Are you using the normal database? or the 50% database?
Sorry I'm an idiot I forgot I did a restore and that problem happened when a different AI mod was being used.
However I am now having a different problem. Using the 50% database, on raining monaco, about 20 laps in there were only 3 cars running. Everyone else had retired or been disqualified. Not sure how the hell this happened, I'm very surprised, mostly because there was also no safety car, I had no idea about it til I checked when I saw Bianchi in P3. Any idea as to why there was no safety car and how would I change the AI driver 'reliability' just for this track. Every other track has been fine, I mean Monaco is a very accident prone track but what happened is mental...
Thanks for the quick reply.

Hmmmm I'll have to test it. My only thoughts right now are that the AI's tyres are wearing out too quickly...which could be leading to tyre blowouts for the AI but I can't imagine that being the case.

Have you followed the installation instructions exactly? AKA deleting everything in your F12012 directory and letting steam re-download all the game files?
Also how many cars were DQ'd vs retired? I don't typically see race DQs much at all, so I'm concerned you may have some remnant files from other mods which are having an effect.

I'd say 6 were DSQ'd everyone else bar 2 and myself retired.
I can try doing a perfect re-install but how can I do it where I keep my save? Do I just back up the save folder? Or am I going to have to lose it?

Profile data is stored in a different location (Program Files\Steam\userdata)
You're only deleting files in your Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\F12012 folder which won't effect your save.

Assuming you've already been using my database, once you do the clean install and then install my mod, you'll be good to go.

To be safe, just make a backup of your userdata folder

Melphiz is right. Here's the easiest thing to do:
Verify files through Steam first (I always recommend this since this is a large mod which touches a lot of files)
Install the mod, but don't copy over the "cars" folder just yet (I'm 99% sure you can install the "tracks" folder without any issues).
Start the game, do the YDT, and get yourself setup (controls, difficulty, etc etc)
Save the game and exit out
Now copy the "cars" folder into your F12012 directory.

Like the overview page says, you can in fact complete the YDT with the entire mod installed, but it's just a little difficult to pass the hairpin test.
Thank you a lot for the fast and exaustive reply but I have another question. I just discovered the existance of the debug mod and I used it to skype the YDT. Will this mess with the cars performance in someway?

Who'd you talk to in the YDT on Skype? :p
Just kidding, installing the debugging mod won't have any effect on car performance. Debugging mod doesn't involve the CTF files (which control car performance)

Ok, so ive tested the mod for some 5 or 6 races now and i absolutely adore it. I modified the database-file to make the backmarkers+williams+gutierrez more slow, like the current F1 season. However, now i realize i want to modify the database even more, like removing the rain or keeping the same performance over the next seasons. Is it possible to edit these things without restarting the career?
When I made the previously mentioned changes, I had to reinstall the game+mods to get them to work. Is there a way to make changes to the database.bin without having to do that?

Well if you can figure out how to make the rain go away completely I'm all ears.
I've tried modifying the rain values in the dynamic_environment_settings table and in the weather_setting table. Haven't done much testing yet, but this does seem to work for quick races from what I can tell so far. Career mode however doesn't seem to be affected.
Keeping the same performance from season to season would mean modifying the upgrade paths for the teams as far as i know...
I've already made Williams and Gutierrez pretty slow, but to each their own...
At any rate, changing these settings won't kill your profile. What kills your profile is switching IDs in the DB. Changing weather or performance stats won't break anything.

Alright so I've done a perfect re-install from scratch bar the save file. Back onto raining Monaco, lap 21 with 11 retirements and one DSQ. Still pretty bad, the DSQ was Bottas and I lapped him and he had stopped in the middle of the road and seemed damaged, I guess he was DSQ'd for illegal blocking. Still, reliability and such is an issue for this, it's not really a race. I'll continue anyway and tell you how many are left by the end. Thanks.
EDIT: This is one the 50% database.

Yeah, there has been such a mod. I think it only makes sense at Bahrain to use it though. Dunno 'bout you guys, I really like rain races, they are more thrilling and the bad view makes it even more challenging.

Finished the race, only 5 people including myself finished, 50% database, 39 laps of monaco. 1 DSQ and 16 retirements, 2 safety cars.

This is because the AI is not pitting in for new wet tyres. I did a full wet race at Monaco last night and the AI never pitted. I've fixed this, and am making a few more minor adjustments and will have v1.3 uploaded today.

The issue arose because the values for inters and wets in the "tyres" table in the database were too high. I set them higher because you only get 4 sets of inters and wets for the weekend compared to 5 sets of slick tyres. But that didn't work out, so now the inters and wets have the same longevity values as the mediums and hards like they normally do.

This is because the AI never went into the pits. I tested this last night - quick race at Monaco, set to heavy rain, 50%, Legend difficulty. You can correct this by setting the values for inters and wets in the "tyres" table in the database to be the same values as the medium and hard compounds.

I did this and on lap 19 the AI pitted as suggested by the engineer.
So for now just adjust those tyre values.

I'll be pushing out v1.3 soon, just making some slight adjustments to driver performance & testing the 50% database a bit more. Everything works just dandy with the 100% database lol, this 50% DB has been a nightmare to get working right

Hm, like in programming, one bug fixed, another one appeared .D
But lowering the tyre_wear for inter/wet would be bad for a whole weekend under raining conditions, I already wonder how to manage the given 4 sets under game's default tyre_wear.

That's the exact issue I'm worried about too. If you do quick qualifying or OSQ it shouldn't make much of a difference, but if you do the full weekend (assuming its raining the whole weekend) I think the AI will run out of tyres during the race...

I'm assuming the AI will use at least 1 set of wet/inters for practice since they do roughly 20 laps or so, then another set for all 3 qualifying sessions, which leaves just 2 sets for the race. So on the tracks where the medium compound is not used, this probably wouldn't be a problem (like Monaco and possibly singapore for instance), but Canada, Australia, and any other tracks that use the medium compound I think it'll be an issue.

So what I'm trying to do now is make the 50% database have no rain. I think I have it setup right, just need to test it out when I get home from work today.
