar at the bottom behind the seat behind the zipped covering. I was thinking attaching exciters to both seat rails but i'm not sure tbh

I unzipped the back cover and used heavy duty Velcro for rough surfaces with adhesive. I attached the hard side of the velcro to the foam on the back of the seat. I took the soft side of the velcro and cut it to the size of the exciters existing adhesive and cut the center hole out and stuck the velcro on the exciter. Ran the speaker wire behind the metal frame bars of the seat and attached the exciters evenly with two excitets about 65% up my back and the other two about 30% up my back. Was kind of guessing on placement but could move them around if needed. When I zip up the back cover of the seat it snugs the exciters down pretty solid. I have velcro straps i could snug them down a little tighter if needed, but thats yet to be determined until I get it all running and see how it feels and holds up.

Thought this might be of interest for those who use the wheel slip tactile effect on iRacing. Gamer Muscle's video on iRFFB. I was aware of the iRFFB software and that it smooths out the wheel FFB from iRacing, but hadn't got round to using it and then Fanatec updated Fanalab and the drivers for DD1/DD2 which basically does the same (I think other brands of DD wheels may already use a similar filter). However, I was unaware that it also gives you the option to have the wheel slip FFB come through the wheel (I presume this is the same wheel slip date that SimHub uses for the tactile effect). I'm hoping to setup and test it this week. The video explains it further and the settings he uses. Hope it's of help and interest.

After an another week of trying to get it work Im out of options.

My soundcard is a Creative Soundblaster RX, configured as 5.1
The Buttkicker Gamer 2 is connected to the sub out of that card. That's working.
My 4 transducers are connected with 2? jack to RCA cables to the front and surround out of the card to the multichannel inputs on the Sony STR.

When I use the testtone on the Sony they produce a sound, each transducer. That's working.

In Simhub only the Buttkicker is working. So my question is how do I connect the transducers to the Sony, which cables. Maybe my cable are the wrong ones.
And what is the best way to connect the amp to the Soundblaster RX? I use 2 outputs for 4 transducers right now.
The cables I use are jack to RCA white/red.

Seems like an odd issue but there's a couple of options to try and test.

Do you have the option to connect your soundcard to the amp via an optical cable? If so, this will likely show up as a 'digital' soundcard in SimHub so make sure that's selected.

If you swap your buttkicker to either the soundcard front or surround output, does it still work?

Connecting your shakers to the Sony amp should be straight forward. Just the same as wiring normal speakers to it. The cable connections obviously depend on the type of connectors the amp has but again, it's just like wiring normal speakers to it.

It's generally not ideal to use a standard AV amp for tactile but you should be getting some output from it. I've no experience with this kind of setup but I'd also make sure that the bass on the amp is turned up fully and the treble set to minimum. You might need to turn the PC/Simhub outputs a lot higher than what you usually use for your Buttkicker amp depending on how powerful your Sony amp is (maybe disable or unplug your Buttkicker while doing this so you don't break it).

Yes I have an optical out on the card and on the Sony.

The Buttkicker is also working on the front output of the soundcard.

The wiring of the transducers is like normal, black and red cables. But my concern is the connection on the back of the Sony with the RCA cables.

I've edited my last comment a couple of times, so there's a couple of extra ideas to check.

Sounds like your wiring it up correctly. Yes, it's a single mini jack to twin RCA on the amp. Make sure that windows and the amp are both set to 5.1. I honestly think that you might be getting a signal but it could be down to the volume levels. Amp test signals are normally quite loud though I've no idea what frequencies they use.

I'd unplug the buttkicker (or at least turn it's amp off) and then creep the simhub/pc and amp levels up to see if anything comes through. Make sure you bring the levels back down before using the BK again.

Also check that you're definitely selecting the correct source on the amp
