AR will take off once we have smart phone integration.
The combination of Samsung and Google could make that happen.
Of course Apple will be doing the same thing.

I understand that GT7 runs on 60fps with motion reprojection at 120hz. What a disappointment, I hate reprojection.
Well, since the game only supports 60fps on a TV, I don't think that is too surprising. That it can still achieve that in VR seems to me a pretty decent feat with the hardware at hand. I don't think most people in this thread are the target audience for this though, as I can buy the whole setup here in the UK for less than I can get a 4070ti

MIT claims stacked RGB LEDs packed to 5,100 pixels per inch.
"Near-submicron thick" membranes of red, green, and blue LEDs are grown,
then peeled from base wafers and stacked to a height of around 9 µm.
"We're able to create all the mixed colors,
and our display can cover close to the commercial color space that's available."
...
"You need a system to control 25 million LEDs separately.
Here, we've only partially demonstrated that.
The active matrix operation is something we'll need to further develop."

Hmmm.....

BTW at 9+ minutes he mentions an effort to save Echo Arena and make it LAN based and even potentially reverse engineering the servers.

Valve has turned over the lighthouse 2.0 production to HTC.

But before some of you make assumptions that they are going to inside out exclusively, they are supposed to be working on a 3.0 version of the lighthouses.

I think this may point to freeing up resources for the next gen headset. From what I understand (still rumors) they will replace the hand controllers, lighthouses (optionally) and of course the headset, so a whole refresh.

Another possibility is that they are not interested in VR anymore and as many 3rd parties depend on their lighthouses, handed over production to the partner, perhaps even along with IP.

Let's be optimistic. Foxconn also assembles the iPhones for Apple. Most brands outsouce their production as we all know. There's at this moment no reason to assume that.

I think it's speculation on both ends. Even Valve seem like cannot make up their mind on what to do with VR.
Remember the big VR department layoff in 2019.
And after that there was more recent insider info on Valve VR "plans" or a lack thereof.
