@ouvert Thank you for that explanation. I will certainly try vjoy if fer312t's method proves futile! Does vjoy introduce any input lag?

@fer312t Thank you as well! I will give your method a try this evening, and I hope it does the trick.

Does this method accomplish something that simply deleting the local content files and reinstalling does not? I only ask, because reinstallation didn't work the last time I tried.

By the way, thanks guys for doing Codies support's job for them. Responding to my initial email, wherein I painstakingly detailed the problem, my attempted solutions, and listed my hardware (in accordance with a developer post explaining how to receive competent support), they simply included a link to the compatible wheels list.

Long story short, that their final reply included actual prose was somewhat shocking. That it was utterly unhelpful, of course, was not.

Thanks again, both of you. I'll report back with the (hopefully positive) results.

Autosport Superspeedway Oval
November 15, 2014

Autosport Superspeedway Oval (2.5 miles tri-oval)
Race #1: Random order mixed with no A.I. (20 laps)
Race #2: Finishing order from Race #1, no A.I. (20 laps)

Race #3: Finishing order from Race #2, no A.I. (20 laps)
As you know, A.I. can be dangerous, and on a super-speedway, it is virtually impossible to compete while they are present. Be sure to pick your car well and stay out of trouble.
Lobby to open at 3:45pm U.S. Eastern and informal practice sessions may take place before, however, the race will start on time. Late drivers may join after qualifying or any race is complete. Your host will be: Robert Waddell / OctoberDusk06. Please sign up with your name and gamertag and be sure to friend request October if you are racing. Good luck!

Points System

Points: 1-25; 2-18; 3-15; 4-12; 5-10; 6-8; 7-6; 8-4; 9-2; 10-1
(Each Race scores points)

Race Format
Oval Races:
Only loaner cars are eligible because of the performance variances between the conditioning. You will be allowed three (2) flashbacks during each race. Flashbacks set you back about 5 seconds before the "incident" took place that you wish to redo. You should be ghosted during this process. You may use them at any time, but best to treat them if you get severely damaged or killed. Races will start from a standing start

Each race is of equal distance an will take about 15 minutes to complete, depending on various factors.

NOTE:
- The game will not allow pit stops
- Flashbacks WILL be allowed at oval races (2 each race) but not at other races.
- Damage will be “full”
- Collisions will be “on”
- Tuning will be "off" for oval races and loaner cars must be used.
- No A.I. for ovals. A.I. to fill out the grid on non-ovals if less than six drivers show.

Be careful because the game does not allow pit stops, so repeated damage (indicated by icons on the right lower HUD and progressive in increments of yellow then red) due to a well developed damage model could seriously compromise your race.

Flashbacks: 2
Tuning: Not Allowed (must use loaner)
Upgrades: Disallowed
View: Any
Gears: Manual or Automatic
Assists: Disallowed

LOANER CARS -- Eligible for this race:
Tuner Class; Modified
Ford Mustang Boss 302 Modified
Chevrolet Camaro SS Modified
Honda S2000 Modified

@Peter Hooper definitely the Ford. I'm running that car for the very exact reason you mention. The Honda is more stable but it's a few mph slower down the straight so it gets eaten up by the Ford and Chevy. Drafting does not really buy you much time but it does allow you to pass other cars or get to the leaders if you know how to trade slingshots with a partner.

After this my opinion of nascar drivers have gone up. It can't be easy turning left for that long 20 laps and i was half asleep by lap 7
Race 1 - 5th
Race 2 - 2nd ( I turned left and went straight) also fear may have hit Chris & Peter but couldn't see them
Race 3 - DNF was so far behind after my spin

That's funny. I think we tapped each other at one point, but I just used a flashback. You drove well considering you don't do the oval thing much. All of that leveling up helped! lol.
Actually, drafting in NASCAR or any major oval series, is much much more complex than this game presents. I don't think people realize that in certain circles. They used to say that Dale Earnhardt could "see air" on the superspeedways.

I don't do ovals unless i have to essentially. It's pretty much if you can't draft someone your going to come last hence why i DNF'd the 3rd would of taken 90+ laps to catch up again without a draft. Lack of tuning killed people here could get to 276 with out a tow and about 285 with one the problem was you move out to overtake and the speed sinks like a stone.

I know after those races trying to control a grumpy steering wheel my hands were killing me. You wouldn't think it but I believe I used more energy on these ovals than I do on proper race courses.
Had fun during all the races but as Boothy said when you pull out to pass you lose all the draft. It was pretty much wait for someone in front of you to make a mistake so you could capitalise on it.

Exactly. Welcome to restrictor plate racing. (See Daytona). I'm not sure I can agree with you about taking that long to catch people, as you caught me in about 10 laps w/o a tow while I was driving 54's. And once you caught me, you did a slingshot by me. You could do that very easily if you timed it right. You needed to be on the long stretch and be about 2-3 car lengths behind the car exiting the turn, then let the tow take you up to 7+ mph and you will pass, especially if you take the inside and call it. So, it's more than just the draft on ovals, although that's not accentuated here due to the good, but not great, physics.

I kept asking for a three car team, but nobody wanted to slow down. What prevents a two car draft from working well (in this game) is that the car behind is constantly having to slow down, but if you have a car in the middle, he would not have to slow, and therefore the guy in back of him would not have to slow, even if they had to all touch bumpers, which is essentially how they do it in NASCAR. I think it's more nerve racking to run like this than any other form of racing I can think of besides IndyCars on a similar track. But even then, at least they are stable:
