On the iOpener website there is a very interesting article about an upcoming World Rally Championship simulator:

World Rally Championship's next game: Racing live against rally heroes

The next generation WRC computer game will allow players to 'compete' in live rallies", states ISC chairman Neil Duncanson in the April version of SportBusiness International magazine. ISC, the global promoter of the World Rally Championship (WRC), mentions WRC's ultimate goal as building up an online gaming world championship alongside the real thing.
ISC and the computer gaming industry believe the next step in gaming is this 'live' competition between gamers and real drivers, made possible through iOpener's patented technology.
ISC CEO Simon Long says: "Now we are a global promoter, we want this to be multi-platform, multi-publisher, multi-territory."
For Long and Duncanson the new game is part of WRC's broader efforts to appeal new fans beyond the hardcore enthusiastics. FIA's chairman Max Mosley has said the virtual champion will be honoured at the WRC's annual end-of-season awards ceremony in Monaco.

Last April we already brought you the first news about iOpener Media's beta testers recruitment for their Real Time Racing project.

The news about this technology where virtual racers can compete against the real drivers on the track in real time is now spreading amoung the simracing communities.

iOpener is still looking for the worlds best simracers to join their beta test program that's about to start soon. If you are interested in joining then you can sign up on the RTR website

Just tried it, really happy. Thanks. Now if we could just get the stpowatch to stop coming up during the stage? Managed to get rid of most of the UI

For the record i am using very close with the camera and it's just about perfect. Still has a great sense of speed aswell. This game is really starting to take shape, love it already.

Thanks for your kind feedback, Lee.

About the Split Time & Position displayed at each check point, I've tried to disable it but still can't find the way.
We can make Split Time invisible simply by making the Fonts transparent. But still I can't disable Up/Down animated arrows.
So, I also hope someone will find the way to disable it.

And if we can adjust the Seat Position & FOV manually like PC Sims, it would be the best. At this time, this Mod is one of the alternative ways, but I wish Milestone will make it possible in their future titles :)

Actually modern rallies are now only made up of on average 3-5 stages per day, run through twice... So there aren't actually that many stages in a rally.
Hm, I see...

http://www.racedepartment.com/2012/10/wrc-rally-italia-sardegna-preview/

Two runs over 1 stage on day one, two runs over 3 stages on day 2 and 3 and two runs over 1 stage day 4. So indeed not that many unique stages. Still, there are 8 unique stages in this real life example (WRC 3 really has one unique stage) and the length varies from 8 to 30 km (1x8 km, 4x15 km and 3x30 km). WRC 3 doesn't come close to that. The longest stage in WRC 3 is something like 6.# km, so not even as long as the shortest one in real life.

Somehow the AI is a lot better at taking hairpins... I noticed that on the easy rallies I can end up pretty high but on the more complicated ones, even though I seem to be driving flawlessly, I can't reach the top 10 at all... Does that AI cheat somehow? They also don't seem to make mistakes. I always make one mistake somewhere and considering the times and length of the stages that usually means I don't stand a change at all anymore... I usually end up at the back of the field (20th - 26th place). It seems the same AI-drivers alwys end up at the top of the scoreboard. Would be really nice if they would ruin a stage too every now and then.

And btw even when using flashbacks (to make up for late calls) I can't reach a high position on the more difficult rallies...

Not possible , it doesnt affect any loading times!

First, nice work modmate. ;)
But for sure, it affects the loading times dramatically and I get a big fps hit. I really don't understand it because I've a strong system (HD 6970, AMD X6 @ 3,8GHz and good RAM).
But maybe the game is more created for the combination Nvidia and Intel-Processors. During playing I get every time big fps drops at driving full rallyes (esp. Argentina, New Zealand or Greece). At the first two stages all is good (around 60 FPS) but after stage three it getting lower and lower to the last stage (60 -> 40). I'am disappointed about it.

Maybe VRAM is full, AntiVir conflict with WRC3.exe, AMD 12.9 Beta Driver is too slow ....
Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

I also have problems with fps, sometimes down a lot, my pc is intel i7 920, nvidia geforce 260 1 gb ram ddr 3 corsair dominator 2x3 gb, asus rampage extreme II, in spite of everything, it slows down at times ..
Sorry for my poor ingelese ...

Great mod! I didn't have any problems with the default cockpit view so I didn't think this mod would be something for me but I even ended up using the Very close version! Love it!

Hopefully these mods will be working with upcoming patches...!

Thanks for you comment, J van E.
Glad you like this Mod.
And I'll check and update this Mod if necessary when the patch is released :)

*loading time issues*

i dont think the loading time issues are a fault with the mod but more to do with the game, and heres my reason

i was playing WRC3 on a friends machine lastnight that had stupidly long loading times between clicking 'PLAY' and the game actually loading up, just a constant scrolling loading sign in the bottom left of the screen, NO mod is installed on his machine.
initially i thought it was the a change in resolution between desk top and game as they were set differently, however, the game would intermittantly load up slow on certain resolutions, bit more poking around found that the AA settings in Nvidia control panel were set to override/enhance application setting. switched it to application controlled and the game loads 1st time everytime. also, there was no FPS impact between AA off and forced 8xMSAA, so i dont think the AA is working properly unless your using the ingame FSAA,

now, heres the other mad thing, click 'play' if game hangs on loading screen start task manager, close task manager, click back on 'WRC3' in task bar and game loads fine.
so, the issue to me is an AA bug within the game that this mod and any other forcing of AA causes.

can also confirm that game/mod is fine in single stage but lags badly with slow loading times on full rally

also, game needs to be started as admin with mod installed.

I think we're pretty far off from having 30km tracks in games.

They eat up too many resources for them to be viable in a mass market setting IMO. And I feel like there's no way the current gen xbox/ps3 would be able to handle it. Plus the sheer development time of making a 30 km stage...It would be an immense amount of work. Hopefully we'll get to that someday, but now it looks like super long tracks are only going to happen as mods.

Yea you have to drive pretty much flat out + flawlessly to beat the AI times.

Hairpins took me a bit to get used to, but I think they're all about gearing and differential settings. You want to be able to keep revs up but not hit the limiter, you want to keep your wheels spinning, but not sliding out too much. Throttle pedal seems more important on hairpins than steering or anything else.

Well, TDU2 has, what, 1000-1500 km of road? Sure, it's a pretty basic road compared to a rally stage, but surely we can have 10% of that, and no other cars or environment.

Longest default stage in Richard Burns Rally is around 12 km I think (edit: 13.8km). There are longer custom made ones.

EDIT: here's a 33km stage
