Australia & New Zealand

I think your doing a great job.

I don't have time to commit to one off event due to other commitments but can commit to a league, I can understand that its pointless starting a league with only 7 or 8 regulars. Unfortunately i cant help organize things as Cam will know.

I guess to help you in direction it might be an idea if ppl put the classes there interested in.
I'm mostly interested in the Evo cars like GT Pro, Sport and F3000 but dont mind any of the classes.

Personally i only found the AU part of RD recently and i know that quite a few others didn't know about it till recently.

well im here ,or a least i think i am ,my biggest issue is the time slot as i have to start early monday mornings ,but by the same token i know that you carnt always accomodate everyone ,but for me saturday night or about 2 hours earlier would suit .Leadership is fine.
regards

Just to add to the previous ping issue, since we have been using Eric's server, that is no longer an issue. For the Australian, New Zealand, and USA Groups, the quality of the server has been very good. So, I don't believe that should be a concern for Oceania guys anymore. If anything, it may affect the Euro guys more, but they keep supporting our Oceania events, in fact more than the Oceania guys.
I believe it is approaching crunch time guys. If we want an Oceania Commujnity here, then it needs support from Oceania people. That means more people racing regularly and someone else stepping up to help organise these events. Cam has done a great job as the lone hand, but I totally get his frustration at the variable nature of the support here.

If it is only supported by a small number of regulars (right now that's about half a dozen), then it's future is on "life support".

If there are other things that need improvement or changing, then now is the time to speak.

Reason I havnt been seen is because the league I manage and race in. Have now switched to Race 07/GTREvo. In 2008 we were still running GTR2 (I hated it) but still managed it.....LOL. We are now running both a WTCC league and a GTPro league. There are a few guys that turned up to the odd RD event on Sunday Nights but not many.

I would like to still turn up to the odd Sunday night race, but every time I have looked its been V8 race, its a very good mod, but I prefer WTCC over every thing else in Race 07'

Each week: I've been doing ~ 60+ hours on mod conversions and "Modding teaching" and working my normal 50+ a week and the wife still talks to me, and still can get to RD Sundays :) :)

First of all I'd like to say that I am concerned at the lack of signups for the recent events. A solution might be to move the race date to another day. Maybe saturday or Friday...? It could attract more members who don't make it to Sunday races because of work/school. Right now, that's all the opinion I've got to offer. Maybe after some sleep I can offer something else.

Dont let it go! I really enjoy racing with you guys! A few thoughts:

Currently the race are at 10:00 local time (Germay) and at 09:00 for the British. Reading the forums here, this might be a little bit early for some EU folks, even I am sometimes struggeling with that one. But if you ask me, dont change it. Your and ours switch to and from day light saving is close, which will make the race time a little bit more convenient for us. If you would do the same on Friday, no EU folks will join (school / work), on Saturday less, you would barely see me there.

What I like here is, that mixture of events. Though after a couple of race with the V8s, I thought it was time for a change, but I also can understand that you liked them. Afterwards you had a none dry event, I am not really a big fan of it and was anyway exhausted, so I prefered to switch off my alarm clock.

Nevertheless, today we have been 10 people, but still a good race I think!

So, looking forward to future race with you!

Thought of an option possibly, now I am in the same boat as Tyson he manages a Race 07' League over at MotorHeadz and he also runs with us on Tuesday Nights at Austeam Racing and turns up here for Sunday nights as well I believe.

Now not sure about MotorHeadz but I beieve their numbers are quite decent and I am sure there would be some members there similar to Austeam that only want to race in Race 07' GTREvo. Now I am sure none of us want to poach members from each other’s club but an idea I had might be a sort of work together idea much like the Club V Club event.

To give you an idea of our league we are running both a WTCC league and a GTPro league on Tuesday nights, 1 week it’s WTCC and the next GTPro about 8 weeks in both series. We have about 38 - 39 drivers signed up in both series and only 25 gird spots and we Pre-Qualify for the event from Friday - Sunday you have 5 laps 3 hot laps. I just closed the Pre-Qual sever and updated the times, and 4 drivers are on the reserve list and that’s pretty much the norm, so that’s 4 Aussie Race 07' owners keen to race that missed out, so I am thinking if they had a chance to race somewhere else that week pretty good chance they might take up the offer, plus there might be some of the others that made the race interested as well. Maybe some from MotorHeadz as well. But would be a good idea if not on the same league night as either MotorHeadz or Austeam.

So that was a thought I had but I am looking at 4 members of Austeam that won’t get to race online this week in our league, and their times weren’t too bad for Pau there were also another 3 drivers who just couldn’t make the Tuesday night so a possible 7 that might be able to race another night. Our guys are fairly league orientated though and like to see well organised points tables etc and I guess I am the same. I would strongly suggest the use of an SLS point’s table system (free download) or GPOS that RD already uses.

