Yeah I'm kind of a lead foot, hence why I like the heavier more equal power-to-weight ratio cars. I've gotten better with my throttle modulation in this game, but I still struggle with the open wheel cars in this game due to lack of rear grip.

Yes, it is so. I've to do it everytime I start the program. I've not found another resolution. This happens only with the Codemaster titles Dirt 3, Grid 2 and Grid Autosport.

The VSYNC-method is the shortest way to do it.

You have to do it also every time, you switched between windowed and fullscreen.

I know, that's bad :(( But Codemasters do nothing against it.

Before you do anything, I'd go read the reviews on this game, F1 2014. They are pretty far and away the worst of any F1 title, as a compilation. Also, next gen gamers and PC gamers have simply ignored it. They know a "plant" when they see it. I've driven hundreds of cars that require a delicate throttle, but these things in F1 2014 are beyond absurd. They probably can be wrestled under control by an experienced gamer who really wants to love F1. That's not me, though.

Also take a look at the Codeis forums themselves. Penty of bashing there. And people like Matt York
have abandoned F1 by CM because of this title, and other things, when their very You Tube site was built around F1. Pretty shocking, if you ask me, but understandable. I personally think that Codemasters does just enough to get by every year, except maybe for 2013, and thus their games do not evolve. Also, there is plenty of negative bashing on other sites regarding the issues I discussed.

Bottom line -- I'd rent it. Don't want to be stuck with a useless $50 piece of plastic like I am.
I did actually have a read of some of the reviews (sleepless night so was bored lol) and the racing side pf the game itself is not actually criticised that much but the main gripe seems to be the lack of 'extra' content. Most reviews I read liked the new handling for instance. Quite a few of them mentioned the lack of classics which would have been nice to see included again but in all honesty it was not a well received addition last year and was not widely played. Yes of course we loved it but that was not the norm. The presentation being pretty much the same as last years (just a bit cleaner and no navigation bugs) comes in for criticism but thats a minor issue really. I guess from a gamer perspective which is how they review it they expect to have extra features each year although I am not sure what extra can be added in all honesty. Same as with anmy yearly released title.

I have been reading the CM's F1 forums over the past few weeks waiting for the avalanche of criticism we usually see there but in all honesty it is actually the most positive for any of the F1 releases to date. Yes of course there is the usual call for a patch but mainly to fix the pad issue and also the AI in wet races but in general there are more happy people than we usually see a few weeks after release. For the CM forums that is very unusual.. just look at what happened on Autosports release, whch to be fair was laced with a fair few bugs to start with.

Similar with the other forums I have visited. Criticism seems to be levelled at the same things (too frequent wet weather, AI traction in wet, tyre allocation, no manual overide of ERS, AI too fast, etc) but the throttle issue is not one of them that crops up much at all, other than pad users wanting to have the same as wheel users in that regard. Once again there are plenty of positives coming through which actually surprised me because it's generally the case that forums are mainly filled with comments of those that are having problems or finding bugs.

I do understand your frustration at the throttle problem you are having although I am sure you would be able to overcome it with more time in the game but accept that it is not something you want to do. It's horses for courses after all and we'll just have to agree to disagree on this one

Well, yea, we will have to disagree on this one Peter.
"F1 2014 feels like something that needs to exist while Codemasters works on rebuilding the foundations for next-gen. There’s much less here than in previous entries, so it’s hard to justify picking it up to anyone outside of hardcore F1 fans. F1 2013 now feels like the pinnacle of the series on 360 and PS3, and for those looking for the evolution of F1 games, you’re going to have to wait and see what the developer has up its sleeve in 2015." (didn't mention handling but said sound was spot on!)
http://www.videogamer.com/reviews/f1_2014_review.html

"If nothing else, Codemasters’ F1 games do a fantastic job at showcasing the actual appeal of F1 as a sport, and F1 2014, being a traditionally iterative sequel, continues this laser-sharp focus. It’s telling when the main draw of a title is to experience the rule changes within the real life sport, as opposed to any sort of standout mode or gameplay feature.
This could be largely because Codemasters are busy preparing their true next-gen F1 game behind the scenes, and this is more of a stop gap. We’ve known for a while that F1 2015 will be the first outing for the super cars on Xbox One and Playstation 4, and that F1 2014 is the last hurrah on older tech." (from MetaGamer)

To be fair, some have said the handling model is designed to be difficult and thy like that, and one reviewer said only those with the highest end equipment and on a PC will enjoy the handling. I can see this point, as I think I could come close to being able to believe an F1 car handled like this if I was playing on my Thrustmaster. The reviewer said console buyers should not bother because of the handling.

