Slightly delayed news about a Slightly Mad Studios product - Project CARS 3 is now available to the general public having released on console and PC Thursday 27th August.
  • PCARS 3 available on Xbox, PS4 and PC.
  • Over 200 cars and 120 tracks available.
At long last, following a brief early access period for people who pre-ordered the title, Project CARS 3 has finally released to the wider world - hitting real and virtual stores yesterday (Thursday 27th August) for both console and PC versions of the title.

Representing something of a departure from the original Project CARS franchise, the third instalment of the series places a greater focus on the customisation of both the car and game experience - moving away from the more simulation roots of the original games.

With a loyal fanbase of the original games having mixed feelings about the new direction on the build up to release, it will be very interesting indeed to see how well received the new title is over the coming days and weeks.

Pcars 3 gives me the same FFB than Rfactor 2 on the Nordschleife with the Bentley.

Now if you want you can check it by yourself. Buy Rfactor 2, the Bentley and the Nordschleife and try it.

Same FFB than Rfactor 2 and it's not a joke. Think about that!

I'm using a Simplicity SW10C+ DD wheel.

All the games i own.

Not saying it is, but it could be a reflection of you having your FFB setup incorrectly. Number of titles you've played/owned is irrelevant if this is true...I've done the same thing for awhile (FFB setup wrong), made a big difference once I figured it out (In short: better to have the FFB in-game to be high, but with minimal to no clipping, and set your wheel lower than 100% (depending on your strength, but not too low that you can't feel snap oversteer), than to do the opposite, which would be (for example) in-game FFB at 15% and wheel at 100%.

That said, I can't speak for everyone but it seems most of us are not giving SMS another dime to test this; we've been burned too many times and too many people here, on several other forums and on youtube have covered the keypoints of why this game sucks compared to the competition (and yes it should be compared to sims since Ian Bell can't keep that word out of his mouth when describing these games before release)...too many unfulfilled promises:

I bought PC1 when I first started out simracing, then I drove AC1 and AMS1 shortly after. Never went back to PC1...prettier yes, but the feel in AMS1 and AC1, though a little different from each other, far surpassed PC1 (especially AMS1) in communicating what the car is doing and how the track feels...and that's everything to me; visuals aren't even the 2nd most important thing. PC1 gets subsequently uninstalled.

Bought PC2 about 1.5 years ago on sale somewhat reluctantly based on the general consensus here and again, compared to AC, RF2, ACC, AMS1 and iRacing there was no contest; most of the cars feel very very weird to me...tried the custom FFB files and the car behavior didn't feel right at all. Back on the virtual shelf and out about $80 total for not listening to that gut feeling.

When I heard the first announcement I supported them in this shift in focus, but honestly upon reflection, considering what the C.A.R.S. in the name represents and how they got to this point over the years, not a third time, sorry...

MOD-Edit: Removed the videos. They have nothing to do with the Topic.

If it's writting on the net. lol
You know that now there is IA? I wonder why.
So that paying members have another in game option and reason to play and get more from there content.
Iracing have said that no AI will ever be used in official servers.

So it was no hidden secret that iracing subscriptions boomed at the starting of covid lock down, with many sites along with the official iracing site confirming the news....so your saying it's all false and have proof?

But please pm me if you wanna continue with your false speculations and assumptions so we don't derail this awesome PC3 release thread lol

Don't seem anyone gets the bigger problem

We need a engine built by sim developers for sims they can all use and constantly develop

At least for 10 seconds think of pros and con ...........what con ? :O_o:

I really like gmotor but it is too old let alone the rest :coffee:

There is no false speculation at saying that a service that sells subscription is running after it. RD runs after subscriptions too.

But now you are saying that no AI will ever be used in official servers and now there is AI?
What does it means exactly?

In conclusion you can say bad things about SMS but as soon as you talk about Iracing...just lol

unfortunately MS will buy that engine and the one and only game will be called Forza Motorsport XE.
And it will have a simplified physics model, best graphics , but also no pits.
Because 1 billion xBox users will be the motor for the direction they'll go.
Who cares for 100.000 Simmers :p

Oh hear we go....next I am a iracing fanboy?
I play ever title and I'll stick up for every title when someone spreads false information...including SMS ;)

It means AI can only be used in single player mode, there might be the possibility to use them in private servers but not in official race servers.
For the record, I was part of PC1 and have over 700+ hrs in PC2 as I really enjoyed the RX content.....what I don't enjoy about SMS is there short support for there titles before moving on to there next cash grab, leaving tons of bugs and unfinished features.

Au revoir Francois

So here is the video now only in HD soon i hope in 4K.
High settings everywhere except the mirror in Pcars 2 that i forgot.
All assistances disengaged.

Pcars 3 looks a little bit dark, i lowered the brightness yesterday. I have to redo the video after a color calibration for both games.

That's my first video don't pay attention to the blabla before and after that's the first time i used this editing tool. Never done that before and i didn't spent time. I will probably do it again so...

What to notice.
In Pcars 2 :
_ not so much except than at the end i tried to stop on the left, i breaked, touched the barrier and the car made a U turn. Great physic.

In Pcars 3 :
_ check the true reflections on the glassy dashboard of the Bentley and on the paint of the blue car on the right at the start.
_ the grass has been improved and on many tracks the tarmac texture too. New graphics elements have been added on the side, like flags and tent in a positiv way for the atmosphere.
_ the IA is set on easy level with low agressivity. You can easily overtake and as soon as you leave space the IA overtakes too. Gentleman racing as you can see, far from the example shown on youtube. Perhaps the IA has been modified since.
_ the back of the bentley at the end looks bad, i don't know why. Bug, optimization?

The game has still a strong framerate issue that i hope would be fixed soon.

Here it is in HD first, tomorrow perhaps in 4K.

I've been playing PC3 over the past 4 days now on PC in 4K with a 2080ti and the graphics are not as good as PC2, or even GRID 2019 and even with my powerful PC components it struggles with stuttering. I'm getting 60fps using Adaptive Sync, so it's a fault with the game.

FFB may feel a little more drivable without good adjustment, but that's more to do with it being an arcade game. AI is really bad, so too is almost non-existent vehicle damage, which depends on the track you're using. Let's hope they do a major patch to fix many of these errors.
