Hey guys, sorry to have not been part of the discussion lately or to have managed to get onto the server at the same time as you guys either - had hoped to do both but life has been quite busy lately.
Have been putting some laps in when I've had some time, and was initially struggling with the Gumpert quite a lot around Monza, which shocked me as I'd had success with the tracks I'd previously run it on, including Imola , Spa and Crowne Plaza, all which I'd have thought would offer more setup challenges than Monza.
Luckily Warren came to the rescue with some setup suggestions, which helped a little, and a hot lap replay, which helped a lot. Thanks again Warren! Hope I'm not giving away any trade secrets, but I spotted from your replay that the Gumpert brakes a whole lot better if you use the gearbox a lot (ie change straight down from 6th to 3rd) and the brakes only a little (using predominantly brakes made the Gumpert an uncontrollable mess into Ascari and at the end of the start/finish straight). This has got my times down below the too-embarrassed-to-even-show-up threshold and into mediocre territory, but I'm concerned about whether the car will survive two hours of me brutalising the engine off the rev limiter three or four times a lap - I've not run an Evo car that long before, but I've run the GTR2 GTs in a number of races that lasted between 1.25-2.5 hours, and their engines definitely let go over that distance if not treated kindly...
Anyhow, that's where I'm at currently. Hoping to find some more pace over the next week but at this stage I'll be lapping at the rear hoping to take advantage of crashes/black flags for cutting/retirements. Gonna be a long night I expect, but I promise to have better pace at Spa as I've already got a Gumpert setup that works well for me there
