Things are moving at Codemasters
Haven't seen Railer online at all for a while but hopefully he will be able to make it. Running those two Racenet Challenges was a big help in getting used to these cars and gave a big boost up in the levelling (wish we could do that for all of them). I have been fortunate enough to have some early morning time before work and have also rushed home for lunch a couple of times too so thats been a big help in getting the track time for this oneI can do Sunday if it's ok with @Robert Waddell. Has anyone heard from Railer? Nice to see you getting some practice in Peter. I was able to hit 2.09.96X once online. I had my room up for about an hour an half online and had 5 or 6 people join me for Online Custom Cup practice vs AI on Hard. Of those 5 or 6 only one stuck around to run the second race (both were 5 laps day/night) No one could seem to stay with me, whether it was the fact I locked out assists or locked in the Cockpit view they would usually be several seconds to the rears and usually quit before the 3-4th lap . I even had some show up that had more XP than me and started in front but wouldn't stick around after I started to pull away. So I'll work on getting some more Practice either Tonight or Friday Night.
Oh hell. And he's in the Atom. It's going to suck to get spanked by an Atom, which is uncontrollable.Matthew Booth/Boothy116/Atom

It's only uncontrollable if you put it in the wrong gear into the corner If the rear kicks out your a gear too low Got Level up properly at some point to unlock what I need can do a 2:08.35 then
Well, i've done a 2:08.456 but i'm mainly in the 2:09's.It's only uncontrollable if you put it in the wrong gear into the corner If the rear kicks out your a gear too low Got Level up properly at some point to unlock what I need can do a 2:08.35 then
Sunday would be better for me for sureI have no problem running Sunday, since the goddamn NFL has turned into the WWF and my Steelers and my Dad's Cowboys are out. Hopefully the NFL will go the way of NASCAR an learn some lessons about tinkering with the core game.
Peter, I don't think you commented. Would Sunday be better for you? Same time? Earlier? Makes no never mind to me.
I too am loving this track. I shouldn't and I rally hate this designer look, but something about Yas is fun. I think it's the length combined with the corners being somewhat similar but different. The first two turns are a good example. I can take one or the other flat out but not both. And the chicanes before the straights are very dependent on getting the braking point right at differing speeds. The 3-corner apex right hander is sublime, and then the hard right afterward is perhaps the most nerve bending corner on the track...braking hard, turning, yet gliding too and over-steer abounds. That's the only corner I can't seem to shake it most of the time.
I too went out early this morning (apologies to Railer, but I just could not get out of work or get to my phone in the car) for some practice and some racing. My setup had changed drastically and I finally have a car that feels bolted to the ground, for the most part. As much as an open wheel car can be, at least. I just sort of had that "ah ha" moment where the track lines and tuning came together, even though I'm probably still slower than many. But not the A.I.!
I new I could pull out a fast one, so I did a two lap qualy and managed to pull a 2:10.683 out of it. That' my fastest lap here, but I'm much more consistent, running anywhere from 2:12 -2.10 in the race. Against "Very Hard" A.I. that was good enough for 4th on the grid.
The race started out kinda chippy, as the A.I. tend to bunch and slow until they get spread out, when they become really fun. I, um, nudged a car out of the way after getting the same treatment and found myself in third after lap one. That's where I stayed. I almost got past #2, but he pulled away at the end. I had a few mistakes, but at one point had the fastest lap of the race at 2:11.447, but that was later outdone by the lead A.I. in the 2:10s. Yes, there was some line shifting going on...those two pink cars were stalking me like Paris Hilton and Suzie Wolff. But I managed to stay ahead and pull away. No major mistakes and pretty consistent laps. In fact, have a look:
Always pretty much always have front and rear the same Michael, I run at about +50 on both here.Peter, just out of curiosity are you running your rear suspension "softer" or "stiffer". I can't seem to come to grips with the rear, or perhaps I just need more seat time with it to be comfortable. I'm running -30 on the rear (Very firm and happy with front grip), and I just feel like I can't push the car in sector 3 at all. It usually leads to a lot of oversteer and mistakes.
Well, i've done a 2:08.456 but i'm mainly in the 2:09's.
That's about a second ahead of us! But there still is time. . I had to learn about the gears the hard way. It also works in reverse.
