Sell me AMS2

I have one, but unfortunately it involves being premium here. Come join us for the organised race nights on Tuesdays and Thursdays (around 21:00 - 22:00 CEST). I know that pre-arranged races doesn't suit everyone, but not simply racing with a bunch of randoms makes up for it for me. We had a period about 2 months back when things were a bit sketchy on the MP front, but (fingers crossed), things seem a lot more stable recently.

It's turning into a great driving experience but still needs alot of work in many aspects of the game.
My two cents on why AC, ACC, and iRacing have larger player bases is the drivers who play them are locked into them and dont want to go through learning a new sim. I think this especially true for the AC titles. Not saying they are bad, it was a tough call to go from PC2 to AMS2, but it was a huge step up. I cant even go back now. Rieza will have to understand that sim drivers are a hard crowd to win over and lots of them will try a game just looking for something to go wrong to justify staying with their old title. Its an up hill fight but AMS titles have elbowed their place in the market.
As stated above, I really enjoy the driving experience in AMS2 but due to all the unfinished aspects, I continue to return to iRacing for better MP, AI racing and it's massive amount of content and variety of racing disciplines...dirt, oval, road and P2P.

I don't feel learning a new sim has anything to do with it....all those sims you listed are more feature complete in the aspects that AMS2 lack atm.

the thing is, each game brings different things to the table. some people really want to play a game for 10 straight hours, and thats fine, its just not what I am looking for. For me, it aways comes back to the VR. I am sure for some that is not even a consideration but for me, it is the number one. Physics to me seem as good if not better. Content, is more than could ever be played. On some level all sims are going to be similar from here forward. I imagine as graphics get better that will change and maybe some new ways to approach setups and physics, honestly how many ways can you do sim racing.

Adrenaline pack? MORE GT cars? Now ive been a good boy all year and I dont ask for much..I remember back when they said the GT3 Bentley was coming and I would be happy with that..However, if a certain R8 were to show up in game..well you would see one happy Utah. and sell at least one more pack

The Adrenaline pack is supposed to be an off-road pack which will hopefully enable the loose surface physics that the engine is capable of....no word on when it will be released.
As for GT cars, I too would love to see an R8 as it's my favorite.

For now, reading the Beta forms on Reizas site, it looks like we are getting a Mercedes GT4, Ginetta GT3, and some Vulkan truck to run with the Copa truck class and BOP for GT3 &GT4 coming in update 1.4

I also saw 3 oval tracks WWT Raceway, Daytona Oval, and Auto club speedway. When I heard they were adding ovals I was kinda hoping they would add more than just 3, maybe more will come later?

My ultimate dream with this title would have been SMS selling the rights to PC2 and allowing Reiza to rework the physics on all that amazing content while adding in some Brazilian series like Stock car Pro.
It kills me every time I see PC2 in my library....knowing the potential it had...just to be simply treated as another cash grab for SMS.

Personally I'd advise him to find something else except if he's interested mostly for graphics and VR and some content....
If you were not a fan of Pcars .... poor chances you'll like AMS2, it kept many of its basic features .... and I really don't think they'll be ever corrected if they are hardcoded.
Swing and a miss. This shows you either don't play the game or haven't followed the dev cycle. I still play both, and let me tell you, there is a very big difference in the AI, Physics and Graphics. But you wouldn't know this.

There are mods. Some are good, some, not so much.
True but they only work in single player and I never drive single player. So to me there are no mods only liveries (which are great! I have liveries for almost all cars). I hope that they make it possible to change the advertisements at the sides of the road too, so that all "sim racing brand road advertisements" could be changed to original road advertisements too.

Cool. I just replied because the unknowing might read "no mods" and shun the game. No multiplayer does not equal "no mods". Just saying. It's like saying there's no iRacing because I don't play it.

Sorry but what I also didn't like in PC2 is .... still there... and there's poor chance that they will ever be corrected
- I don't like the UI at all: ugly, oldish, poor vignettes for car choice and not always very pleasant to use
And the worst is to come:
Some important button assignments are ridiculously impossible to do and bad luck for me those 2 are inverted for my wheel for all other sims: "Return-Esc" and "Enter-confirm". I don't see any reason for it except maybe something coming from consoles

The only solution I found not to do many mistakes when on track ..... no assignment at all on wheel but everything done on StreamDeck.
But as they are hardcoded for those 2 .... with the habbit with other sims it still happens from time to time to push a wrong "Enter" button and seeing that this means: "Exit" makes me mad ..... Imagine once doing that on a multiplayer race !!!!!

And there are surely other points I forget ..... I know there are many other good things in AMS2 but once the mistake done 2 or 3 times, what you just wish is to...... take this sim out of your PC.

NB: many cars with no original real liveries.

The UI will never make or break a game for me. Sure this one could be better. But as long as it's serviceable, I'm good. The button mapping issue, I'm not really sure what you're on about there. Bummer that the game is unplayable for you.

I think he's referring to the default assignments of certain buttons on the wheel where they act like PS contollers - enter or back etc. You can map them to car funtions, but in the menues or even in the pits these buttons default to hardwired assignments that can be annoying when you are trying to adjust things.
AMS2 is just getting better all the time, can't fathom the haters and their unending quest to be right about XYZ.

Swing and a miss! Don't worry, there's always next season.
Easy Angel Hernandez :)
He's not too far off the truth.

Personally, I don't think they needed to borrow money nor have they failed but I feel the game could have been in a better state when launched.
Tons of bugs, bad ai, MP and a subpar driving experience.

The driving aspect compared to other titles only got great after update 1.3....2.5yrs after release.

The game was gaining popularity last Nov through till March this yr but has been dropping off every month since.

Hopefully update 1.4 and summer nearing an end + some long awaited content will bump numbers up but I feel the poor MP and AI are keeping many away.

It's pretty sad jumping on to play in peak north America time to only see 10 players divided in 3 mp lobbies running GT3 in locked lobbies or no rating, damage or tire wear enabled.
Euro times isint much better.
The only good MP racing I've done since release was here at Race department...when the game didn't crash, server errors or players didn't get booted.

I have no doubt Reiza will eventually get the most out of the engine.....but the long game route seems to be what's holding them back.

Just look at all there past projects.
Excellent titles....very few players.

AMS2 has not failed, not when failure looks like PCARS 3.

Active Players per steamcharts.com
Project CARS 2 = blue
Automobilista 2 = white
Project CARS = green
Project CARS 3 = orange

Also worth noting that AMS2 is 2x-3x healthier than original AMS:

You are comparing user count to the titles past their prime.
Check historic PCars2 numbers. Actually quite surprised that PCars2 still has larger user base than AMS2, thought they all had moved on.
And AMS (original) never had big following, due to exotic content and dated graphics, I guess, got a lot of praise for physics and FFB though.

Reiza failed with the marketing of AMS2. Not with the product itself. The AMS2 demo that he currently keep online is insanelty bad (the worst car that the game has imo). If I played that demo and I didn't buy the game yet, then even I would have skipped AMS2 completely. Reiza/Renato is great in developing a amazing product(it's my to-go sim) but he's a fool marketing wise sadly enough.
