Thought it easier to create a new thread on this

Corrupt Save Files

This is fixed in an upcoming console patchThe corrupt save file issue has been fixed on PCOnce applied the patch will 'fix' corrupt saves, allowing you to carry on from where you left offPlease note, if you overwrite your save file it will not give you back your progress

Console Patches

These are now in the last stages of internal testing at Microsoft and SonyIncluded in the patch is the corrupt save file fixAlso included is Time TrialAlso included is a host of other fixesPatch notes will be supplied in the coming days

PC Patches

We're already working on a new PC patchWe'll bring you more info on that as it develops

It's hard to give a release date (for the console patch) as it's out of our hands but as soon as both Microsoft or Sony say it's good to go the patch will go live the next day. Giving estimates is always risky but providing nothing else pops up and no other issues are found the patch should be live by the end of next week. Again, I can only stress this is an estimate and is subject to change but I know a lot of you are pressing for an update passed 'soon'. We appreciate a lot of you will be waiting for this patch and we thank you for your ongoing patience. As soon as there are any further developments we'll let you know.

Please note: The previous thread on this, along with the off shoot discussion on the forum have seen a rise in anger, threats and personal abuse. While I appreciate you are frustrated I will not tolerate the continued descent down that patch. This doesn't just go for how you talk to us (Codemasters), but how you talk to each other. The forum is a great tool for us, and for you, please don't spoil it.

I love the AI in this game Wes, I have just finished a race at Brands where I had to really work for the lead after losing it at the stat and then once ahead had to really place my car well to prevent any overtakes. The AI in this game are simply the best I have come across. If we are light on the grids I really see no reason why we should remove them. If they are too slow then they shouldn't bother you too much ;) Obviously if the majority want them out I guess thats the way to go but i'm with Robert on this one in that they add a nice extra element to the races.
i think its not the hardest ai or is it? i did 2x 5 lap race and ai where doing 31s low.
yea the ai are not bad(especialy compare to racepro), i had some good battles, i dont mind if they are slow but on a lower level they get in the way in corners. but good for slipstream.

I think we were using the 'Very Hard' AI but @Robert Waddell can confirm that as he set up the lobby.

I still actually have been racing the 'Hard' AI and even they give a very good level of competition, especially if you start lower down on the grid and have to work your way through them. I like the fact that they seem to have some character to them and once close to you if you give them a sniff of a chance they will take it and not be so easy to block like in F1. I would love to see this AI in F1 2014.

I didn't lose any gears in the races on Monday night but did seem to lose some acceleration towards the end of the races... one of the problems online is that you have no feedback from your engineer so who knows what is happening really.

Are you hitting the redline either waiting on the start or during any shifting? I did the Indy race last night and I had no issues with gears at all. I adjust my gears but I also do not redline the engine.
I do tend to go into the red more than I should I think and thats one of the areas that I have started to try to change. One of the problems with the untuned cars is that the gears are not ideally suited and I found myself either in too low a gear or too high.. eg in the first sector at Mondays races there is a fast right-hander followed by the tighter left (turns 5 and 6) and shifting up to 5th loses speed but staying in 4th means you redline. There are several like that I found. With tuning you can eradicate that problem but without tuning thats not possible.

I find that slowing for the corners is easier coming from a higher gear to a lower one Peter. The example youre giving of turns 5 and 6 at the Indy GP circuit is a good one. I always tried to be in 4th gear through turn 5 and then up to 5th gear before the corner at turn 6 slowing and downshifting to 3rd. I didn't manage it on every lap, but probably 90% or them.
Same thing with Turn 8 after the short infield straight. I always made sure i had upshifted to 6th gear just before the braking zone for turn 8 then downshift to 4th gear and carry the speed right up to turn 9 braking zone.

It's really bizarre that Microsoft would "allow" a game to be released with a bug that basically disables it, or disables user progress, but they take eons to "approve" a fix that would cure it. Then again, there is the "rest of the story"....

It comes down to wasting time, and with this game that's a precious commodity. Soon there will be F1 2014 and many will migrate to next gen faster. I have already heard many racing gamers exclaim that this debacle has pushed them into a realization that next gen need to be purchased sooner rather than later. I think I am in that same camp (provided funds) because I can't see many being satisfied with just F1 a year after release. The consoles are already down to $400 and will get lower, and the wheels will start popping out around $100-$200 soon.

Yeah I agree with that Karl but my problem was I was going into the red quite soon after turn 4 and shifting lost me some speed if I went up to 5th at that point. Leaving it later was better from the speed perspective but would mean staying in the red longer and I assume that sort of situation is where the gearbox problem is coming from.

I was the same at that other corner too but now and then especially if I got a poor exit off the previous corner I would remain in 5th.

Providing F1 is not a bust I will be happily sticking with the 360. I can't see that it will be inferior to F1 2013 and that has given me such great value for money so I doubt the next one will be any different.

Grid Autosport has certainly given it an extra lease of life for me (even with the little niggles we all have with it) so I can see myself happily carrying on with it for another year without problem.

