Chevy's Top Stock Car Joins iRacing Fleet: Chevrolet Impala SS

BEDFORD, MA (January 30, 2009) - Chevrolet's top racing stock car, the Impala SS, joins the inventory of iRacing.com today, giving subscribers to the motorsport simulation and internet racing service access to the latest in stock car racing technology.

"Our members have been waiting for this moment for some time now," said Steve Myers, iRacing's executive producer. "The Chevrolet Impala SS is an exact digital duplicate of the Chevy racing car that competes at the highest level of the sport. Our members, both those who race these cars in the physical world and those who compete in the virtual one, will find that the iRacing version of the Impala performs exactly as its real-world counterpart does."

Myers noted that company co-founder and chief technical officer Dave Kaemmer and the iRacing engineering team had devoted countless hours to the development of the virtual Impala, and gave a special callout to Dale Earnhardt, Jr., whose input was critical in fine-tuning the virtual car's behavior and ensuring that it responded to both mechanical and aerodynamic adjustments. Accurately modeling the aerodynamic behavior of the car in nose-to-tail packs on tracks like Daytona International Speedway was a particular challenge.

"Dale races this car in the physical world every weekend, so he was able to give our engineers the feedback they required to get the Impala's behavior just right," Myers said. "Our members, whether they are using the service to prepare for real-world events at tracks like Watkins Glen International and Infineon Raceway or are competing against other iRacers in our professionally sanctioned Impala SS Cup internet race series, will know that the cars they are driving mirror precisely the performance of the real-world car."

The Impala SS Cup is the newest series in iRacing's global internet racing community. Over a 12-week season, Impala SS Cup drivers will compete at iRacing's millimeter-accurate virtual versions of the best-known stock car tracks. The season kicks off at Daytona International Speedway and continues at Richmond International Raceway, Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Atlanta Motor Speedway, Phoenix International Raceway, Lowe's Motor Speedway, Bristol Motor Speedway, and The Milwaukee Mile. From there, the series makes a second visit to Atlanta Motor Speedway and then goes to Martinsville Speedway and Watkins Glen International before concluding at Homestead Miami Speedway.

The Impala SS Cup is one of 14 race series currently organized by FIRST, iRacing's sanctioning body. Drivers are licensed according to their ability to drive without incident, and the series are graded in level of difficulty, providing close competition for racers ranging from rookies to decade-long veterans. Through voice and text chat and on forums, iRacers are able to trade racing tips and enjoy the same social benefits in their virtual paddocks as their real-world counterparts do at physical race tracks. In addition, the service includes a year-long global competition among geographically based clubs, known as the World Cup of iRacing, which allows every iRacer the chance to compete as part of a team of drivers for a world title.

To make it simple.. It doesn look exactly spectacular even on full settings, more realistic sort of graphics instead of posh eyeball candy.. and theres plenty of buttons to click around to make the game run smooth, yet still looking good.

Try and set force strength 107% from windows or profiler. be sure all other option are 0. It reduce the force lag at center. Works also with older drivers.

Test the Radical Sportscar for a month

Cant see any posts about this but was wondering if any of you guys know about this offer.

By the way you get all the basic content to try but until you get your rating up you can only race the Solstice and Legend online. You can test the others though.

Just entered iRacing. How do I get racing?

I just go a 1 month Subscription to i Racing.

How do I get racing?

Also in Test drive mode do you lose ranking points if you go off the track/lose control of the car

Downloading - anyone else find that it doesn't like updating with firefox? Seems to be a great game considering you have to use IE and exclude stuff from Nod32 to get the cars and tracks...
