G'day Aritan,

Good good to see I'm not the only one trying to work all this out. I'm still trying to work out exactly what time it is going to be in Australia for certain races and what I should register for as my first real event, so you guys are a bit further down the track than I am.

I've been practicing around Laguna because that looks like an event coming up that I can run in.

Just got to sort out that darn Corkscrew dipper section of the track though, still some work to do to be consistent there.

Grant.

It will change back to Lime Rock in an hour or 2 for the next week - not anywhere near as good as Laguna but you should just try and get your safety rating above 4 and then buy the Jetta and a few of its tracks - that will be a much better series :)

I stayed up late last night to go into the first of the Road Atlanta Short practice sessions in the Jetta, and after running some laps in and out of heavy traffic, I have to say that I rate that combo right up there with the very best.

It's probably just me, but every so often a combo pops up that has some sort of wierd magical quality to me - two that pop into mind straight away are Aston Historic in the F08 in LFS (way back in the day), and Varano in Race 07 in the Toledo - both examples of combos where I can recall an experience of pushing like I'd never done before previously. Road Atlanta Short in the Jetta is another one to add to that list.

Now; I'm not fast by any stretch - just look at Sander for that - but now and again these magic combos come by and I just seem to be so much more... on it. Whether that translates into actual laptimes will be interesting to find out when my usual yardsticks, manifested in the forms of Simon and James, get their heads down.

That sounds like good advice James, makes sense. I got a $25 iRacing Bonus with my subscription so the $15 Jetta will soon be sitting in my garage. :car2:

Time to hit Lime Rock.

Grant :)

I totally agree with you Jamie, the Jetta/Atlanta combo is immense fun, I can't wait to get into some races with it, should be awesome.

I'm only running low to mid 1:09 consistently with the occasional trip into the 1:08's. I need a lot of work on turn 1 and the chicance. I think the chicance is where I'm having the most trouble, I'm trying to use the brakes to help turn it and I either get off them too early and turn in early(cutting the corner) or get off late and push wide ruining my exit of the chicane. Any tips for the chicane here? I'd imagine it will get a little easier during a race when I can follow someone through, but I want to get it down well before that so I don't screw it up for the guy behind me.
