AC Group C @ Sebring International Raceway - Weds 22nd July 2020

Assetto Corsa Racing Club event
I was robbed, unfortunately by me,:( got my setups completely wrong, picked the wrong one. Convinced I put in 65ltrs, had a comfortable lead but only had 30ltr on board, Bugger.
Second race got the fuel correct but again the wrong setup, double bugger.:roflmao:
The car is so much better on softs, but after 4 laps the braking distance is so extended that the car , what with it’s compleat inability to deal with bumps, becomes a night mare to drive.
Put all my efforts into the damper settings, although it was a big improvement over standard, but sometimes you just cannot sort it all properly.
Sebring just does not suit the car, what a bumpy circuit it is.
But it was a great race for me, the second one, it was a battle of the
Goliath's @640er Andreas LT vs C9 , mid field not a hope in hell, but on the straights even the LT struggled. The main difference is the braking distance of the C9.
Well done podiums, thanks John @Medilloni for a great event, just was not my day unfortunately. :(:)

Massive, HUGE, thanks to all for tonight's racing - and congrats to the podium guys as always

Yes there were some accidents, but to be expected with this combo - the 1st race I got caught up in a biggie (well, two:p), but when these things let go it's incredible hard to catch them, so again, thanks to you guys for the fair racing and sticking with it

How the heck did you manage both races on softs @pattikins Patrick? That was some super smooth driving:confused: And @Kek700 Ernie... a pole and stunning pace, I thought you were brave, turns out you're just cunning... and yes I read your post above:roflmao:

This track can be hard to learn, with some corners that have a totally different line (compared to 'normal' logic) in order to manage the small imperfections bumps - next time with Group C we'll be taking a much more leisurely ride!;)

Despite getting caught up in the 1st race accidents I had a ball, though when the mediums were all red with 15mins to go I couldn't figure out if it was 'cos I'd spun so often:laugh: ...or the just my scruffy driving. Used hards for the 2nd race, and was amazed how little lap time difference it was making - I must be doing it wrong:roflmao:

Thanks again guys, hope to see you all next Weds:)

Every event with these group C cars have been a blast. Thank you so much for organising these combo's, @Medilloni . I think the diversity of the cars and the twitchy character guarantees a lot of battling during the race. Race 1 I finished 2nd, mostly due to the rumble in lap 1 with the front guys which I could evase (barely).
At the start at race 2 Sam Cobb in front of me had a not so good start but when I steered to left to pass him my car oversteered massively and I ended in the wall. I'm sorry for everyone who couldn't evase me. I should have known better than turning on full power in low gear with these cars. Being last I had some catching up to do which is also fun. In the end I finished 7th after some nice battles.

Really looking forward to the next Group C event! Thank you all for joining!

Don't worry, most of us had their moments during this event I'm sure. I know I did!

Thanks for the compliment John. I'm not so sure that I was that smooth on the softs. I think I just had less mishaps than the rest of the field, and the soft tires seemed to have roughly the same life span as the mediums. Hard tires were definitely the sensible choice.

At the start of the first race, I had a fortutious tap @ T1 and lost a place to Chris. The tap put me in a prime position to take advantage of Ernie defending against Chris @ T2/T3 & I was able to take the lead - only to throw it away @ the hairpin (T7) on the next lap with a mis-shift (first of many...lol).

I think I put the curse on myself when I said to Brian that I had no problem seeing the brake lights on the cars . Surprise, suprise, on lap 3 there was a bit of a hold up @ T16 & I ran straight in to the back of John . @Medilloni kindly let me set off in front him (...probably thought it was the safer option :roflmao:), and for his reward he got caught up in a major crash on the following lap, coming off the last corner, summat I managed to narrowly avoid :whistling:. Thankfully, it's a nice long straight & I could see the carnage unfold in my mirrors :whistling::roflmao:.

The second race seemed as crazy (but enjoyable) as the first. Chris seemed to be having a nightmare - I'm guessing there isn't a video replay ;) - summat I've not seen before and probably won't see again :(.

Thanks for the combo John. re - Ernie. I did a google search for 'cunning' & I was shocked to find this:

Was a tough race or two. What it highlighted to me is that the spring on my throttle pedal is too light.
I had a good pace and position in race 2 but f******d it all away as f*******g usual.:)
Same here George, have been meaning to get my drill out and add a stronger spring (t3pa pro)... somewhere ;)

If I drive barefoot it's ok-ish, but then my brake is set so I have to use 'me working boots:laugh:

I think that's the hardest track I've raced as a newbie, need to work on learning how to set up the car as everyone seems so fast and when I try taking a corner bit faster the thing I see is the barrier closing faster lol
Well I for sure noticed that you're making progress, Kev! The event on monday is also a nice one for you, I think.