Well my 2cents :)

ATM our numbers are around the same as RD, we have heaps of member but we still have small room numbers. I have made it so that MotorHeadz has different race nights to to RD and ATR. I have also mentioned RD sunday nights to a few of our members and i have seen a few in the room. But like ATR a lot of our drivers are looking for leagues before the commit to showing up week in week out. I will let my drivers know that if they want to race on a Sunday then to head over this way as i have no intention of running events on that day at MHdz( we all need a day or 2 off). ATR is proof that Race07 has great potential in AU with more drivers then spots but it has taken a wile and some small rooms before the whole club supported a simbin title.
Also i think aussies seem reluctant to get any simbin title, MHdz has managed to get 6 or 7 rF drivers to get Evo and are slowly trying to get some more but most seem reluctant.

I am going to be posting some OECC info at a few forums and trying to promote all three clubs so hopefully we will see some new driving members.

I race in another League on alternate Sundays, so can only make every 2nd Race. Missed out weekend before last, cos of "getting booted because of possible Cheat" problem , now fixed. Must admit the lag was putting me off, but raced in the USAU server Sat morning and that seemed OK. Is that the same server we use for the AU events?
Dont have a problem with the way its run at all Cam, love GTR Evo, and if Simbin could get their on-line code up to rFactors standard thats all I'd run I reckon.

Yes Grant, it's the new server we have been using for AU events for a few weeks now. It's Eric's server, based in West Coast USA and it has solved all of our old ping / lag problems. Big thanks to Eric, it was a life saver for the RD Oceania group, and is also used for US Group events too.

Sorry to chime in this, but if you guys want rFactor events as well just speak up. I am just setting it up on the US server. It should be operational this week:)

Hmm, sorry to hear that the Oceania races have been getting a bit of a ghost town feel about them. I managed to make most of the season 3 races through the latter part of last year, and the attendance was pretty solid, more than enough cars that there'd generally be at least one or two other drivers very near my pace to keep me company.

Unfortunately this year has been crazy so far for me with all kinds of distractions, and so I've barely been able to show up for an event ... and to make matters worse, the two I have shown up for I wasn't able to complete (CTD while setting my superpole in the V8s @ Anderstorp, lost connection in the GTPs @ Magny Cours). Hopefully I'll be more available from now on though...

I noticed that a couple of people have said they'd be more likely to show up consistently for a league. I think I would be too, as unfortunately I don't have any alien skills to call upon and so I need a few laps under my belt to learn a track/car combo (some cars more than others :p). At present each car/track combo is announced 2-4 days before we race, which gives me less time to get myself sorted, especially since Friday and Saturday are almost always busy for me.

In contrast, I'm always prepared and present for the ICONZ GTR2 league as I'm able to plan for it and make sure I get at least some token prep in early in case I can't get back on in the days before the race. The league aspects also greatly help the community side of things - with nothing but stand-alone spot races happening there's not much discussion beyond race reports, whereas with a league you're also talking about car selection and skinning, setups, standings etc and all of a sudden things are a lot more involved.

Anyway, just my thoughts. I've enjoyed racing with you all to date and have appreciated the help and advice I've received along the way from Warren and friends, so thanks for the time you've put in so far guys and I hope we'll be carrying on for a while longer yet :dance2:

Cam you are doing a great job and i think everyone respects your work and management.
The new server has great pings.
The time is good for me.

The limited notice recently (2/3 days) is a problem for me. I generally get on the site to look to sign up on about wednesday/thurs but the last number of races haven't been up and it isn't until 7pm Sunday i get on to have another look. Maybe put 2 week lead time on the sign-ups. This would increase those who are focusing on other communities but still seem to be dropping into the forum. Get the races & cars right and they won't be able to resist.

I'd prefer to see more races on standard Race07 tracks so i don't have to download a new track. There are a lot of cars we never drive so we can add variety with different cars. This might also entice those who are driving league races. A few radical, cats, Mini, FBMW, smaller GT cars. The standard tracks are also good because they come with a default setup for the Cole Trickle's of us:wink2:.

I've been waiting for the schedule for the new season - that could be a good idea. If you don't want to give the whole game away (maybe just list the tracks and not the cars ...)

After a few V8 supercar races, i'd happily do a whole season of these, but judging by the earlier comments, maybe the difficulty of these is not impressing some.

One final thought - if we wanted to get clever, we could create a season of races which replciate a mini race weekend. Drive 2 or 3 races but a couple of different series, V8 race followed by WTCC race followed by FBMW race in a single sitting and track the results.

I don't have much time but if you wanted someone to do non-time-critical stuff like keep a track of a race ladder (excel only:sinister:) i'd be happy to help. Can't replicate Wally's work though.

My suggestions:
2 week ahead sign-on
Schedule of races with just tracks listed

On the same note as Andrew, maybe we could emulate what Eric Kaczmarek has been doing lately in the US community. He has a thread set up in the forum that tracks the schedule for upcoming Sunday events (ie what cars, what tracks, etc are lined up for the coming weeks). I think if we did the same thing, it would make it a whole lot easier for Andrew and some others.

That's a good point - if we go for a slight change of direction that might liven things up but some help is needed to get/keep things going, I'm keen to pitch in wherever I can be useful. I don't know how many relevant tricks I know at this stage but I am a software developer by trade so I can probably nut it out with a bit of a prod in the right direction ;)
