What is a physical driver swap please? Is that when a driver swap occurs outside of the server? When is it permitted?
A physical driver swap is, as both you and Lorenzo have already said, a driver swap that is not performed in-game; instead drivers will be at the same physical location, drive from the same machine, and perform actual driver swaps. Rules and regulations for performing a physical driver swap can be found in the General Information thread - please see here for more information. To account for any time that could be gained, teams performing a physical driver swap will be required to stop at the end of the pit-lane (towards one side, so that other cars are not blocked) for 5 seconds - this is the same time it takes for an in-game driver swap.

PLEASE TAKE NOTE OF THIS MESSAGE RELATING TO THE rFactor 2 BUILD TO BE USED FOR ROUND 1.

Before the next Roadmap is published by Studio 397, which is expected to confirm the release of the next rFactor 2 build (including the DirectX 11 upgrade) at this end of this month, we would like to clarify which build shall be used for Round 1 of the RDLMS powered by Vesaro. As we have not had the opportunity to test the upcoming release, and the changes it introduces, we are not yet sure what effect this may have on the league, in particular the mods (car and track) and plugins (GRTV Plugin, etc.) that are being utilised. There will be insufficient time for us to test the stability of the new build, verify that everything works as intended, and find workarounds for any issues / bugs that are introduced. The likelihood of issues occurring is usually middling to low, but given the nature of the changes expected to be included in the next major update the probability and risk are both high. Therefore, to avoid any potential problems, a decision has been made to continue using Build 1108 for Round 1 of the series. Apologies to those who are excited for the new release, but its use is not a chance that we would like to take; our primary aim is to ensure that the RDLMS runs as smoothly as possible.

In order to prevent your game from automatically updating when the new build is released please follow these steps:
Please note that this change can be made at any time, before or after the update has been released, and you can switch between versions at time. However, for Round 1 at least, we shall be using Build 1108 of rFactor 2; the dedicated server shall not be updated until after the first round.
  • Open the Steam client (if it is not already running), and close any running instances of rFactor 2 (including the Launcher)
  • Go to your Library, and find rFactor 2
  • Right-click on rFactor 2, and select Properties (at the bottom)
  • In the Properties window select the BETAS tab
  • Select "-1108" from the drop-down menu, and Close the Properties window
  • You may notice the game updating in the Steam client - wait for this to finish, if necessary, before relaunching the game - but ultimately nothing should change because 1108 is the current active release
Once Round 1 is over (and also at any other time, except for Round 1) you can switch back to the latest version of the game by following these steps:
  • Open the Steam client (if it is not already running), and close any running instances of rFactor 2 (including the Launcher)
  • Go to your Library, and find rFactor 2
  • Right-click on rFactor 2, and select Properties (at the bottom)
  • In the Properties window select the BETAS tab
  • Select "NONE - Opt out of all beta programs" from the drop-down menu, and Close the Properties window
  • You may notice the game updating in the Steam client - wait for this to finish, if necessary, before relaunching the game - but ultimately nothing should change if 1108 is still the current active release
If you have any questions or experience any problems please do not hesitate to contact us.

The tires are the same for everyone? It doesn't matter if its dunlop or michelin (just a skin) ?
Yes, all tires (for each car at least) perform the same - the branding is simply for appearance purposes, and there is no difference between available brands in terms of traction, wear, heating, and other attributes that are modelled within / simulated by rFactor 2.
