AC Group C @ Sebring International Raceway - Weds 22nd July 2020

Assetto Corsa Racing Club event
Sebring is a great track. Part of what I love about the RD races is the variety of tracks. I now find myself in the position of watching races on TV. F1 and others and knowing what corner is next and being better able to imagine what it is like in real life.

Everyone won't like every track, but that's the same with a lot of things in life. I didn't know ANY track until I joined RD but now feel privileged to have learned so many due to my friends like @Craig Dunkley @Medilloni @Chris Down and @Denis Betty

So from me it's a big :thumbsup:
Thanks George, this means a lot to all of us (all organisers), thank you so much :thumbsup: You hit the nail on the head mate (bolded bit). Not 'a go' at anyone... but how could we know which tracks/cars people know?

The 1st bolded bit: I was looking into the history of Sebring (and yes, it was, is, a very famous airfield!) and as I do with looking at other events, I got distracted very nicely by this absolute corker... enjoy!;)

A simple 'like' is just not enough for this spot on post :thumbsup: Very well put, exactly my thoughts. I'm still learning new tracks nearly every week thanks to our amazing hosts and wondering if it will ever stop :D Sometimes I'm happy to race at Monza :roflmao:
Again, thanks Andreas - I laughed when I saw your Monza comment, to me, this is the most boring track ever, in any format:roflmao: BUT... look what Denis did with the Ferrari GTO and TVR, Bikernieki etc a wee while ago, corking races... a fantastic example of getting a car combo to fit the track:inlove:

OK so improvements in the VR washout situation have been made for those that are interested. Probably should have put this in a general thread somewhere else but oh well!

Thanks for all the pointers chaps, I'm not actually sure what PP settings I was using previously as I had a preset in CM that activated for most track session types using SOL as the PP but I'd since disabled SOL entirely and set up NaturalMod in it's place, so that wasn't running either (obviously didn't help).

Once NaturalMod PP filter was selected correctly though it was still a bit glary so had a look at the ini file and found a couple of settings to tweak that helped a lot

[GLARE]
ENABLED=0 (was set to 1)

[COLOR]
BRIGHTNESS=0.7 (was set to 0.99)
COLOR_TEMP=6000 (was 6500)

The AUTO_EXPOSURE option that @GeekyDeaks mentioned was already disabled

Here's a few screenshots from my monitor (glare/brightness was a lot more pronounced in VR but you can see the relative brightness/colour changes each setting change had):

Using No PP (actually looks pretty good)
0NoPP.png

Using Default PP filter (brighter than no PP)
1DefaultPP.png

NaturalModVR PP filter (Default ini file Settings - brighter and colder/more washed out)
2NaturalModVR.png

NaturalModVR PP with Glare=0 (warmer colours, gives better texture to the road but still bright)
3NaturalModVR_NoGlare.png

NaturalModVR PP With Glare=0 and Brightness=0.7 - pretty good
4NaturalModVR_NoGlare_Bright_0-7.png

NaturalModVR PP With Glare=0 and Brightness=0.7 and Colour Temp 6000 (was 6500)

And Finally with SOL_VR PP re-enabled (Default ini file settings - again very bright but a bit warmer than NaturalMod)

I think of them all the NaturalMod with glare off, brightness at 0.7 and a slight colour temp tweak is the best compromise for my setup, no PP at all also looks quite good too but having tried it quickly in an AI race cars are more blurry and you seemingly don't get brake lights etc.

@Medilloni Thanks for the tag, but I can't make it tonight. I'm working all hours lately. Hopefully things will settle down soon. I've never raced at Sebring before, but I've heard so much about it's famous bumps though. Enjoy the race.

After a few laps with every car I've to say that I've had the most fun with the LT. The ST and the Mazda are way more competitive around Sebring (I guess) but the power of the LT is hilarious :D

TLDR: one LT pls

On the washout thing it could be partly due to all the club races being in clear blue sky conditions at midday. I find the tracks look alot better when there is more of an angle on the sun. Is the option there to mix it up or does it cause problems?

Time is usually set for 11:30 Brian, I had a few peeps say longer shadows on some tracks are distracting ('specially when it's tree-lined, which this isn't:laugh:), but if there's a consensus to change I'm all ears ;)

Guys apologies due to a family emergency I need to pull out of tonight's race. Sorry for the late notice, hope to join you for one of the next races. Good luck to everyone taking place
