Slightly delayed news about a Slightly Mad Studios product - Project CARS 3 is now available to the general public having released on console and PC Thursday 27th August.
  • PCARS 3 available on Xbox, PS4 and PC.
  • Over 200 cars and 120 tracks available.
At long last, following a brief early access period for people who pre-ordered the title, Project CARS 3 has finally released to the wider world - hitting real and virtual stores yesterday (Thursday 27th August) for both console and PC versions of the title.

Representing something of a departure from the original Project CARS franchise, the third instalment of the series places a greater focus on the customisation of both the car and game experience - moving away from the more simulation roots of the original games.

With a loyal fanbase of the original games having mixed feelings about the new direction on the build up to release, it will be very interesting indeed to see how well received the new title is over the coming days and weeks.

The laser scanned Interlagos was announced back then by Ian Bell and, if I remember well, they acquired the data and the reference. Then the track was delayed, probably because meanwhile they got contacted by Reiza. This was said in twitter and websites, not inside the WMD. Don't now if they did the track or simply sold the data to Reiza with the overall package. But chances are that the SMS did the track and this was then released in AMS2.

I don't understand all this fuzz around AMS2. The game is a tweaked PC2, with just a different GUI, FFB and content. Anyone who think that Reiza did a huge amount of work over the original SMS game is a fool. Beside the mentioned elements it's basically the same game. A good setup of the car can do all the difference.
Reiza has basically redone from scratch how the SETA tyre model works into the Madness engine, how the physics works and how the ffb is implemented, totally tranformed the AI, tweaked all major and minor bugs, but yes you are right, it's just a minor tweak over pcars2.

So here is the video now only in HD soon i hope in 4K.
High settings everywhere except the mirror in Pcars 2 that i forgot.
Pcars 3 looks a little bit dark, i lowered the brightness yesterday. I have to redo the video after a color calibration for both games.

That's my first video don't pay attention to the blabla before and after that's the first time i used this editing tool. Never done that before and i didn't spent time. I will probably do it again so...

What to notice.
In Pcars 2 :
_ not so much except than at the end i tried to stop on the left, i breaked, touched the barrier and the car made a U turn. Great physic.

In Pcars 3 :
_ check the true reflections on the glassy dashboard of the Bentley and on the paint of the blue car on the right at the start.
_ the grass has been improved and on many tracks the tarmac texture too. New graphics elements have been added on the side, like flags and tent in a positiv way for the atmosphere.
_ the IA is set on easy level with low agressivity. You can easily overtake and as soon as you leave space the IA overtakes too. Gentleman racing as you can see, far from the example shown on youtube. Perhaps the IA has been modified since.
_ the back of the bentley at the end looks bad, i don't know why. Bug, optimization?

The game has still a strong framerate issue that i hope would be fixed soon.

Here it is in HD first, tomorrow perhaps in 4K.

looks like the sunday queue going at the mall

I tried it and it is truly awful.

I'm not even judging it as a sim or even simcade. Even as an arcade game it is one of the lowest quality efforts i've seen.

It essentially plays like a f2p mobile game. You gotta grind your butt off for cars and the race payouts are piddling amounts.. I wouldn't be surprised if an in-game currency booster pack comes out to double-down on the cashgrab. Also the AI is extremely inconsistent. They can be turtle-slow in corners and they have artificial speed boosts on the straights. If you want to win in 3 laps you gotta divebomb and muscle your way through like Wreckfest.

The performance is awful; it looks and runs worse than PC2 even though its mostly recycled content. And the physics. As others have noted, the car will oversteer on entry and then an assist will activate and push you outside to prevent the spin. Thats with all assists disabled. Aside from the lies of this having sim handling, it isn't even a decent handling model for an arcade game.

