Thanks for the racing last night Robert. I managed to go the whole night last night without a Freeze. I hope we can get the League Race on at Istanbul, minus the AI, but it was still fun starting from the back and slicing though the field. That is a fun car to drive. I got my Caterham leveled up to almost lvl 40.

I think my best time last night was a 1:51.0XX so I still have some work to do. But the car feels pretty stable. There are a couple of corners I really want to work on, and I'll be on more this week if anyone wants to get some laps in. I'd really like to run some laps with Railer.

Thank you Michael. It sure was a blast. The GP3 car is a pleasure to drive for sure. Once the A.I. were spread out a bit, they seemed to be easier to deal with on a rational basis. I still think they are some of the best A.I. I have ever seen, except for the power ratio that is heavily in their favor. But it's very good practice getting around them because they are super competitive, which is good. I froze that last time and had to call it quits. Fortunately I have not had it happen in a race. Seems like everywhere but, though.

This is such a fantastic track  if only it was available as a dlc for F1 :inlove:

Had my first run out here today and in a twenty minute practice, qualifying and five lap race... Great fun. Was able to run lap after lap in the low 1:50's with one three lap spell in practice getting 1:50.07, 1:50.01 and then 1:50 flat but couldn't quite make it into the 1:49's.

Qualified 2nd and had a fun 5 laps, finishing with laps of 1:49.5, 1:49.3 and 1:48.9.

Can't believe they left this track out of the Time Trial mode:confused:

I might get on here for some laps tonight, but i doubt i'll have a tunable car for the race on Saturday. I do miss this circuit, but i doubt i'll be competitive

Join the club Karl, I'm going to have to be running a loaner too as I am not going to be able to get a car levelled up. Ran that race above with the default setup just to see what was possible so it's not too bad but definitely not as good as with a setup. I would definitely stiffen the car up, reduce downforce and lengthen the gears as it didn't have the straight line speed and was too spongy in the corners.

Phew, no A.I. now. Thanks for the help last night Railer in learning the layout of the track. Seems like me and Wattsie may be the ones who have to do this. I'm going to see if it's available in TT and just run it over and over. Unlimited flashbacks there are a good way to hone particular corners not that you gave me the big picture. Sounds like we all may have similar tunes, however this car runs just as well with the base tune, it seems.
Unfortunately it's not the TT mode Robert, just a shortened version of it is in there. Crazy move to only have certain tracks available :/

Thanks for the quick session this morning Robert, good to test things out online as we all know how the difference can catch you out. Looks as though the online \ offline times are around about a second apart based on those two races this morning with the online being the slower of the two. Mind you I was in a stonking battle in the second race with one AI where we were swapping places for the final 3 laps so that did effect the overall times. Last lap was a 1:50.3 or so. Fantastic battle though, one of the best I’ve had and wish I had recorded it. Really felt like a battle with a human driver :).

It’s very apparent here though that the AI are slower online than offline. In both races both Robert and I pulled away from all the AI at the start and were a good few seconds ahead before the end of the first sector. One of them did close down though hence the battle for the last three laps. Very different to offline where you will see from my earlier video they are much more competitive and all of them stayed really close and I was unable to find a way past the leader.

The default setup is not too bad but lacks the grunt on the long straight as you max out very early on and need a toe to get close to anyone ahead. Also, a bit imprecise into the corners due to the too soft springs which makes it more difficult to be as accurate as with a stiffer setup. Looking forward to this one though as the track is just spot on for racing

Yes, my thoughts exactly Peter. Thanks for running some laps and allowing me to get more familiar with the track. The A.I. were definitely acting strange. I've never seen such a disparity, quite frankly. I'm running 1:56 if I'm lucky and even I was pulling away, and had a couple of spins to boot! Still finished 7th or so. Very Odd. Seems to me a glitch or something.

Very nice track...enjoyed it much, but was a challenge with so many blind corners to learn. Cocpit view is wide open though, so it feels better.

Definitely something going on with the AI this morning. Looking at the results screen at the end there were a whole bunch of AI behind you finishing with quickest laps of 2:07 . But it's only online they exhibit that behaviour.

Definitely one of those where you need to know the corners and where you can push and where you can't. It can catch you out very suddenly in a few of those fast turns.
