Nice start Bram :wink2:

I started with practice sessions until I could drive consistently, then moved to the TimeTrials, then quali's and finally races.

So far it payed off for me and I already 'bought' the skippy and will start practice in it soon :dance2:

Initially I thought I had to drive the Solstice for a longer time but after less than 1,5 week I could already race the Skippies.

you know because you are an alien you were able to advance so fast...right? :D

There is often debate about leagues vs the iRacing 'pickup race' concept...but honestly both types have their good and bad points.

I like getting home and getting a race or two in iRacing before 9pm....but in my Evo league the race time is 9pm some nights and 10pm others which is not ideal for me.

Graphics

I have a general question on the graphics in iracing. Mainly on how heavily they depend on having the best graphics card. Is this a game that you need to run on the highest settings, or does it still look ok, and more importantly function properly on lower settings.

Thanks for any information or opinions you can give me!

That doesnt really answer my question... at all. I know what the requirements are, I want to know from people with experience playing if the graphics are really crappy and hard to work with at lower settings, or if they are still managable.

thanks tho...........

Hi,

I have an 8800GT and it runs around 60fps on the iracing class 2 settings. The class 2 settings have plenty of eye candy.

I figured I'll put my opinion in.

At times the game can be frustrating, the SR and iRating system can really irritate you when you have a bad race. But once you learn to forget about it you can have alot of fun.

From a driving stand point its amazing, Everything feels great and the game is beautiful. And for how amazing it looks it runs so smooth, it is a very efficient game.

Races are fun but The staggered time slots are irritating. Oval Race one hour, Road Race the next hour. So if you wanna do Road Racing only you have to wait two hours before your next race.

The game is expensive and paying for the tracks and cars is probably the lamest thing ever. Although it is also kind of nice. It really gives you time to focus on the car and track that you are running in the current series. And the license progression makes it so you only need to buy a couple cars and a few few every few months.

So I would have to say its worth it. So long as your not to tight for cash. 20$ a month really isn't a big deal to me. And although the race format can be annoying the iRacing team is doing a good job at listening to the drivers feedback so I am sure everything will be A ok after they get some time to see what works.

I would just like to say. After posting this i had another frustrating race. The game does have its issues. People who cant drive are one of them. I guess I am split on if the game is worth it, but i have faith that it will be better soon.

You don't have to change your rotation to 900 degrees, that is misleading.

I use the G25 and it spikes only if I have it set to rotations as low as 200...but that is to too low to drive with in iRacing. I use 400 to 600 depending on the car and track and the wheel doesn't spike in that range.

According to Logitech there is no fix for the spiking which is caused from the two FFB motors conflicting at wheel center.

The World Cup of iRacing, announced

BEDFORD, MA (January 19, 2009) - The World Cup of iRacing™, a global, team-style, annual internet-racing competition, was announced today by John Henry, chairman of iRacing.com Motorsport Simulations, LLC. Henry also announced that Dale Earnhardt, Jr. has joined iRacing's Competition Committee, the group charged with overseeing the new tournament and other internet racing activities.

"The World Cup of iRacing represents a new aspect of the sport of internet racing," Henry said. "In addition to all of the individual racing opportunities that iRacers enjoy, the World Cup of iRacing gives each of our members around the world the chance to compete as part of a geographically-based club, working throughout the year with their teammates toward a common goal, one that would be out of reach for the vast majority of people racing on their own - a true world championship."

Full details of The World Cup of iRacing can be found by clicking the pdf document on the bottom left hand side of this page, just below Dale's photo. Henry also noted that Earnhardt's assumption of a position on iRacing's Competition Committee formalizes a relationship that began several years ago.

"Dale's passion for motorsport is recognized by sports fans everywhere, and his keen interest in auto racing simulation is well known," Henry said. "As one of our cadre of volunteer alpha and beta testers, Dale's input was invaluable during the initial development of the iRacing simulation software and racing service. He's continued to be an important source of technical input as we've developed our stable of stock cars. Now, as a member of the Competition Committee, he's helping us shape the newest form of motorsport - one that is fun, inexpensive and easily available to virtually anyone with a broadband internet connection anywhere in the world. We're thrilled to have Dale join us in this new capacity."

Earnhardt has used the iRacing.com service to prepare for real-world test sessions and races, but his regular participation in race series organized by iRacing's sanctioning body, FIRST, is primarily about personal enjoyment and a love of competition. Earnhardt will have a continuing voice in the development of a form of motorsport competition that is easily accessible not only to veteran racing drivers, but to fans as well.

"It's a great honor to join the iRacing Competition Committee," Earnhardt said. "Simracing is a major part of my life and I hope to be involved in helping iRacing bring the community the best simulation possible. I look forward to being an asset to the committee and iRacing as a whole as the development continues. It's an amazing time to be a sim racer."

The inaugural World Cup of iRacing begins February 1st, with the start of the first of four 12-week 2009 iRacing competition seasons. It will be contested by 35 clubs, which encompass the entire iRacing membership and are organized by global geographic region. Clubs will compete through the four quarterly seasons, followed by a regional runoff and then on February 6, 2010, a one-day, winner-take-all day of racing to determine the World Cup of iRacing champion.

I have a AMD x2 4600. 2.5 ghz dual core processor.
2 Gigs of Ram win xp.
256MB 8800GT.

I play it on class 1. I the option that goes over shadows again. But leave more shadows on. Anti Aliasing at 4. Antristropic(sp?) Filtering is set pretty low also.
