Did you drive over the line as well Robert? Ironic you got dsq'd following our discussing on the whole corner cutting issue. It's one those things that is very frustrating when it happens to you like that and one of the things I have always complained about.. Just like the over leniency at other times. This track and Monza are the same in that regard so I'm always very careful to keep on the grey stuff but sometimes incidents like yours occur. My race was spoiled by being punted from behind and losing a front wing 18 laps from home while closing down on my team mate.. Glad Montreal is done and dusted.

There is no evolution at Codemasters. In fact, this year, its gone backward and sideways, hence the abysmal sales and lack of participation and massive frustration. But oh well, maybe that will drive some over here to the outlands out of frustration, although Austria is a pretty Circuit. I'm looking forward to the practice, not he race, but the only games I play on the 360 these days that are worth a crap were made 1-4 years ago. Where is that copy of Race Pro...lol?

Silver lining-- got some good testing in at Nakheel. Feel very good about that one now. Fast lap so far is 1:21.4, but I think I can get that down. That, was in a race, but here is the qualification video:

If anyone can benefit, I'm running the VW and here is the setup I use. I go through about 1 hour of testing to get it optimized. I test each settings from about 4-6 different settings, sometimes more.

First I do a brake test (here is the dirt and on the pavement) and then the Diff., to dial that crucial component in w/o interference from the rest, then ride height, then so on until I get to the critical components of suspension. For them, U usually test them in unison, unless I need more steering reaction of it's very tight track or vise versa.

Oh course, using an AWD vehicle, the settings are counter-intuitive from what they would be otherwise. so I just went by lap ties and set of the pants. But with each component the numbers improved.

Robert I'm sure you've seen all videos on Pcars, but I saw this one and got pretty excited. I would love to run a GT4 Championship League and work our way up to the GT1 series. Graphics look great and I like the cars and immersion. Now I just need an Xbone.
And an expensive new wheel of course oh and don't forget the small matter of getting the game released ;)

The game looks fantastic for sure, biggest issue for me now is that following Roberts wheel issue I'm reluctant to shell out on one so I'll be watching to see how he gets on with their customer service.

I know more about pCARS that I care to admit. I'm going to try and head up the pCARS xbox section on here, but anyone who wants to run a league can apply. I don't plan on running a "GT4 League and then working up" since interest on this site appears to be far beyond that. My ultimate interest in running an IndyCAr series. I may consider running leagues before that if there is enough interest, but they will be specific to a given series, like DTM or British Touring Car. When do you think you will get an Xbox One and Wheel?

none until a new set comes out Tuesday. Maybe then.
I'm still confused as to how you have time for 3-4 or more challenge races, which are 3 laps a shot, bit don't have time to run 5 one lap races with a friend that will get you to the same level, if not higher? I know Karl, Michael and Railer are hard to find, but I'm not and have offered several times. The one time I got frustrated was because people left when I needed help, after I repeatedly made myself available for those who needed to level.

So I do understand you frustration in a way, which is why we specifically tried to dumb down the cars, since nobody wanted to try and get together to help others level. Almost as if they preferred to practice alone, or run career. But hey, like you say, horses for courses, I guess.

I guess any future series will have to have VERY slow cars in it, since I'm not going to be a part of a series that tries to run an untuned Pagani or anything close to a Muscle Car.

Would work just as good for you Peter, I'm sure. Or stiff springs, that you seem to prefer. Failing that, a loaner would not make much difference wither, since you like lower gears, and the diff is definitely too high at +100. The only thing you might miss is the lower ride height.

I’ve only actually run two of the challenges in the past few months.. the Open Wheel one when we were in the Xbow for our league race and the Hockenheim one which run the cars from our last race and both of those were run only when no one else was around at the time I was online. Other than that I’ve been on with you most mornings and plenty of lunch times that I have got on track. I’ve enjoyed the actual time we spend on track at the locations we are racing because it’s good practice and does get some levelling done and that’s the reason I kept avoiding the single lap grind outs.

