...to keep their current subscribers they need to really get some of these vital features implemented...

Wow. That would mean that iRacing staff is just incompetent to improve their software without "us" money givers? Such simple things don´t need "us" to improve the software. They had enough Beta Testers to implement such stuff. And it´s always the same: Rush out with the software to make profit and lacking simple stuff that every simracing game has by default and let "us" do the rest by complaining about software. It´s the similiar way ARCA Sim Racing went through. Just my oppinion.

As i´ve said before:

iRacing is worth the money but not at its current stage, at least not for me. I want to see more which I won´t see until i´ve payed them frequently my $20/month for the next 6 months or so, until it gets interesting for me. That´s a no go for me. Therefore i´m finished by now and will rejoin later this year.

Whatever. Kudos to iRacing. It´s a great platform for those who are only looking for sprint races and who are fanatics when it comes to statistics. I think i´ve just expected to much and got disappointed.... ;)

For now, that was the only bad experience. Did some qualify again and was good ;)

Qualifying has the advantage that you might start up in front instead from inbetween of the field. There will be always people that will wreck you, whether intentionally or unintentionally. You can´t do anything about it unless suffient complaints are beeing made on their forums. Maybe it´s hard to see who the wrecker was but with the F3 screen it should be possible to find out.

Well I think you have basically said what I've been thinking Sascha. Maybe I'm being too hard when I say that I think it's a case of needing to bring in the customers to pay off a few debts and to fund further developments. Or maybe I'm wrong, who knows?! In which case I will give them my support, so that they can create something special. I just hope that they don't take our money and then run!

Real life racers really do play

It would seem i may have just had a race in the rookie legends with a real life nascar driver.

A guy called AJ Allmendinger was on pole for the race and went on to win.

Cant be sure it was the real one but how many AJ Allmendinger's can there be in one world.

If all usernames on the Grid are created by the creditcard information, then yes it could be AJ Allmendiger. It is fact that real racers do race iRacing but as for Dale Jr. he uses normally a nickname and never his realname but what do I know ;)

Right now i'm going to give up at the end of the month too. I'm already fed up of driving the god-awful soltice around, especially now the road racing is on Leguna Seca (you almost have to change down to get that thing to go uphill!)

Its so frustrating because it would take so little to completly turn it around for me, dropping of the saftey rating, inclusion of the Skip Barber as the entry level ... anything to get me away from poottling round in the piss poor Pontiac.

Last night I logged into iRacing just before 22:00 for the race but was only on for a few minutes before i accepted that what I actually wanted to do was go right back to the new rFactor mod. I was rewarded with a 45 car race at VLM mid-ohio in a mixed class Historics race all running nice and smooth with very enjoyable and quite beliveable physics..... and not an incident point or feeble solstice in sight :D

Lets hope some changes are made soon and this game can become what it should be and deserves to be.

I'm pretty much out of the solstice now with an SR above 4 I can join the skippy races (but not without some practice).
For Laguna try the advanced solstice if you can it feels alot better for that circuit.

I'm signed up for a year so I'll be expecting some big developments by the end of that term. For me it'll probably end up being a game I play on evenings where there are no race nights, eventually.

Doing a search for Dale Jr. reveals he races under his real name and races a lot. So for today hes run around eight sessions, including road and oval, with at least one session in every car available at D license level.

Looks like hes a racing addict :)

Additional iRacing credit bonus

From the members site, additional bonus of $15 for those who take up an annual subscription before August the 29th 08.

If you've signed up for an annual iRacing.com membership, we've got some great news for you - you'll be receiving a bonus $15 iRacing credit later this summer. That's in addition to the annual membership benefits you've already received - a lower monthly subscription rate, all of the basic content and $60 of free iRacing credit.

This bonus is also available to existing short-term subscribers who choose to extend their current subscription. Just extend your subscription by 12 months any time between now and August 29, and you'll receive the same $15 bonus, along with the regular benefits of annual membership.

Like all iRacing credits, the iRacing Annual Subscription Bonus can be applied to an extension at the end of your subscription or, at any time, to new cars and tracks. It will be issued to all active iRacing members with a subscription expiration date of June 1, 2009 or later as of 12:01 a.m. GMT, Friday, August 29, 2008. Credits will be distributed by email in early September in the form of a unique promotional code, and recipients can redeem their credits by clicking "View Cart" from the iRacing members' web site and inputting their code. Details will be included in the email, but codes must be redeemed before 12:01 a.m. GMT, Tuesday, September 30, 2008.

If you have already signed up for an annual subscription, please watch your inbox for an email from us in early September containing your $15 iRacing credit promotional code. If you have not yet signed up for an annual subscription, please do so prior to August 29 to take advantage of this special offer. Thank you for choosing to share in our inaugural year of service!

I'm sure everyone has their ideas why they're doing this.

I think its just a reminder to the community that most are only signed up for a month to try to get people to start thinking about longer term subscription. They may be noticing that at the moment a significant % of the community have not committed to the sim long term.

I'll be interested to see what other announcements they make proir to the end of the first month too.

I haven't got i-racing yet - and I am now not sure if I will. One thing I have thought is that they have missed something quite glaring about the difference between i-racing and Microsoft Flight Simulator.

The reason MFS can charge for add on content is because the basic MFS does not 'need' the add on content:

I-Racing provide 'some' basic tracks and ask that you buy more. MFS provides all major and pretty much most of the minor airports in the world [that's huge]. The only reason I buy/would buy the add on airport is for better visuals, more options and to improve the experience. However - I can fly into the same airport as a pilot who has not bought the content and we would not notice.

The same goes for the airplanes. I do not 'need' to buy the add on aircraft - as I can fly the basic package. I have bought content because the add ons have more functionality and, again, improve the experience. I can, again, fly the stock B-737 that comes with MFS or I can buy an add on.

Downloading real world weather is part and parcel of MFS. I can [if I want to] buy more sophisticated weather add ons. But - I don't 'have' to.

The moral of the story? I can get hours, weeks, months and years of fun with MFS without ever 'needing' to buy multiple addons. The reason I, and the rest of the community, do buy them is because we 'want' to.

I-Racing should work just fine - as long as they take on board some of the lessons from the Flight Sim community.

Just my two pennies... :thumb:
