Sorry but couldn't stick with it any longer than those few laps tonight. Least enjoyable run out I've had in this game

I got on to start a Barcelona F1 practice race but when I got your invites and saw that there were only three of you I thought I would give you another body and give it a bash despite never having tried these cars. Big mistake!! Probably chose the wrong car too which didn't help but I didn't know any of them so had no clue which one was the easier to drive but suffice to say I can't jump in these without practice so lesson learnt.

I am probably going to have to miss the Monaco F1 race in a fortnight's time so may get in some track time for the next of these races instead and join you at Yas but I'll let you know nearer the time. Shift 2 may be calling me that week instead as I've not had any chance to run it since I got it other than a quick run at London :)

Hope the races went well.

Thanks for the effort Peter. Your heart's always in the right place.. I know how you feel. I was just a bit more familiar, but with no practice, I was soon toast. This wasn't really meant to be a series that we intensely practice for, but I can't blame those who do. Michael and Railer has a good battle as I watched. My Mazda simply had brakes that I could not get used to. But here is the video. Go to the end for the battle.

I'm not keeping score for this series. If anyone else wants to, be my guest. Peter, I may just join you in Shift2. I'd rather run that anyway....I'm sort of burnt out on GRID, but I still enjoy the cars we have not run. At least Shift2 is a challenge and much more user friendly. At least we might be able to have a co-op deal informally if nobody else wants to race it.

I enjoyed the race yesterday, but I'm still going to focus more on the Gridarc Championship. I hadn't really practiced that track and car much more than when I ran with you and Railer and one other time online with a bunch of guys. But I'd like to run some Shift 2 races as long it doesn't take away from our Grid racing. Robert you looked good out front, until you over cooked it into that hairpin. I think if we had gotten some more practice I could have gotten some more speed out you  I'm no expert by any means but I've had experience running the Super and Hyper cars on Street courses in Career mode. Maybe you can show me some pointers on Shift 2 as you are a bit faster than me on there. I haven't run any races online, with shift 2 so I don't know how that works, but maybe I can be enlightened.

Thanks for the gesture Michael. Shift2 was frustrating, as you can see. It definitely requires lots of tinkering and when you have independent wheel settings, game settings, and steering tuning, it can be a nightmare. But I found a comfort zone through hours of work. It requires a different tune for each car too. However, IMO, Shift2 is a more rewarding game if you can enjoy the driving. Many cannot. My offer still stands--anytime you want, just grab me or tell me when you can be on and we can coordinate. I fear, though, it's too late.

All the leagues seem to be in a shambles right now, either due to bad products being released by Codemasters or because folks are simply moving on. I'll have very little, if any prep for these side race too. If things are falling apart on the 360, I can't force them to stay together.

The new league seems like a non-starter (may cancel it) and the old one has about 3-4 dedicated drivers left. You, my friend, being the most dedicated of them all. Just racing with you, Railer, and Peter is good enough for me, though.

Another idea is to just screw F1 (in shambles too) and run a Shift2 series at the same time or right after they run on Sunday. I'll withdraw as a reserve, and if you are serious about it, I'm sure yo will dig in, and Railer may play. F1 will cut Peter out, since his #1 game all along has been F1. So there are all sorts of minefields. Peter was right... fractured! :O_o:

Strange the differences of opinion on the AI in this game. Personally I love them most of the time  Yes now and then they are reckless but I always find that providing I am smooth and deliberate in my movements they are fine and provide a really good challenge.

I've been racing games \ sims since the 80's so i've a pretty wide ranging experience of all types of AI over those years.

I find the A.I. much the same as Peter does. This equals the best A.I. on the 360, IMO. Yes, they are aggressive, but they should be. I'm 100% certain that 99% of us are more aggressive with A.I. than with human players. The only flaw is that they are a bit heavy. They should react to a hit the same way I do and go flying, but they don't, at least most of the time. This is a problem in the beginning, but as they spread out, it's hardly noticeable and they are in my perfect range at "very hard".

I don't mind running some Shift2 just for fun. I don't think I'll drop the $9 to unlock all of the Cars. But it seems pretty fun in its progression. I love to tinker with setups and would love to tune the cars for some good racing. I will be hopelessly stuck on the 360 until I can afford both a wheel and Xbone, but I'm looking forward to switching over sometime in the Summer. Depending on my tax refund it may come even sooner. What kind of leagues do they have for Forza 5??? I don't know if I'd be into the classic Japanese sports cars, but maybe some kind touring series.

Karl, am I correct in saying you are busier and things get almost too frantic over the holidays for you? You have had a busy schedule. I guess that's good, but there comes a point when I just want relatives to go away. lol. Or at least, don't come in waves! lol.

i hate the holidays. there is too much.... it usually slows down by now, but my wife is so social, i can only stay home by myself so much, and around the holidays it's impossible to say no.

Who's wearing the racing suit in your house???... LoL, j/k I know what you mean, Karl. But my wife understands my other Mistress is Racing. It was my first love, since stepping into a go-kart age 9. It's either let me race or deal with a depressed, Grumpy Gus. Perhaps, if you make yourself unbearable when you Can't race she'll indulge you a bit more.

For some reason, xbox live was acting up today, unless Peter was just mad at me for some reason. He's disliking my posts now. lol.

In any case, I'm glad we got the time we did. Sorry my sound crapped out and I had to reboot. When I came back on, I created a room, invited you twice, then it kicked me off of live. So I just gave up at that point. I'm SUPER excited to run your base tune at the oval, though, and I hope the settings on the wheel and in game helped with the road course feel. A little tweaking should do the trick if not. Then again, your wheel is not broken. But play enough NASCAR and it will be! lol. (I do think the FFB in that game, 2014, was insane, along with other glaring problems. It makes F1 2014 look like Assetto Cora).

Oh well, at least there is some interest in Shift2, with Karl, Railer, Peter, you, me, and maybe a couple of others. However, I do think the pad users will kick our ass. E.A. dumbed the handling and tire model down the same way CM did with 2014. Luckily, if you have the right wheel or work for about 300 hours on settings, you can get around it.

lol I haven't disliked any posts of yours Robert... At least I don't think I have. My connection (wireless... Won't have the cable for a few days) has been an issue for the last few days so I assumed it was just me. I had a lot of fun for the time I was on, Laguna Seca was just mega, I forgot how much fun that track is to drive as it's not one I've had the chance to drive since the PC days. The corkscrew

Laguna is special. Just saw it live a few years back. Even more impressive. It's laser scanned on Forza5, which has some tracks that you don't see anywhere else. So, at your request, it's added to the supplemental calendar, as is London. You have to pick the London route though.

I was half kidding Peter, I know you don't do that, and I don't either. But it was funny to see. Must have been a quick click.

Laguna is in! But you are not. lol. Oh well. Tell us which London course is best. I have picked track (9) you can hardly find anywhere else. Wheel feels great for a change, and the game immersion is wonderful. They got the car feel right. Still some flaws, but with the websites guiding us on tunes and settings, it's going to be just fine.
