Ben, your setup is nothing short of miraculous for me at least. I'm slowly gaining ground and have cut my previous PB by a a full second down in the 48s. I was able to run my first TT with an average of 49.X. All eight laps were in the 49 second range. Still slow, but am working on it.

Your setup is faster and more stable then the other one I was using. Quite an accomplishment I would say. I really believe I can get a 47 something out of this.

PS: Anything you have on the Radical, which I just purchased, would be great to see as well. I should have my class C road SR up to 4.0 by this weekend so I can officially drive it. Thanks again.

Crickey!!,,

Just for kicks I tried out the Lotus 79 I got as a bonus with my subscription. That thing is an absolute beast!! You can really get a sensation of the raw animal power of the car. :)

One strange thing is happening when I drive it though, the FFB feels really choppy and jerky as the car is turning. It almost feels like the tyres are skipping/gripping/skipping as the car corners. In a straight line it vibrates jerks around a lot and I guessed that was the sim/FFB trying to simulate how a car with virtually no suspension feels on track, jolting and jerking over every pebble and fault in the road surface (and that's how my G25 feels). It's actually a real handful to control the steering.

Also the steering ratio feels a bit strange like the ratio is too low and over sensitive and a slight turn of the wheel has the car turning in too quickly and cutting into the apex. I have my G25 set up at 900 degrees and it all feels normal with the Solstace or at least how I expect a road car to feel (maybe I am just getting too used to the sluggish road car).

Do you guys get this feeling in the Lotus too or do you think I have a G25 setup problem I should be looking at?

Overall, I'm really loving iRacing and when I consider the $20 a month normal price tag it's really only the price of a decent cup of coffee and a donut per week. (at least that's how I'm going to justify it to myself!!)

Thanks guys,

Grant :)

Indycar comes to iRacing

Its been rumoured for a while but now iRacing has announced that Indycar's are coming to iRacing. They have laser scanned the Dallara I 09 IndyCar and Indianapolis Motor Speedway in a deal involving the track owners, Dallara and the Indy Racing League. They say the car and track will be available this fall and they have "in inventory or under construction 12 of the 17 venues on which the IndyCar Series will compete in 2009".

Quite a turn around as the article linked above states that David Kaemmer has come almost full circle back to his original PC title Indy 500. I remember it well though came across it by accident when it came free with the original SoundBlaster card I bought for my PC back around 1991. Back then I was only playing Geoff Crammonds Grand Prix. I recently let my subscription lapse because of time constraints but I might have to jump back in. Sounds like they have a two tier system with the IndyCar Series and Firestone Indy Lights though I can't remember what license level I left at.

Guys, I'm looking at upgrading my G25 shifter to the Lightning SST unit. Will iRacing allow me to just plug in the SST into another USB port and when running through the controller configuration in iRacing, just select the SST when choosing the gears. I still want to leave the G25 shifter connected so I can utilise the buttons it has.

Is it as simple as that or am I missing something?

Cheers,

Grant.
