Is it remotely possible that this is a phishing scam for your credit card number? I mean is this an official iRacing page?

It is not a phishing scam, Radical Sportscars is a well-known company and you only give your credit card details on iRacing's official site.

And to those who wonder, they need the credit card to validate your identity. Everyone goes by their own name in the sim. As was already noted, just remember to uncheck auto-renew in your settings and you will not have to pay anything for the demo.

Its no scam guys as others have said. I have tried it for 2 days and yes its good. It has better FFB than rfactor but I knew that before I tried it.

It runs well looks good and drives good. The safety rating is stupid but again I knew this before I started. A guy spins I make contact and get points deducted, this has happened to me alot so I hope they dont put this in rfactor2 its just not needed.

Will I be getting it? well in a word no. I am bored with the limited cars and tracks and at this price it is not worth it. I maybe get 2 or 3 nights a week to race so for me its a no go.

Having said that it is a good sim though. If rfactor 2 can get good FFB and physics then I wont see the need for iracing.

You can test offline or you can join an online practice session without having to worry about your Safety Rating. Time Trials, quali's and races do have effect on your SR :)

In the beginning I only did practice sessions, until I felt confident on track with the car. Some people go straight into a race, crash a few times and than complain about their dropped SR. Just a small tip :wink2:

Get running in online practice sessions, its the best way to learn by far. Ill usually do a few laps test drive offline to wake myself up then go straight into online practice sessions before anything else.

There usually pretty quiet, a few other drivers at most, but your actually connected to iracings online servers so the feel is identical to what it will be in a race, Offline test drives dont take ping or lag compensation into account.

Plus racing with others on track is pretty much the whole point, so the sooner you get used to someone else being on track with you the better :D

Enjoy!

I find it completely ridiculous that you have to fill in credit card details without actually have to pay for it.

I have removed my own thread yesterday where i complained about the fact that after ending your subscription to iracing you will get several emails to drag you back into the game. (i overlooked the unsubscribe button, that is there, but you need to scroll a little)

This way of agressive marketing keeps me away from it for now! Let them make a decent offer with a free demo or let people leave if they want to. It seems that they dont get the fact that not everybody can afford this sim on a monthly subscriptional basis! This radical "offer" just ads to that.

E-mail adress ok, creditcard details for something that should be free, including a very sneaky renewal like Simon stated here, a big no!

It's a great simulation with top of the bill cars and tracks, but the way they handle such things like this keeps me far away from it for now :(

I find the idea of iracing very intriging, and have been contemplating signing up myself, but like most here, I am on the fence as the prices are relatively high. The 20 bucks a month in itself isn't so bad, but having to pay for additional content I really don't like.

Will be keeping my eye on iracing for sure though, I am curious to see it develop. It certainly has the potential to develop into something great.
