Clean racers to break the Forza virtual monotony (and the crashers) is desperately sought here as well. Loved Race 07 and GT2 but no sufficient PC at the moment. Recently purchased the MS FFB wheel off ebay to replace my bungie chorded MC2. I have the following racers and close to racers on Xbox 360:
Race Pro, F1 2011, Grid Autosport, Dirt 2, Forza 2/4, Horizon, Grid, NFS Shift 1/2, Indianapolis Evolution, PGR 3/4 (not fond of the Kudos>lap times aspect)
Gamertag: roist510
Feel free to add and /or throw me a "RD" message so I can reference Race Department forums.
By the way I'm on PST. I'm aware this often adds to lobby seeking conflict. :)

Peter, I'm sorry bud, saw you online racing grid but I was in the middle of the new Destiny DLC trying not to fall too far behind my friends on that game. Its definitly a co-op game. If you know when you are getting on again this week let me know. I'll try and run some laps with you.

No problem Michael, I managed to get in a 20 minute practice, 2 quali laps and a couple of 5 races in that session. The non-tuned car is a bit of a handful here :/ Best practice \ quali lap I managed was a low 2:30 so still some way to go. The first race (Hard AI) was fun but hard work and I ended up 3rd after some very tough fighting. Second race was so much fun. Started 5th (I think) and lost a couple of places into the first turn but gained them back around the first lap before fighting my way through the top 5 and grabbing the lead a couple of laps from home. Pulled a slight gap but a slight mistake in the esses on the final lap let the second car close but held on to win by 1.3 seconds. Top 3 seperated by 6 seconds with the others much further behind (15-48 seconds). Fastest lap came down from the 2:30's in race one to 2:28.823 in this one. Third race again starting further down the pack in 7th was enjoying a real good battle and had made my way up to 4th on lap 2 when the game froze on me with the unreadable disc error :/

Had one more bash later on this time against Very Hard AI and qualified 6th with a 2:28.941 (pole was a 2:226.347!!). Had such a good race battling with these AI, losing several places on the opening lap before fighting back to 5th but couldn't make any further inroads and that’s where I finished, 12 seconds adrift of the winner and 1.5 seconds ahead of 6th place with the rest spread back between 3 and 29 seconds further behind. My fastest lap 2:28.917 with the race fastest lap 2:27.796. I love the AI at times in this game, offline they are such a good challenge and keep the game alive for me.
This car is tough untuned though.... it's going to be a long race against you guys with tune I fear.

2:27... this must mean we are racing the full circuit this time, right?
Will try to get some running here but not sure if I'll make the race or not. May be having the side door changed this Saturday, and if it's anything like last Sunday i might not make the start.

Yes thats right Karl, I hope you make it but advise you to get some laps under your belt as it's a tough car on this circuit with the default tune. The first sector with those esses are the toughest part due to the quick changes of direction needed in that section. The default tune is so spongy and doesn’t lend itself well to circuits with sections like that. I struggled initially to get below the 2:30's but going against my usual style and being more aggressive through the turns helped get the times down into the 2:28's but of course the compromise is the greater risk of losing the back end which I had happen several times as I tried to get used to it. The acceleration with the default gears is not great either so more speed through the corners is needed to try to compensate which again leads to more chance of the car getting away from you on the exit.

I'll probably buy the car for this race so I can repair it after race one and make sure I don’t have the same problems as the last race towards the end but am not going to be able to get it levelled up again.

hmmm.. I guess i better try to get some track time tonight then. Not sure if i can do any on Friday. And Saturday may be a bust until race time. Thanx for the heads-up Peter.

if you can unlock the basic tune on the suspension I would go Full stiff on the fronts and leave the rear default. The car drives like a "Lorry" in the esses if you don't stiffen it up. I think sector 1 is my best sector of the track. My problem is my entry and exit into the hairpin corners. I seem to be locking up or just overshooting and then can't find traction on the exit. My best time so far has been a 2.26.265. I'm still going to need some warm up laps before the race. It's like you have to retrain yourself each time before you drive the car. Because there isn't really another car that handles like this one.

