Tried everything but nothing would allow me into the game while still connected to XBL. After that final chat before you started the race I tried F1 2013 again and this time had exactly the same problem so it's not the game but XBL as Booth stated.

Not a happy bunny... Of all the times for this to happen had to be on our first races.

I'm so very sad that this happened to Peter, of all people. I'd rather of taken the hit myself.
There will be plenty more races, as this is a learning experience, especially for those of us who have not played the game much and are used to the deep refinements of F1. Karl was mentioning the lack of split times, which is true, but I think to include all these cars and different handing characteristics, they had to compromise other things. I should just post a sticker up in the right left corner of my T.V. that says "LAST...Don't worry about catching the next guy." But with some practice and some track we are familiar with, the racing will be closer, either with each other or the A.I.

Speaking of the A.I., I had probably one of the most enjoyable battles (either A.I. or human) with another car about mind-way through race two. You will see it on the replay video. A driver from Mexico raced me clean as I could ask for under the circumstances and I ended up damaging myself trying to pass him. That was a load of fun.

The first race was sort of a no-man's-land for me, as I tooled around the back of the pack, damaged early. I did notice that you was sustain a good bit of damage and, adjusting your driving style slightly, can stay almost at the same pace. And GOOD news Peter -- none of that losing 5th gear crap online. So shift how you please!

Overall, I think Karl (with his natural driving ability) got me in Race 1 and I got him in Race 2. (Side note: regarding the audio, make sure your "dynamic range is on "high" and you have it set to whatever you use...headphones in my instance....and turn everything down to 50% by the engine.) I look forward to many more battles with you Karl. If you want to purchase a MINI just do this -- 1) Sell your VW Golf; 2) race a few of the RaceNet Challenges; and 3) Buy a MINI for 30,000. Then go to a few public lobby races or grab one of us when on line and we will get you to level 16 (baseline tuning capability) in no time. You can also paint your car as you wish or use the Race Department Livery like Hemps did.

I do think, though that we will have to scrap the upgrading of parts for subsequent races idea. I think upgrading your tuning as you wish is good enough incentive to own your own car. For the guys that have loaners, I think parts upgrades would be a bit too lopsided of an advantage just because they don't play online as much. But I do encourage everyone to buy their own car...one at a time...until the patch comes out.

Also, because there is no qualifying in online races and I can't adjust the starting order(as your saw) for each race, I'll just have to amend the rules -- 3 lap shootout, standing start, fastest combined time wins. In other words, just a mini-race to qualify and to warm up the bones. Then the game will order us in order of finishing position from that point forward, A.I. included.

Thanks for our patience on this one. I know it got pretty late over in the U.K. Sorry again about xbox Peter. Many more to come.

Karl, I'll be happy to try and provide any answers I can. Although I can't improve the game design, I think most of us sort of like the racing itself. It does take some practice with the game though. And getting your own car with the ability to tune it will help.

Have a go at Custom Cup in Single-Player from the main menu and simulate the next race or close. I think you will fine the experience much more deeper and rewarding, but practicing this way helps orient you to what's going on when your engineer is taken away online (have no idea why they did that...stupid).

that was frustrating.
The racing or the game Karl?

I saw Robert mention above about your missing the lap time info and I agree with your if that's the case. I like that information to be available too and the fact they mage it worse by removing the engineer feedback from the online side of the game was dumb!!

No idea why they have hamstrung the online side of the game so much (online requirement to purchase and level up cars, no practice or quali like you get offline either which is just ludicrous, especially no quali) makes it feel as though the online aspect was a bit of an after thought in some respects. It's a real shame as the game has so much going for it but mainly in its offline mode.

@Karl Fuss Robert can provide most of the answers you will need and this thread gives you the info about the quickest way to help purchase and level up cars online:-

http://www.racedepartment.com/threads/atcc-drivers-can-level-up-get-rich-by.89436/

It's a particular bugbear of mine and taken the wind out of my sails for the game in regard to the online stuff as it doesn't fit in with what I can do unfortunately but if you are able to spend more time online it seems to be the way to go so that you can get the cars you need and the ability to tune them which is quite important in the game.

You can earn enough money in the Racenet Challenges (which are a lot of fun) to buy a fair amount but it doesn't always afford you the ability to use your own car and therefore level them up to allow tuning so for that the above method is needed.