I'm going to try and increase the resistance on my throttle pedal Peter, and maybe this will help. I'm not throwing in the towel just yet.

I have been slammed with work and other things recently, but if you let me know when you are on-- for instance after work for you today is good for me and tomorrow too -- I can get up with you. The Forza series ended, so I have not been on the One as much, but will be kicking off a new one soon hopefully.

Were clearly reading different reviews lol

Anyway let's leave it there, no reason we have to agree on everything and I'm sure we could go on in circles with counter arguments ;)

The Forza series ended already Robert? How many races were run in it? I'll try to check out that website to see what you've been getting up to ;)

Agreed mate.

Forza runs in six race series' so people don't get bored because there are so many car choices and tuning and tinkering with the cars is the greatest joy. After all, each car drives differently on each track and even if I was stuck with something I hated (like a car from F1 2014...lol), then I could count on a short series. With the handling the way it is, it's like getting a new game every time you run a different car, even on the same track.

Sounds interesting, I'll pm you about it as Forza still confuses the hell out of me with the tuning :/

GRID Autosport Race of Champions (GRIDARC)
_________________________
Series Directors: Robert Waddell & Peter Hooper
Stewards: Railer Cantrell (Chief), Matthew Booth

Overview
This series will test drivers' skill in many different cars, including open wheel, track day, GT, and prototype. Not just will we test the skill of driving these cars, but also driving these cars on both ovals and road courses and street courses...the whole lot. In effect, this series is meant to crown the most gifted, diverse, dedicated, and all-around racer that participates. Each driver may have a particular type of car he likes better, or track that he prefers, but this series will mix them all up to determine who is the most well rounded driver.

This will be a “no assists” league with the exception that you are able to choose your own view (e.g. cockpit, bonnet, chase, etc.) and allow automatic gears for those who use a pad or paddle shifter. Off limits will be: traction control, ABS, stability control, steering assist, cornering assist, and racing line.

Maximum per lobby is 12 players. If more than 16 are signed up full time, we will create two lobbies. The lobbies will consist of random members for the first race and then, if more than one lobby is necessary, the first lobby shall consist of the top 12 players from the previous race(s), and so on, until season end. Points will be allocated as if there were no separate lobbies and based on time of race for each competitor.

Drivers will be required to join a Race Net Club ("Race Departmnt X") ("RDX") in order to track car progression and driver stats. We may also challenge race other clubs to races from time to time to really test our skill.

Winner's Prize
An unopened copy of Battlefield 4 for the Xbox One.

Car Acquisition
In this series our aim is to choose cars that are ready to race as loaner cars, right out of the block. This means that tuning is much less of a difference maker, although you can still buy and bring your tuned car to any race, except the oval races, which will all be conducted with loaner vehicles. You cannot bring your own car to an ova race. Penalty will be disqualification based on lap time. NOTE: You can use any online cash you have to purchase your new car, and even buy "used" cars from friends or the public. Even if you do not have a “new” car purchased before the start of a race, you can still race with a “loaner” car in any race.

NOTE
: On-line cars in higher Tiers are expensive and it is anticipated that many will not be able to afford to buy them, but instead play with a "loaner" car. Loaner cars are not able to be tuned in on-line races (which does not make a huge difference in this game, except in open wheel). Bear this in mind when practicing with them. Also note that you CAN tune a loaner car in singleplayer (offline) Custom Cup, which will save you from having to use your own car but also get the benefit of seeing how it will react with tuning. Tuning will be turned off in the oval races, however owned cars have a significant advantage because they are conditioned up to 100% and therefore critically faster on ovals, thus prohibited. NO UPGRADES AT ANY RACE.

