Is VR dead?

LOL!

Sorry, but it feels fantastic and is a miles better experience than my Aero was!

Great great! I didn't expect anything less, the Aero is the worst HMD that I've ever had so on ALL subjects except the nits and resolution the BSB is an massive upgrade over the Aero. The Aero wasn't even usable for me.. and that was coming from the G2.

Doesnt get hot? I dont have it but I do envy your blacks lol

I will make due with the Aero. I tried fallout 4 vr and it was so sharp, bright and nice.

I dont know if its my settings though when I pan around it seems like I get some warp or something in a fixed vertical line to the left and right side. I thought it was the extra panel but Aero doesnt have it just the pro models.

When I keep my head fixed it disappears. Its not low fps. Run max foveated, max 39ppm focus and eyetracking so maybe something there. Image is quite blurry on the far sides but the wobble when panning distracts more. But overall impressive. Quest 3 is quite capable too. Better panels with totally evenly distributed sharpness and less nose cutout but held back by need to stream the video.

The warping distortion is one of the biggest flaws of the Aero. It's the lens design. I couldn't get used to it. It's not solvable but some users get used to it after using the Aero for a long period of time, I couldn't.

I was in and out of roomscale FPS games today. Half Life Alyx looked Amazing! And I was running in 90fps mode. It was simply stunning and the blacks were soo black.

BTW I'm not needing to run the brightness past 100%. It is plenty bright for me.

Tomorrow early morning I'll start out in Dirt Rally 2.0 then iRacing, then if I can stop, I'll put it into flight mode and play DCS.

BTW most people with Aeros adapted to them fine. Some did not.

The Aero isn't remotely perfect. No headset is. I loved my Index, some had issues with it.

I tried the G2 and hated it. Others have been using it for years.

Anyway.

The BSB FOV feels larger than I know it is, but the immediacy is very different in a good way to any headset I've ever experienced.

@RCHeliguy How is the FOV? Do you think it's a little tight? If you could compare it specifically to the Index, that'd be great!

Got an email from Pimax - $160 off the Crystal for Black Friday. Still don't know if I want to move on from my Index. Just cannot make up my mind with either the BSB or Crystal.

The FOV feels bigger than it is. I don't know how else to explain it, but I'm going to try to figure that out.

In room scale games it is a completely new experience.

It's 4:00am I need some breakfast and then see how this feels in sims.

Here you can get even a bigger black friday discount on the Crystal.

If you guys saw what the Bigscreen Beyond looked like and felt like you wouldn't be recommending a Crystal to anyone.
Have you even tried the Crystal? I have an amazing experience with it now that all the launch issues are solved.

And I'm 100% sure that the experience in sim racing is way better in the Crystal for obvious (objective) reasons:
- much more nits
- much more (non upscaled) resolution: the BSB renders 3,686,400 pixels max. at 90hz and upscales that to 6,553,600 pixels(which causes a lot of loss of detail). The Crystal has 8,294,400 pixels rendered per display at 90hz non upscaled, so it's not even the same league
- no glare
- a larger FoV
- eye tracking
And you can use it with friends because it has IPD adjustment.

For me it's quite the opposite: If you have zero complaints about the comfort of the Crystal(and I haven't, it's the most comfortable HMD for me), then I see no reasons to go for the BSB over the Crystal. (if price is not an issue, it's more expensive with lighthouse tracking, and you want lighthouse tracking)

Sorry, but the Bigcreen Beyond is something completely different.

The Crystal is just what you hoped the Aero was going to be for the displays.

The BSB is a huge jump and you don't seem to comprehend why.

Jump off the cliff? The BSB is a downgrade on a lot of subjects, as I just described; compared to the Crystal.

I'm happy for you that you like the BSB. But not all sim racers have the same priorities. Most sim racers don't care about room scale VR games at all and that's where the BSB shines. But in sim racing I have zero issues while moving my head. The weight is not an issue at all in that regard.

I was in my rim rig for 3 hours this morning. The Bigscreen Beyond is an excellent sim racing solution.

I never recommended the Aero, but the Bigscreen Beyond, I can say I would definitely recommend.

FWIW the VR Flight Sim guy said if it wasn't for the glare he would have given the Bigscreen Beyond his top choice. The glare is not bothering me at all. And he is a sit down simmer only. They must have gotten a lot of things right.

expecting my pre-order BSB sometime next week, upgrading from a cosmos elite w/gear VR lens mod. hope my i9 9.9 KF and 3080 ti are enough to 90hz iRacing and AMS2-did not expect 4090s to skyrocket like they did or fast track a CPU upgrade. glad you like your BSB!

I'm sure you'll be able to run 90hz, but you really won't need to. 75hz with the BSB feels perfectly smooth. 90hz definitely feels smoother than the Aero at 90hz. Maybe not 120hz equivalent, but in that direction.

But you will be able to try them both out and decide for yourself.

The big thing will be getting the headset situated on your face correctly. Once you know where it belongs and things look great, it's not hard to repeat quickly.

It is super comfortable :) Nothing I've ever worn comes close.
