I have some crappy video of the GT40 at Autosport and Indy. I think it is a very good car at Indy too. The racing was pretty normal until the tires start to get under 50% Then it gets tricky. The Tri-Oval at Autosport proved to be the toughest corner, requiring a perfect entry and exit. Turn three can be driven pretty hard but you still have to lift and maybe even tap the brakes to glide the car into the turn and maintain control when racing around others. I preferred the High line. In both races I was able to qualify on pole, and win with AI on Very Hard. They will absolutely hang with you in the Offline races. I tried the Mazda at Autosport and was only able to qualify 9th. The car is wound up at about 215, but stick really well. Only problem was passing the leader was very difficult and I had to settle for 2nd after trying every trick in the book to get by. I think the Mazda is a little more downforce dependent, as opposed to the Ford that is probably held back by aero. I'll post the video sometime tomorrow, and you can see for yourself.
On a side note: If you want to try some of the Hypercars I set a Target Lap time in the Street Challenge this week. Drive all 4 and see what you think. I was quite disappointed in the McLauren's performance.

This is great stuff Michael. The way you describe the GT40 at Autosport is exactly what I was looking for -- a car that is fast, all American, yet not able to be driven at the limit and even less so as the tires wear. That way, it's not just a pedal to the metal snoozefest.

The Mazda, I agree is not a perfect choice, but I can't seem to find any other "open wheeler" to replace it. Maybe the A1? The B class open wheel. That seems to be a fast car, but, unlike the Mazda, the open wheel cars get a much better draft. Plus, the A1 is stable and easy to drive, like the Mazda. Any thoughts?

The great thing about the Hypercars is that there are so many to choose from. For those who like a loose car, the McLaren is probably not the best choice. In fact, when I drove the Bugatti, I liked it better. But they are all different, which is key. I'll get on that challenge tonight. And thanks for the video. I'll post the sign up for Saturday's race soon.

Oh yeah and I'm not around on the 31st (wifes birthday so off out) so unfortunately can't make the Indy race that evening.

I think we have talked about postponing this to Sunday also. Can everyone do this...but Boothy :whistling: (who has apparently not seen the Brickyard 400...if it's a car, and there is a track....it's suited. lol).

I cant do Sunday Feb1 I'll be traveling to Milwaulkee for work all week. Unless we run it at 8am or 9am EST Sunday or another time on Saturday. I've already got my boss to push back my Flight from Saturday so i can make the scheduled race time.

Its not that the Hypercars are bad, but they just don't belong on a Street Course because they are so scary fast, they belong an a Proper track where they can be exploited to their full potential

Exactly. That's why we are running them at F1 Circuits. Plenty of room. If you are talking Hypercars at ovals, yea, that's kind of out of place for them too. I just was trying to find a non-open wheeler (a la ALMS or something) that was fast too (but not flat out)...in a class we have not run before.

See opening section for Rules and Regs. This is meant to be fun, but still maintain the respect for other drivers a league tries to foster.

Feel free to choose any car listed for that week for the track we are running. You are NOT locked in to any car once you pick it, so picking the right car for the track comes into play, except for the ovals.

If you intend to be there, please let us know. Thanks.

Indianapolis Motor Speedway Oval (2.5 miles)

As you know, A.I. can be dangerous, and on a super-speedway, it is virtually impossible to compete while they are present. Be sure to pick your car well and stay out of trouble.
Lobby to open at 3:45pm U.S. Eastern and informal practice sessions may take place before, however, the race will start on time. Late drivers may join after qualifying or any race is complete. Points System

Points: 1-25; 2-18; 3-15; 4-12; 5-10; 6-8; 7-6; 8-4; 9-2; 10-1
(Each Race scores points)

Race Format
Oval Races:
Only loaner cars are eligible because of the performance variances between the conditioning. You will be allowed three (2) flashbacks during each race. Flashbacks set you back about 5 seconds before the "incident" took place that you wish to redo. You should be ghosted during this process. You may use them at any time, but best to use them if you get severely damaged or killed. Races will start from a standing start

Each race is of equal distance an will take about 15 minutes to complete, depending on various factors.

NOTE:
- The game will not allow pit stops
- Flashbacks WILL be allowed at oval races (2 each race) but not at other races.
- Damage will be “full”
- Collisions will be “on”
- Tuning will be "off" for oval races and loaner cars must be used.
- No A.I. for ovals.

Be careful because the game does not allow pit stops, so repeated damage (indicated by icons on the right lower HUD and progressive in increments of yellow then red) due to a well developed damage model could seriously compromise your race.

Upgrades: Disallowed
View: Cockpit
Gears: Manual or Automatic
Assists: Disallowed, except for Auto Gears
Racing Line: none

LOANER CARS -- Eligible for this race:
Tuner Class; Modified (loaner only); Ford Mustang Boss 302 Modified, Chevrolet Camaro SS Modified, Honda S2000 Modified.
