No I agree ;) Malaysia AI is a bit slow.

Also the overall AI in Monaco is not slow but the AI always defends at Turn 12 which is pointless (nearly no chance to overtake). They lose a lot of time there and slow the cars behind down.

Yes I've noticed they defend there too at Monaco even with the default game files in place..silly indeed as you can get right around them on the outside when they defend the inside. I think that would boil down to a racing line coordinates issue.

Thanks for the feedback about Malaysia, I'll get working on that and Bahrain tonight

snthennumbers, I am back with some more feedback.

So, I have finished the first season of my career, playing in intermediate difficulty mode, 25% race distances, no assists (except for traction control), using v1.3 of your AI mod.

I noticed that in some circuits, like Montreal, Spa, Hockenheim, Korea, India, Abu Dhabi and Brazil I was lapping significantly faster in comparison to the CPU controlled cars.
Driving with Force India at the beginning and McLaren after the middle of the season, it was pretty easy to achieve many pole positions.

I would like to ask you if your v1.5 adjustments have changed that for this difficulty level (I am now at Lotus, for my second season) or I should try using the Semi Pro mod that I have seen around in this site, since in Professional mode I do not seem to be very competitive at this point.

Also, I noticed that in Abu Dhabi, I have some intense rumbling in my steering wheel (MOMO racing) in the second straight line before approaching the "S" turn, which was not present before I put the mods in the game.

Overall, the game is now much better and a lot more enjoyable than it used to be and I am really looking forward to starting the second season, probably in 50% race distances this time!

Thanks Luke, I do not remember facing that before, but you must be right, since you seem very sure about that.

As for TC, I will switch it to medium and see what happens...

Thanks for covering for me Luke Weston :p

Be careful installing the semi-pro mod if you decide to go that route, as it is it's own database and will cause issues if you have Mr. Pibb's 2013 mod installed. You really only want the values in the "track_difficulties" table from the semi-pro mod, so copy those into whatever database you're currently using and you should be happy.

THANKS TO EVERYONE FOR MY 10,000th VIEW!!

Just reset the game to default, ran the young driver test (to avoid issue) and installed as per this:

Mr. Pibb's 2013 mod
My mod (overwrite/don't use Mr. Pibb's database)
Track folder only from Safety Car fix mod
Competitive Braking mod

I'm very impressed. I was running realistic AI before with the competitive breaking and saftey car fix. This lifts the game to a new level. Codemasters should get in touch, I'm struggle to understand why a modder can do this but they can't with all the dev/testing and even more understanding they have of the game files.

Woohoo glad to hear it mate! Thanks for the feedback :D

Isn't it a shame though? I've even reached out to one of the game's code writers/developers via twitter and he completely refused to talk about anything related to game files (even privately), continuously saying "it's a vastly complex system that I can't begin to explain"....sounds like they don't even know what they're doing. My guess is that there's numerous departments working individually on the game, rather than everyone working together, and that's where all these discrepancies in performance arise from.

But hey, at least we figured out how to make it fun for ourselves right?

Glad you're enjoying it

Οf course, that's exactly what I was planning to do!
I will use the database from your v1.5 mod and just changes those specific values....

I think parts of the games engines are shared across their games so that may well be true that a group of people work on certain parts. Shame though as its handy if your left leg knows what the right one is doing ;)

Can't wait to get home from work for a few more races. Had a quick blast at lunch time as I happened to have my controller in my bag and my brick of a work laptop handles F1 2012 rather well.

Τhat's EXACTLY the point of my article in a Greek site where I am writing (my work includes reviewing games and F1 2012 had been one of those).

You can find it HERE . Using Google translator will make you able to fully understand its content.

I have also written a special article for all the work you guys have done and still doing here with the game, providing a step-by-step guide from the original F1 012 to the modded one, which is by far a better experience.
You can also see it HERE .

Hope you will like them....

It doesn't translate well unfortunately but I'm sure its a good article!

Hi, could you add for your mod F1 top teams on start career??

Check the overview page under the database.bin section. This has been included to the best of my knowledge.
I'm currently unaware of how to make all teams available right after the Young Driver's Test, but all teams should be available after the first season.

If you know how to make all teams available right after the Young Driver's Test, please let me know.

I don't know :/

Just had an odd one. Now I've started again since getting home as I'm now on my main rig so figured I'd reset this one and start fresh again with a clean install of mods.

First race, I'm with Force India, in Q2 in Melborne and I'm in 9th. I've got a 10 place grid penalty from practice (Don't ask) and rather than go into Q3 it throws me straight into the race from Q2 even though I made the cut. In fact I'm in 19th so the 10 place was true but I didn't get to do Q3. Very odd, not sure which mod might have caused this but thought I'd post it in here first.

That would be one of 2 things:
#1 the regulations in all their whimsical glory decided that you don't get to progress to Q3 because with your 10 place penalty you'd never actually qualify anywhere higher than 9th.
or (and it may be a combination of these 2 things)
#2 assuming you're using Mr. Pibb's 2013 mod and the database from this mod, only 7 cars get into Q3 due to the removal of HRT. No one's yet been able to figure out how to fix this aspect with 2013 mods though.

All things being equal however, the penalty system in this game is absolute rubbish.
