The really irritating thing is all the guys that will have weeks of experience if not months before we even get the keys to a car.

It's been the same with those of us the latest wave.
You'll be in races with similar paced people this method eventually evens out. A big problem has been the number current D license holders going down to rookie events to get wins for their stats page instead of fighting for them with the Skippy etc.

Aww all that work and you still have to wait a month. I'm not liking the Advanced Legends those things spin on me :(

You know that is what freaks me up with iRacing. In the end iRacing is a money sucker system. Why don´t they offer the cars & tracks for free and just use the subscription system for your account like every other MMORPG does? I understand that you shall pay for an "addon package" which contains several things but paying every track and car extra is just cheeky.

Mr Huttu recently uploaded his Lime Rock setup To the Team Redline site.
So thank you to him for sharing it with us. :thumb:

After trying it I like it. I am not any faster with it but that's just down to talent. It has made me more consistent though can run 1 minute laps a lot more without wiping out as much.

How invites work and why from iRacing

This information was posted over at RSC by Tim Wheatley. About the invite system and how they are working it. Might not help the waiting but may help explain the process they are using.

Hi folks,

I'm seeing a few posts from people who seem 'hurt' they haven't had an invite yet, or confused as to why they haven't gotten one. I thought I'd post this and hopefully answer any queries you might have.

What is the invite process?

Firstly, the people who beta tested were asked to provide a maximum of 10 names and email addresses. We checked for duplicate emails and made sure each email address would get one invite, then mailed out the invites. Obviously (as we expected), some emails bounced and most people didn't provide 10 names, so we sent out a small number of the mailing list subscribers to bump that list a little.

Since that time, we have invited a few VIP's (real-racing drivers, etc), a few media persons and also have sent out two waves of emails that were selected at RANDOM from the mailing list. The mailing list is here: iRacing.com Motorsport Simulations - If you are not subscribed yet, please do.

From now until the time when the doors open fully, waves of emails will be sent out depending on what the development team say. The numbers per wave and the time the wave happens may vary, but by the end of the Summer everyone on the mailing list should have gotten an invite.

It will not happen in any particular order (honestly, they are not in the order they were registered now anyway, as we moved from one piece of software to another for list storage). If you are registered, you have done all you can. If you are not chosen in the next wave, wait for the one after that.

The next wave will be coming this week.

Now, WHY are we doing this?

The worst case scenario for any paying customer is for the service to be unavailable outside of any planned maintenance. This process of release isn't anything new, some of you might remember that GMail was launched in a similar fashion (and infact still is named 'beta' officially). We are increasing the membership as quick as our process will allow, we will not rush at the expense of existing members.

Tim.

I still havent received an invite, and to be honest they should send it to somebody else. I have close read all the reports about the game here and on RSC and so far it is a "no" for me. It can be a great game if you fully focus on it for a longer time. But i dont have the time to commit to one game, neither do i want that with all the great sims currently on the market.
So no iRacing for me (yet)

I know what you mean... I had the hots earlier this year when I had more time, but now...? At some point I'll probably take a flier, but there's so much good stuff out now that I want to get better at I don't know where I would find the time. Not mention new releases in the pipeline...

New invites on the way - at least I got mine

I think there is a batch of new invites on the way to racers all over the world.
At least I got mine today and I only signed up one month ago.
So good luck everybody else.

For me its the other way around.

I have to little time racing to qualify in with you guys (i am a race07 fanatic) and i suck. Compared to you! :)

But in iracing i have a racing community with whom i can race and learn, so in a far future i will perhaps qualify into group 4.

Atleast!

On the other hand if i was competent enough driving here i don't think i would look forward to iracing as much. As i do. And i race quite much online. (I got in with the beta invites... )

Its really well suited for people with only time for a few hours on an average week.
