Slightly delayed news about a Slightly Mad Studios product - Project CARS 3 is now available to the general public having released on console and PC Thursday 27th August.
  • PCARS 3 available on Xbox, PS4 and PC.
  • Over 200 cars and 120 tracks available.
At long last, following a brief early access period for people who pre-ordered the title, Project CARS 3 has finally released to the wider world - hitting real and virtual stores yesterday (Thursday 27th August) for both console and PC versions of the title.

Representing something of a departure from the original Project CARS franchise, the third instalment of the series places a greater focus on the customisation of both the car and game experience - moving away from the more simulation roots of the original games.

With a loyal fanbase of the original games having mixed feelings about the new direction on the build up to release, it will be very interesting indeed to see how well received the new title is over the coming days and weeks.

the SETA tyre model wasn't developed by SMS. and as Renato said, the main problem of pcars was due to the very poor implementation of real data into this tyre model by SMS.
rfactor1 and GTR2 both runs on the same ISImotor, do they have a lot in common for you?

So who developed it then? Pretty sure I remember AJ making blog posts on the WMD forum while he making the model.

I do think rfactor1 and GTR2 have a lot in common, I don’t see your point.

in the same time Iracing is struggling at selling subscriptions

Huh, really?

you are right it was developed by SMS, my bad.
my point still holds tho : as I said, SMS and Reiza can't be more different as for their story, the quality of their work and the care put in their products. saying they have a lot in common just because Reiza choose to develop AMS2 on the same engine pcars runs on doesn't make any sense.

Well, I think AMS 2 feels quite different to pcars. Still, I do think they share a lot.

The reason Reiza chose it was because they wanted to use (share) all the stuff already developed by SMS and just put own content on the top of it.
Yes, seems like not everything went as planned and they need to fix a bunch of stuff in that "ready to use" racing engine.

Yeah, it sure does share the shortcomings and bugs, but pretty sure Reiza knew what they were doing.

Cuphead and ACC are made on the same engine, yet they don't have much in common..I'm fairly confident the same goes for AMS2 and Pcars
UE4 is not a SIM engine, SMS engine is a SIM engine and Reiza uses a lot of the physic, Apple and oranges.
Erm, Reiza are using SMS physics and tire model. That’s a quite a big similarity don’t you think?
Exactly! But that said the driving feeling is quite different.

Apple and oranges again.

I would add that even within AMS2 some cars feel very different, from quite good to awful. The same is true to me in PC and PC2. In all other SIM I drive, I have never felt such a big gap. Different feelings yes, some I like better or do not like much, but not like in the SMS engine where some are totally broken. For the other engine, I am talking about official content, some modder can destroy any quality in any engine quite easily. For the record, I regularly drive and enjoy content in PC, PC2 and AMS2. Also I do not understand any of the interest for PC3 for this crowd, console gamer yes.

in an interview Renato said they initially thought of the rF2 engine but that it was way too complicated to work with after their experience of the Reiza pack for rF2 so they chose the Madness engine because of the SETA tyre model, which he stated it is a wonderful tool but SMS made a pretty terrible job at implementing it into pcars

Compare with Rfactor 2 like i did and you will be surprised.
As I said I drive with rfactor2, and before with rfactor ... GTR2, R07, AC, ACC, RRE, AMS, AMS2 ... I think I have all the pc simulators except iracing. Of course, they are very different sensations, but they are different products that seek different sensations. I really like simulators and I like some arcades. This one, for example, I love ... Those of you who complain about the handling, are you sure you have set the steering wheel correctly? In my case (TX) I had to put everything to the maximum ... Of course it is not RF2 or ACC, but it is a decent driving in terms of sensations, and very fun ...

Huh, really?

.

If it's writting on the net. lol
You know that now there is IA? I wonder why.
