i had lots of fun tonight, whether racing or spectating. wish i didn't get taken out so early by the AI though....lol

just had a quick go with the cars we're meant to drive next time... the chevy is probably the best. 1:26.51. The other cars are all slower and twitchy i think

Sorry about the time confusion guys. got an PM from Bram that explained that GMT was actually t the same as "British Time" since right now it is GMT +1 in London, for instance. He explained GMT is the standard here because it's the central reference point for all of our clocks and never changes. So, right now, where I am, we are GMT -4. I'll list all of the races at U.S. Eastern and GMT. Just know that GMT does not mean "what time it is in Britain." See http://www.timeanddate.com/library/abbreviations/timezones/eu/gmt.html

I'll have videos up later, but these were some of the most enjoyable, closely contested and fun races I have been a part of since starting racing in leagues. The MINIs sure do allow a wide latitude for creative approaches and we all seem to be so close to one another in time. These cars drive like they should, when tuned -- virtually impossible to do a doughnut, but tacky and responsive around the corners, with a certain amount of slide that comes whenever you put a street legal car on a race track. What a brilliant feel.

Railer and I has some close battles in the first race, never before have I been involved in such artistry and excitement (in a game) while swapping the lead. Hats off to Railer for racing me clean but hard as hell. Felt like we were on a real track together. In the end, I just could not hold him off, and in fact was probably holding him up, because he took off into the distance...and in the second race proved he could run with the leaders. Because of a few bobbles (it always seems to take me a wile to get settled in, in any series, which is why I personally enjoy this two race format), I was last in Race 1. Great Race Karl. Loaner or no loaner, you obviously have the feel of these cars down. I shudder to think when would happen when you, Chris, and Boothy all get leveled up.

The second race was so much fun, I'll just let the video speak for itself. Karl's running commentary during his unfortunate spectator session only heightened the drama, as Peter and I swapped a little paint, creatively repositioned each others' car while keeping our line somewhat in tact, and generally came through a battle (which was clean, intense, and fun for MANY laps) that went down to the last lap of the last race. Unfortunately, I don't think I got this recorded, but you can get an idea of where were were headed from he battle scars all throughout the majority of the race, it seems. Thanks Peter, for a battle like it should be, and a prolonged one at that. I do, however, think you will eventually pass me when you get the tunes down. Great job Chris in your comeback win. Vindication. I'm not saying i like the fact that you were taken out by an A.I. in the first race, but it does seem more lifelike to me, since leaders periodically have run-ins with lesser drivers and end up out of the competition. However, you were the man to beat, no doubt.
Looking forward to the next series

Race Format
TOURING CLASS -- There will be a qualifying session to start after a minute in the menu section to get your car tuned if you own it (but it's best to pre-tune it from your garage). The qualifying session will be in the form of a race (since there is no on-line qualifying) of three laps, from a standing start. (Don't forget, if there is A.I. in the race, the qualifying session and subsequent line-up will include A.I. slotted to their respective times). Following this, there will be two races of 30 minutes each (or the equivalent number of laps it would take the best A.I. driver to reach 30 minutes). Grid order will be qualifying order for Race 1 and order of finish of Race 1 for Race 2.
Grids of less than 8 drivers will be filled out with A.I. on "very hard" difficulty.

Be careful because the game does not allow pit stops, so repeated damage (indicated by icons on the right lower HUD and progressive in increments of yellow then red) due to a well developed damage model could seriously compromise your race.
Flashbacks: None
Tuning: Allowed
Upgrades: Disallowed
View: Any
Gears: Manual or Automatic
Assists: Disallowed

Was there supposed to be a video with that post Robert?

Totally agree with your comments anyway, had a real blast last night and thoroughly enjoyed it. Very different races for me, held onto 2nd behind Hemps for a while before Karl caught me up and although I almost wiped him out at one point when he just disappeared from my screen down the main straight and I moved over on him he got me on the next lap and then a few laps later one of the AI (Nathan McKane) bumped me off and I then lost touch and was running hte rest of my race alone. I cold hear that Robert and Railer were in the middle of a real ding-dong which helped me stay about half the straight ahead of them both but once Railer got clear of that battle he gradually clawed me back. With 5 laps to go he was on the same bit of straight as me and with my untuned car lacking the gearing to out pace him there I knew that once he got close it was curtains with the draft. He finally got close enough on the very last lap and drew right up to my rear on the run to the flag with me decided to take the inside line it proved to be the right move as we crossed the line just 2/tenths apart.. PHEW.. 20 lpas and just 2/tenths splitting us that was great :) Another 10 metres and that was Railers position for sure lol

Second race was a total blast..again I held onto Hemps tail for a while but with Railer and Robert in close chase 30 metres or so behind. Had a nice dice with Railer but he was just to quick for me here and got past after a few laps leaving me and Robert to start a brilliant battle that lasted to the end. Just so much fun and it swung one way then the next for lap after lap. Robert took the Nascar route after I passed him a couple of times lol and actually had me up on two wheels around turn 2 at one point lol So much fun with some really nice moves and counter moves throughout. Great stuff Robert and a lot of laughs too :roflmao:

These races look like they are going to be the most fun possible so all the more gutted to be missing a bunch of them from now on.

I recorded the second race (forgot all about it for the first one DOH!!) but can't be arsed with the editing process on my computers so might just upload it in it's entirety.. there is something going on pretty much the whole race anyway lol

Took this from the other thread.. I assume that was a 1:26.51 on this track Karl? I just had a go myself in the same car and am even more gutted to be missing out now. Such a briliant track to drive in these cars and I managed a 1:26.84 so there could have been some close racing again here.

Can't believe how much speed you can take through so many of the corners that look as though they need braking and dropping down the gears. Took me several laps until I realised and then built up the confidence to take them with the speed that they are capable of. With tuning I can imagine a couple of seconds coming off that time too.