One thing is that the Challenge races are fun and actual races where you get motivasted to get as good a time as possible while at the same time also levelling the car up almost as a secondary side of it as opposed to the levelling up grind of just running single laps. The challenges do also tend to level you up quicker I found… at least at Abu Dhabi and Hockenheim were very good in that respect.

I knew that it was getting very frustrating for you in the same way it was for me before which is why I try wherever possible to make some mornings and lunchtimes for at least a quick half hour run outs. The last week or so thats been more difficult to do though.

I got up this morning and ran a quick practice, quali and 5 lapper to get the frustrations of last night out of my system. Did 10 minutes practice with the default tune before making one change on the diff which I already have the basic tune capability for. Hit a 1:21.6 which was enough for 2nd spot on the grid. Had a fun race, holding my second place through the first couple of turns with Westley keeping the lead. Almost snuck under him a couple of times at the hairpins but he was wise and undercut me on the exit to stay ahead (nice to see some clever AI racing J). I eventually got past on the second lap and although never pulling away by any great margin came home with a fairly comfortable victory and a fastest lap of 1:21.8.

Very much a fun track to race and getting that car close to the walls is important to a good lap around here. I would think a sub 1:20 is on but a bit more of a tune will be needed for that I think. I have quarters on the suspension and basic on the rest so hopefully a few practice races will see that capability increase.

I think you will run really well here Robert and especially now you have more time to spend at the track on the 360.. the one consolation to your XBO wheel blues but I do hope they get sorted really quickly for you.

Funny you should mention Race Pro, I got that out of the cupboard the other day and it's sitting on my rig waiting for me to give it a run out again.

Amazing how quick you are right out of the box. Years of playing I guess, but NOT FAIR! lol. When can I get you on a real track?

The tuning helped me go from about a 1:23 to a 1:21. So, I figure with MUCH more practice, I can be around 1:19 is some rare cases. I too took a stab at a 14 lap race and came in third. Very Hard A.I. so for a street course, I'm of to a good start at least. They usually kill me at these kind of places.

I think you are right in that I'm not using th whole track, but it's risky, as you say. I'll have plenty of time this week to practice, so I look forward to improving on this glorious track and helping anyone who wants to level up. Doubt Watts needs it, but Railer and you might. Karl too. But he will be fast anyway, along with Boothy. If we see Boothy. His PS4 must have him memorized. And you are right about the wheel. Why waste time with a great bunch of friends just to play a game you will not be dedicated to for a long time.

The diff tune got me into the 1:21's I put my diff at +100 again, same as at Barcelona and it just makes such a difference for me in the corners. Everything else was in the middle but I think you may be right about having a stiffer suspension, i'll try that out next time i'm on.

I showed Robert how to level up solo and also have fun doing it. Creating Custom Rooms with no collision and AI you can level up quickly as well. You are fast enough to finish in front in most cases so you can run some races and meet new people at the same time. I have fun running on Grid. The settings of No Upgrades, No Assists, and Forced Cockpit view usually keep the Riff-Raff out.

That's what I used to try but never got any takers at all so gave up on it. Maybe there are more playing now than back then or maybe it's the time zone thing.

it kinda is a zone thing I think, a time zone, but yeah a lot of people dropped off when GAS was having all the freezing issues. Now it seems like its pretty much back to full strength. There are a lot of [AOR] guys racing all the time all day long. That's why I joined that club so I could always have someone to race with. All Out Racing #1 ranked club in the world over 50 members strong.

I ain't joining any non Race Department club just to sit and wait for people to play with. I'd rather run stock. I wear my colors proudly. The GRID folks are amatuers and arcadesmen in the big picture anyway.
But I think you did open my eyes to how many people are back to Autosport. I think it's the best we have on the 360 right now. Shift is better, IMO. Miles better, but only if you get the feel just right and, as you know, that's hard for some.
