On the iOpener website there is a very interesting article about an upcoming World Rally Championship simulator:

World Rally Championship's next game: Racing live against rally heroes

The next generation WRC computer game will allow players to 'compete' in live rallies", states ISC chairman Neil Duncanson in the April version of SportBusiness International magazine. ISC, the global promoter of the World Rally Championship (WRC), mentions WRC's ultimate goal as building up an online gaming world championship alongside the real thing.
ISC and the computer gaming industry believe the next step in gaming is this 'live' competition between gamers and real drivers, made possible through iOpener's patented technology.
ISC CEO Simon Long says: "Now we are a global promoter, we want this to be multi-platform, multi-publisher, multi-territory."
For Long and Duncanson the new game is part of WRC's broader efforts to appeal new fans beyond the hardcore enthusiastics. FIA's chairman Max Mosley has said the virtual champion will be honoured at the WRC's annual end-of-season awards ceremony in Monaco.

Last April we already brought you the first news about iOpener Media's beta testers recruitment for their Real Time Racing project.

The news about this technology where virtual racers can compete against the real drivers on the track in real time is now spreading amoung the simracing communities.

iOpener is still looking for the worlds best simracers to join their beta test program that's about to start soon. If you are interested in joining then you can sign up on the RTR website

Same issue here. Crash on game launch. Have searched and searched for a resolution but nothing that works for me. Most suggestions involve changing sound to 2.1 from anything else. Obviously the game works for others but not on my machine. EVERY other sim and game I own works perfectly. WRC 2011 runs fine. WRC 3; not so fine. Can anyone help a brother out? Anyone else experience game crash on startup?

If you use Modmate's Graphic mod, try to run it as admin.

I don’t get crashes when using mod mates gfx mod, its just takes for ever to load the stages and then massive lose in fps the game lags like a beatch

spec :- Gigabyte GA-MA790XT-UD4p
AMD phenom II x 6 1090
8 gig ddr 3 ram (cant remember what brand)
Gainward NVIDIA 580 GTX 3072MB "Phantom" Graphics Card
2 x Samsung SSD 830 series 128 gig each

ill try this mod again in the week if i get time

Great game with tons of potential. The stages are narrow and difficult, so at it's core, there is a real challenge. With the addition of EC Sim physics/handling mods, I am confident this game will scratch my rallysim itch. If the modding community steps up, we may have the best rally game since RBR.

That's true. IMHO tarmac grip shouldn't be lowered. On wet or icy tarmac you lose lots of grip at higher speeds though. But on gravel I'm not so sure, the default game makes it too hard to go sideways except when you use the e-brake. I think there's still some potential :) . Not sure about snow surface - snow is so different depending on depth, temperature and so on. On a smooth, driven stage it can be quite similar to drive as gravel (on fitting tires of course)

I mostly agree with this, although from personal experience on a regular street in a regular low powered FWD car with regular street legal radials...snow has way less grip than gravel.

I think the mod has a good feel from the gravel and snow, but the tarmac is super drifty. I'd like more tarmac grip and keep everything else the same.

- Good point  . AWD naturally will allow all wheels to slip to a more similar amount. On FWD / RWD that's very hard to control so once you lose grip it's hard to find it again.

- Yep, maybe the front suspension could also be more stiff. I'm not sure if more grip all around will really feel that good.

Possibly not more grip on tarmac, but maybe more understeer. It feels too drifty currently, and you can always turn in. Seems like the rear is really easy to lose but the front will always go where you point it.