I agree that the suspension would make a big difference here Michael. The esses really need that stiffness to provide the quick changes of direction and that's where I'm struggling with the default tune.

I can get into the 28's but anything better than that I don't think I'll manage on default but I'm not in anyway going to get any levelling up done so I'll have to live with it.

Thanks for the couple of short races tonight, sorry for no chat the mic was being used elsewhere. AI got you in race one and me in race two lol.

I actually wouldn't mind the AI in the race though as I think it's going to be a lonely one without them if you tuned up guys are in the 26's and 27's.

Yeah the AI drove all over me as you slowed for turn 9. I was just keeping with my recent trend of getting knocked around to the back and having to fight my way back through. I'm actually faster when I'm chasing then leading  I won't be running 26's and 27's all the time, and the way this car snaps loose you may have some company back there :p

Lap time is surely key, but stock car races are more about consistency and smoothness. And Peter, you have that in spades. I don't feel sorry for you. lol. Your pace is about one second off my quickest, but I'm normally where you are with a fully tuned car. Honestly, I don't think you need quarters here either. I think 100% either way would work just fine. It's more about knowing how the car reacts to the track and getting those blind pointy apexes (I have trouble there too Michael) both marked for braking and turn in. Some corners you can cut the **** out of and some will absolutely kill your lap...maybe your race.

Michael, the pace lap is not popular, to be sure, but neither is wrecking on the first turn. I wish I could say were never did that, but sadly it's just a fact of life. And with no pits, if we didn't do it, then I think we would see people like Petr, was very fast in Turkey, get relegated to the back through no fault of his own. However, as I have set it up now, it's not working, so I think you and Mike have good suggestions, and Railer said the same thing. 100 or so until the final few turns, then down to 60.. When the leader crosses the start finish line, he must yell "green" (or the guy behind him if it's boothy). This will get us around faster and allow slower cars to get caught up and also prevent people from drafting at the start. Michael, the second race is more logical, I agree. Both wouldn't hurt, but "sprint" implies just go for it...true.

Definitely agree that smoothness and consistency play a big part but with the gaps as apparent as they are here guys can make mistakes, spin out and still be stay ahead or catch up lol

My 2:28's are done close to the edge and the way I have to drive is very alien to my usual style so mistakes are far more likely and the smoothness and consistency suffers as a result.. double whammy. But it is what it is and hopefully the next round brings a more even field.

Are we re-introducing AI for this one?

I think we will get six players. If so, no A.I. I found them to be pretty good here. Fair and fast.

had 15 mins in practice last night and managed a 2:27.5 but it was like driving a boat. 2:30s will prob be my average lap times for these races. The AI are troublesome to race against without a tuned car (which i will be driving). as Peter said before, keeping the speed up in the corners is key to fast lap times with the default setting and the AI are great at getting in the way in the corners, especially in sector 1.

Good job on getting into the 27's Karl, I haven't managed that at all in the default setup. I agree that 30's are likely the order of the day especially as we'll likely not have the luxury of running in a draft with those at the front. That can make a difference here with the long straights.

Going to try to get some time in later to see if I can find a few areas of improvement and maybe get another second from somewhere.

Myself and October had a good run last night. I got Robert's time down to the 27's after some work learning the track. He shaved 4 secs. off so good job Robert.
Myself I had a few runs and so far I agree with Watts, you need to stiffen the suspension quite a bit for sector 1.
Had a best time of 2:25.032 but if you cut too many corners man those dang time penalties.
25's are very impressive Railer

I'm happy to see the penalties for corner cuts, had to be something to prevent any advantage being gained and thankfully on this full circuit I haven't seen any of the ones we saw in the shortened version we raced in the last series.
