Dunno about simmy but there is some requisites for arcade titles this miss.

Rubber band effect. It´s not very pronounced in this game at all. I was running an endurance event just waiting for the AI to loose all grip and let me win on the last lap. I lost a couple of places on my really worn tires instead! - sim

Steering is optimized for gamepads but it does work quite well but yes this is arcade.
I can´t map my separate usb pedals correctly - arcade

hard as heck - simulation

I am getting owned like crazy in endurance with a crappy mclaren at brands hatch on hard. This should be my forte :(. Hockenheim I struggled too but if everything whent my way I could have gotten 4th. Seriously need to choose series where I can adjust the setup it looks like to be competitive. And you actually need to practise to win races unlike GT 5 or ridge racer or burnout paradise. There is actually physics you must learn.

Previous race in an open wheeler went better for me however still did not win easilly. But I should not be able to drive open wheelers fast at all.
You should check out our league racing here... second season well underway with an alternative SuperCar Series series running alongside it is to start soon. We've had a blast in this game. Whether sim \ arcade or simcade the name of the game is enjoyment and this game gives us it in spades.

I can probably make most of these. looks like a fun series. Im not a big fan of the Hypercars on the street courses, but I imagine we can put them through their paces on a Real race track.

I'll be on this evening if anyone wants to run some laps in these cars. The GT40 will need some finesse to get around Autosport's Tri-oval. I wasn't expecting it to not turn when I first drove it. But It will definitely take some talent to get into turn three and come out the other side in one piece. I'm going to record some runs with my shitty camera for those that are curious.

I've read reviews of this game on the big video game sites (they're pretty good) but I'd really like to know what people who are more into sims think of this game.

Is it a sim? Is it less, or more, simmy than -say- Forza or the GT series? Is it as simmy as rFactor, or is it more NFS?

I'd love to know what you think.

Its totally not a sim at all..it could be close with just a few adjustments but even only the fact that AI cars are heavier and drive totally reckless destroys every tiny bit of sim-ness....sim is not just the right power-grip etc variables of the cars but also the <<soul>> of the ai....furthermore the easiest way to make a game seem like simulator is a habbit of some companies and aparts mostly from some simple things

1)reduced grip (mostly at front)
2)reduced steering lock deegrees
3)soft suspensions (boat effect on turning)
4)high center of mass
5)reduced power than reality
6)increased crash-spinout factors
7)sudden loss of grip (mosty at turns)
8)camera shaking and vibrations even for tiny enviroment changes
9)reduced brake power

if u just make a car like 700hp with like 80s technology 90% of gamers consider it as a sim

i play all kind of racing-rally games for 18 years now these 9 tricks are the most common for companies to birth their games sim

My bet is that you will soon find the sweet spot and be smokin' the A.I. It's a blast to drive, but if you can find a car that we have not run, and is as fast and challenging, please let me know.

I think this may come down to a choice between running the series w/o Peter (he has F1 anyway) or waiting for him until after ROC. I really despise the idea of doing anything without him, since he is co-director, voice of reason, etc. But it may be if we all want more Autosport, this is the only way.

You know, I have a fever, and the only prescription...is more cowbe...I mean Autosport.

Strange the differences of opinion on the AI in this game. Personally I love them most of the time  Yes now and then they are reckless but I always find that providing I am smooth and deliberate in my movements they are fine and provide a really good challenge.

I've been racing games \ sims since the 80's so i've a pretty wide ranging experience of all types of AI over those years.

Thanks for the suggestion @Matthew Booth, really apprecate it. However, if the numbers are there to get it going then I guess it's best to do so especially if many are disappearing come the end of March \ April. I'll still be racing Autosport regardless and it would be good to see our leagues continue with it but I'll happily go to the career mode of the game and spend my time in that until I take my upgrade path

On that note @Michael Watts you seem to do a lot of career racing, how is that in this game?

Career is fun Peter. I learned most of the tracks that way and the cars. Now you barely have any tuning available unless you race for Ravenwest, which you will find is your biggest rival in the game. But you should be used to the lack of tuning, LoL. I've all but completed my career as I'm almost level 10 in each series. But I had hella fun last night, Online. I was in a Custom Cup with 12 guys that all had "Thousands" of races under their belts. And I managed to Eek out a win in a John Cooper Works Mini at Hockenhiem. Talk about good fun racing we finished with second place .160 at the line, and virtually no contact even with me starting in 6th. It was super fun!

Had incredible races last night. Once we got going race 1 was try to catch Boothy, man is he fast. Maybe it was my gearing but I was able to catch him up on the straights and got close enough at the finish.
Race 2, what a start. I got a jump on Boothy and he did his Schumy impersonation coming right towards me but we were almost neck and neck. I didn't realise till after watching Robert's replay that our wheels actually touched. I think I took out the 100 ft. sign. I did my normal turn 1 braking point and started my turn in. From my viewpoint Boothy braked later but went wide and a pink car went flying by. Sorry, for the comment but I thought you had ran into Boothy. In the heat of trying to turn in at turn 1 and avoid the pink car. Tried to get a gap and for a few laps I was able. Sad to see Boothy DNF, due to damage. The video was incredible seeing Robert t-bone Boothy. I now saw why Watts wasn't catching as Boothy and Watts came together just after turn 1.
Quite a bit of passing with me and Hemps swapping the lead every couple laps.
I decided to keep my line and Hemps got past at the 2nd straight and I thought I had enough time and speed to catch him. I was slowed up on a few corners but was never able to mount a solid incident free pass on Hemps. The last few corners I was sure I was going to get around but Hemps kept to the inside line. Great race and incredible our lap times.

I have some crappy video of the GT40 at Autosport and Indy. I think it is a very good car at Indy too. The racing was pretty normal until the tires start to get under 50% Then it gets tricky. The Tri-Oval at Autosport proved to be the toughest corner, requiring a perfect entry and exit. Turn three can be driven pretty hard but you still have to lift and maybe even tap the brakes to glide the car into the turn and maintain control when racing around others. I preferred the High line. In both races I was able to qualify on pole, and win with AI on Very Hard. They will absolutely hang with you in the Offline races. I tried the Mazda at Autosport and was only able to qualify 9th. The car is wound up at about 215, but stick really well. Only problem was passing the leader was very difficult and I had to settle for 2nd after trying every trick in the book to get by. I think the Mazda is a little more downforce dependent, as opposed to the Ford that is probably held back by aero. I'll post the video sometime tomorrow, and you can see for yourself.
On a side note: If you want to try some of the Hypercars I set a Target Lap time in the Street Challenge this week. Drive all 4 and see what you think. I was quite disappointed in the McLauren's performance.

Congrats again to Hemps. Seems like when You and Railer race you seem to elevate each others performance. I didn't have anything for you guys even if my car hadn't been smashed. I'm just happy to move on to the next round. I struggle in cars that have high power/weight ratios :poop:

When They started pulling away from me in the closing laps I thought I must be doing something wrong without realising it but when I crossed the line with a 2:08's it suddenly dawnwed on me that they must have found a way to implement KERS and DRS in these brilliant little cars ;)