Practice can be accomplished primarily via Custom Cup offline with loaner cars. But the key to earning extra cash is to race on-line, since races in SP do not transfer money to MP. This is the key to earning extra cash to buy new cars and the key to leveling up cars you already own. Try to practice online as much as possible. Setups are not that complicated and loaner cars will not perform much differently from an owned car, since we will only have one opportunity to minimally upgrade any owned car and owned cars retain wear and tear mileage. (See thread about how to make lots of money easily)

Ways To Get On-Line Cash To Purchase Cars (Other Than Joining Public Lobbies):
RaceNet Challenge
Fans of GRID 2 may remember Global Challenge mode, which provided a fresh set of events to compete in every week. Posting the best time or score to a leader-board among your friends allowed you to dominate track locations around the world, and earn big rewards.

There are six challenges to compete in every week; one from each Discipline, plus one “wildcard” challenge which may use an unusual track and vehicle combination to really test your skills.

The challenges can use any of the Race Types available to a particular Discipline. The Endurance challenge, for example, might test your ability to drive a far as you can in a given time limit, while battling through a pack of AI. A Tuner challenge on the other hand, might give you one drift run to score as many points as you can. Setting the quickest times, furthest distances or highest scores will always be the key to ranking highly in the leaderboards. You can attempt the challenges as many times as you like during the week.

For each challenge you attempt, your ranking determines the size of your payout at the end of the week, and you’ll still get bonuses for putting your friends to shame as well. The best drivers in GRID Autosport will find RaceNet Challenge very worthwhile – the top 1% of leader-board rankings can be very lucrative indeed. There are also “benchmark medals” up for grabs which provide a target time or score to aim for, and extra rewards if you exceed them.

Online Playlist
Playlists are another familiar feature of the GRID series, allowing players to jump into the action and get racing quickly with the minimum of setup. Sticking with the Disciplines theme, there are six Playlists to choose from – one for each Discipline, and an “Everything” Playlist that will shuffle all of the content in the game. You’ll also be able to use a new voting system for the next track after each race.

Playlists use a standard set of rules – collisions and damage are always on with a limited number of Flashbacks, but there are no restrictions on assists or vehicle improvements. As with Custom Cups, if you own any vehicles from the class currently in use, you can choose to use them and make the most of any upgrades and tuning you’ve unlocked – in addition to showing off your custom liveries!

Public Lobbies
These, though frustrating, are searchable within each category, so you can pick one where damage is turned off, for example. So the fastest gets the more money.

NOTE:

You may not upgrade your car's performance through parts upgrades (engine, flywheel, brakes, etc.) in any way. These upgrades only come at very high levels and many of us who do not play on line as a hobby would be too disadvantaged by performance upgrades. Any upgrades you make to your car (you may paint it of course) must be confined to tuning only.

Also, by joining our Race Net club ("Race Departmnt X") we will be able to see every car of every driver in the club, including it's history, statistical performance charts, and upgrade status and history. This will allow all of us to verify that nobody has upgraded too heavily. Also, it will give us access to a great deal of statistical information about each others' on-line performance and allow us to compete (as a club) against other clubs if we wish.

Game Play
Since this is a Race of Champions, there will be no qualifying. The first Race will be a sprint race that takes approximately 15-20 minutes to complete. The second race will line up IN THE ORDER OF FINISH from the first race, so good performance in the sprint race is rewarded. Also there will be one point awarded for the fastest lap time in the second race. The sprint race will NOT be a standing start, but each car, upon the game giving the green, will drive around the track, in the order it was placed on the grid, in single file until the leader reaches the start/finish line, which is when the leader and all other cars may accelerate. The leader must announce "green, green" when he crosses the start/finish line to start the sprint race. Failure to do so will result in a 10 second penalty. There is no passing during the pace lap and pace speed is 60 mph. The second race will be approximately 30-40 minutes and be from a standing start, green flag starts the race, with no pace lap.

NOTE:
- The game will not allow pit stops
- Flashbacks WILL be allowed at oval races (2) but not at other races.
- Damage will be “full”
- Collisions will be “on”
- Tuning will be "off" for oval races and loaner cars should be used.