We need a engine built by sim developers for sims they can all use and constantly develop
Absolutely agree...and personal opinion, that is the 'Madness Engine'. as the below screen shots show (yes that screen shot guy is back...lol)...the early stages of the visual damage looks promising in Project Cars 3, sadly no real world performance problems but hopfully this visual damage will filter through to Reiza's Automobilsta 2 title with real world performance problems associated with damage. :geek::inlove::thumbsup:

Having a bad day at the office in my Dodge Challenger :redface::roflmao::roflmao:

jep. That was in 2018 and not in 2019. Reiza has more than one layout for Interlagos compared to SMS.
But i know. People don't like SMS or the use of their engine, thats why they constantly tell roumors and assumptions that puts a dark shade above all. And they'll never would accept the effort Reiza did to that original source to nail all the bugs, inconsistencies and flaws SMS created. No way. Never. We dont like it. So it must be sh*t.
And people who likes it are fools.
Better be the fool on the hill as having 5 degrees FOV :)

When Drive Club has been released it has been the same thing.
And now Drive Club is iconic.

It seems that there are people who like to destroy good games or games that have potential so you can't see that they are doing a bad work on their side.

It has minor bugs and they have to fix the frame rate. But it's a good game with a lot of good aspects and improvments over Pcars 2.

its not matter how driving is. i dont thinks they made it worse than pCARS2 which had good physics, an dont even matter ffb for me now. whats most important its no gt3 but gta class, no gt4 but gtb, no gt5 but gtc etc. an yo choose this "gta" car an yo racing with "fa" car (which is f1 car) and others road cars cause they have similar horse power. im just reinstalling pCARS2 again for 10 time to drive ford vs ferrari movie at old le mans. then i have pit stops to change tyres, i must refuel, but most important i can drive vintage gt cars, and if i choosing vintage gt cars i will be racin ford gt40 vs ferrari 330 p3 and others same class, no modern electric cars or modern f1 cars cause i want drive 1966 race, and in pCARS2 it is possible

AMS2 seems to be only played when updates are made, and honestly that's when I play it too..I hardly find any motivation to launch it, despite how much I like it
it have best open wheelers i saw. its most similar to real life go karts as i feel. in pCARS2 formula renault 3,5 feels little weird, in AC lotus exos 125 feels like too much understeery, but in AMS2 open wheelers perfect, i stopped open wheelers in any sim, now if i want fast paced race wit open wheelers i jump into AMS2 only
it shall be my sims: ACC for gt3, AMS 2 for open wheelers, AC for nordschlefie touristenfahren online, pCARS2 for immersive single player races other sims cant provide cause of lack of content like ford vs ferrari movie im planning to run tomorrow in single player. there is also RRRE but im waiting for DTM 2020 to come out

For sure, it doesn't suit most of us here, and some of the complaints are justified. But some of this rot is over the top, especially that goose in the video on the first page of this thread. Completely over the top that, that all the shine was taken off from what he was attempting to achieve. Stuffed it with overkill.

We all know about Mr Bell exploits. I myself have witnessed his crap since simbin's GTR mod for F1 99-02. But you don't see me carrying on like a pork chop over it.

i wrote post in some other thead that i dont remember when good game was such ruined by devs but now i remember, operation flashpoint... but it was little different thing. bohemia interactive made great war simulator operation flashpoint cold war crisis, then sold it to .... CODEMASTERS XD and they made arcade of it like OF dragon rising, and OF red river. but bohemia interactive made their own game as worthy successor to operation flashpoint cold war crisis and that is ArmA 1, ArmA 2 and latest ArmA 3. it was same thing as first OF. but here we have different thing like SMS made 2 good pCARS, then sold it to Reiza for them to make AMS2. and pCARS was sold to codemasters again to make arcade of it. but its different like
Bohemia interactive made OF, sold it to codemasters to make arcade of it, bohemia interactive made ArmA as continuation of first OF
SMS made pCARS, sold themselfes to codemaster and now making arcade, and Reiza like continues pCARS as AMS2 now, but i hoped pCARS 3 would look like AMS2 with it all content 200+ cars and 120+ tracks, AMS2 is not worthy successor due to its lack of content and most brazilian cars and tracks
