Time to properly introduce this new project of mine to you all: the 1968 Nissan Fairlady 2000!

Greatly underappreciated thanks to its immensely successful follow up, the 240Z, this little 2L sports car defined Japanese sports car racing for much of the latter half of the 60s. In 1963, the Fairlady 1500 became the first Nissan to win a race in Japan, starting a lineage ranging from the small 1500 and 1600 models to the big 2000 model introduced in March 1967. The Fairlady 2000 became an instant winner at the 1967 Japan Grand Prix GT Race, and would claim this trophy in 1968 and 1969 as well. Thanks to the standardized parts, the Fairlady was a "relatively" affordable sports car for both racing teams and privateers, and as such many raced in Japan. In fact, the Fairlady was so prevalent, pretty much every major Japanese race from 1967 to 1970 had at least one Fairlady participating - usually at the top.

This first model represents the Fairlady in race trim with modifications seen between October 1967 and December 1968. Most of the cars had a Nissan sports kit installed, consisting of double-choke Solex carb's, bumping up horsepower levels to around 170. Lightweight FRP panels and a hardtop help drop the weight to around 900kg. Period reports describe the car as being easy to slide, rewarding and most important of all; FUN to drive. A heavily modified 1969 race model is being done now, and we may also do the roadster street model in the future.

Alguecool has worked hard to make the model from scratch, while I've been busy painting the car in the many period paint schemes the car raced in. We hope to also get some custom sounds for the cars done, and completely scratch made physics by some of the biggest talents in the modding community.

Ooo, this looks fun! How does it compare to A3DR and Aphidgod's brilliant little Honda S800 RSC? That thing is so much fun, but I wish it had a playmate!

you can have some pretty awesome races (talking from experience) pitting it against the Lancia Fulvia and the Porsche 912, both available here on OT

Actually, the Honda S800 RSC was by @A3DR and @aphidgod , I think.
Woops! Corrected. My memory is.. well as bad as it ever was, I guess. :speechless:
 
Those renders or previews are seriously impressive, one could really believe that they are actual shots taken of a real car, wow! Testament to the program used, yes, but also to the quality of your model, amazing stuff
Thank you! That's the goal, make photorealistic renders for my portfolio. The modding into assetto stage will come sadly way later... In the meantime I started texturing the first livery with a period correct sponsor.

This looks great and it'll be a great addition to the AC car line up. Not sure the year your working on. The 2005, 2006 would be a good guess.

Though it's been done and was supposed to be a AC release it never was. The reason as I under stood it at the time was the sounds files where borrowed and not permission was given to use them.

However the cars did get released in rFactor 2 by APEX Moledlers so would have to assume the sounds were replaced be the team at APEX.


Anyway, I did all the liveries for all the cars we had for that race series, Honda NSX, Nissan 350Z and Toyota Supra. No idea weather I was credited or not but from what I've see the liveries are the same. So many hours off work and research.

Very nice! Those liveries look as good as you could hope for in a reproduction.

It's a base 2006 model. It lacks the extra vents and winglets of the later ones.

I've been conscious of there being a few NSXs around but I wanted to model one anyway :laugh:

The exterior is about 80% done.

Very nice! Those liveries look as good as you could hope for in a reproduction.
I'd have to assume the "as good as you could hope for" isn't a reference to my substandard liveries than more so the lack off a chrome look that the showroom isn't that good at. Remembering that these cars were still under development at the time. So if your meaning the shine, chrome. Lets take a look at that..

A lot has to do with the way the car/s are set up in game. This guy would have to be one off the best I've seen and I've been around doing this for close to 20 years more or less. As you may appreciate I've seen the really bad to the extremely good. Like everything there is a much small pool off the very good to average to just bad.

P.S. If I read it wrong and the comment "was" actually to suggest my livery work is substandard I truly look forward to what is possible to make them better. After all I'm always open to learning new tricks.