The Xbox One has such limited appeal to me that it will take something very special for me to want to fork out 450-500 quid for it... not that I am likely to be in a position to do that anyway. The new F1 when it arrives (and lets not forget that will likely not be until April \ May time anyway) with monthly updates sounds fantastic but lets not forget the problems CM have in getting a simple patch out, let alone something that everyone will be expecting regularly. I hope they get it right as despite the issues we all have had with them over various things in the last 4 years they are the company that has brought F1 back to us after some very barren years.

My race two video from last night.. Waddell you are a marked man lol

Just realised that my chatting does not come out on the video.. is that normal?

EDIT: @Robert Waddell watch from about 9:05 in the video and you'll see hte mess they've made of this ghosting car when cutting corners

Great Video! Remind me to turn my mic down next time or shut up. lol. Wish my voice was deleted from the tape. Not sure why your was not there Peter. For some reason, I thought no voices were there in F1, but maybe we are just much more quiet in that league?

I see what you mean by messy ghosting car. They had a chat about that before the game was released and Codemasters answer was "players will have to realize that cars will not stay ghosted forever...." lol. Well, the trouble from what I saw was that it was hard to tell just where the ghosted car is and how long it will stay ghosted. I've tried these massive corner cuts at Brands and stayed ghosted for 5-6 seconds, so it's different depending on the severity of the cut (according to what the game perceives). I like the fact that they punish it, but you obviously took the short end of the stick on that one.

That's just a great video thought. I can see why Karl watched us. I did the same thing one race on Race Pro (where you could record your races) when HRH and Supaslax had this massive battle at Zandvoort in the WTCC cars. I could not take my eyes off of it. It seemed like a real race. In the end, that's why I think Codemasters got "it" right here, whatever "it' is. You don't see that sort of stuff much in F1. It's like playing tennis...you are really battling yourself. Many more of these to come hopefully! Wish we had Chris and Railer's video. When Railer gets in the zone, he's as dangerous as anyone.

I'm uploading my vids now. It seems to take forever these days.

Agree with everything Peter said about the A.I. And yes, they are always on "very hard" in the races. I've noticed that their times drop off from qualy to races, so I think with longer races, they are a good match for us, and we can usually get ahead of them on "very hard" setting. But in the challenges and in the shorter practice races I do, I use "very hard' also and have much more trouble because they beat you up sometimes and it's harder to pass them in a short period of time.

TBH I am taking pretty much everything I hear from them with a king sized pinch of salt.. how many times have we heard it's almost ready? Hopefully by the time I am back in this series it will be with us because it's a game killer right now with almost completely empty lobbies every time I check. Been trying for over a week to get this leveling up going but it's just not happening.

Any time before 9pm your time today> We could level up the BTCC cars real quick (remember, you might make the 2nd one). Or anyone else out there...I'll be free. Tomorrow I'm off, so let's get together sometime. It will only take a few minutes. I don't think those cars are corrupt. I only have a MINI and a Chevy Cruise.

I can't race midnight guys, maybe saturday, I knew Karl will wipe all out :p, congratulations Champ.

Normally, the races will have to start earlier on Saturdays since I will work, but I happened to have the last couple (and this one coming up) off, so we can start later. But that was mainly to help Peter out, so if you can definitely make an earlier start, and it's OK with everyone else, we can go earlier. And I mean real early...that might allow Railer to make the race too, since he has a wedding that night. What do you all suggest?

I might get on later but it is unlikely to be before 9pm i'm afraid Robert and tomorrow I am at work all day. Besides I won't be around for the BTCC ones unfortunately unless the second race date is changing. I am away from the 9th to the 16th and unlikely to be back in time to race the one scheduled on that day. The next definite race date I can make is the one on the 30th if I remember correctly.

BTW I checked my Mini last night and it was on level 15 but still had the pretty useless basic tuning. I thought level 15 unlocked more. Do all the cars require the same levels or are they different for each one. I am assuming the latter as in the other car I have is a lower level than the Mini but has a couple of more options open. I think I also saw that a couple of them could be opened to basic level at a cost... It's just a confusing mess lol.

I will likely take a slightly different route, although I agree with your analysis. Since I want to give Forza 5 a chance (and I have a soft spot for Road Atlanta), even though I doubt it's race ready, it would be fun to play on my own or with a couple of friends in a one off or something. More SIM like and I'm all for that. But the real shove is going to be Project Cars for me. I think November is pretty solid and from all indications, this is as close to Assetto Corsa as we will be on the console so far. I can see many types of leagues stemming of if it. And I'll probably stay with F1 on the 360 if my buddies do...what's the point of having slick game if you can't race your mates, no? Hopefully we can generate some more interest (watch for a profile on Race Department GRID League on their blog soon!) and make this Autosport thing a real hit. Glad to see the patch is round the corner. I'm not all that miffed by it, for some reason. I'll get my original file back (which has all the cars for this season) and can level them up pretty quickly.
