Technology Preview - Time Attack - Top 30 Leaderboard

So... to kill some time i decided to make a Top 30 board for all RD members.
To get your time official you need to make a post and post a screenshot/video of the time.

Car - Lotus Elise SC
Track - Magione

edit: nevermind, people will never learn.
1.23.456 - Hampus Andersson

flat shifting is shifting up a gear without lifting off the throttle...i.e. flat foot shifting, no lift shifting...
I do it because I don't have an h-pattern shifter...pretty sure you can no lift shift the real car if it is equipped with paddles

This is just a fun hot lap result board to pass time while we wait on the full sim....As hampus stated earlier, take the times with a grain of salt because there are already known hacks and many more unknown ones. That being said I am pretty certain that everybody's time is legit, but you never know.

Yeah definitely not doubting the legitimacy of the times but just the use of flat shifting. While you can do this in real life whereby just pressing in the clutch and changing gear while on throttle the whole time, I would never drive like that in a real situation. And it's a lot more fun which is why manual is so much more satisfying than an auto or paddle shifting. For those who don't have a h shifter I can understand.

And please guys, I am not the fastest guy here either, even if the top guys didn't use flat shifting they would still beat me no doubt. Best I have so far is low 1.24 trying to get into 1.23's.

 Hacks in AC already? I remember there was one sometime ago in nKP with a Lamborghini that looked more like a Airbus 380 ... he was so fast that he couldnt break before turns ... he made us LOL a lot ... but i hope people find a way to avoid this in AC ... would be a shame to see it happen when comes out:unsure:

And it's a lot more fun which is why manual is so much more satisfying than an auto or paddle shifting.

I agree with you but that is like a lost battle ... where is competition (friendly or not) people allways want to be in the podium. So just do your best and hope for the rest:p

I cant go down 1:24:800's my self but i like it without ABS (maybe that slows me down a bit ... or maybe not)

Basically if you cheat, people will find out sooner or later and wonder why your pace went out the window when anti-cheat systems is in place.

For me flat shifting gives me comfort, i just pull the paddle.
But don´t think it´s quicker then doing a proper gearshift change with the feet.

For downshifting in a place like T1 yea it´s probably a tiny advantage as you have more control with both hands on the wheel etc.

No I wasn't talking about paddles Hampus, I mean if you have a H-Shifter but still flat shift. Still actually moving the gear into position, still using clutch, just never lifting off the throttle. If using paddles because you feel more comfortable or don't have a H-Shifter that's OK but I just prefer driving it like the real thing. If a car only has paddles, I'll drive paddles, but if it's got a 6 speed Manual, I'll do H-Shifter. just more fun to me.

Some people consider simracing a sport, and rules of the sport include implicitly what the sim properly (i.e. ruling out hacking etc..) allows the driver to do (unless drivers agree otherwise). Therefore flat shifting etc.. are fine. Its also fine that some people have various self-imposed rules limiting their own driving, but that's a personal preference and does not devalue faster laptimes driven in a different way.

I noticed yesterday that with paddles I can actually shift up and down whitout using a clutch at all. I did not have auto clutch turned on because I just wanted to test what would happen when I change a gear. Should it be like that or am I missing something? I'm still kinda noob in simracing but I've learned alot already reading this forum.

Well anyway my best time so far with paddles and autoclutch is just a little under 1.25 so no place for me in this top 30. At least not yet:sneaky:. Doesn't really matter though because I love practising with this sim.:)

Hampus it's definitely faster I've tested it. But each to thier own everyone has a different driving style and preference. Doesn't mean one's laptime doesn't count, was just curious

I agree. I haven't tried flat shifting but even changing gears with lift off the throttle but quickly can give you about 0.2 between T1 and T2. So overall it's a huge diffrence. First i was shifting smootly and not slowly, normally let's say. But later i was doing it dynamicly, fast, and only between T1 and T2 I gained about 0.2, still lifting off the throttle. Another aspect is, and we can see it easaily: in real life with cars with manual gearbox you don't change gears already started turning, yet doing hell&toe. So the rest you can just add yourself... That's why good antycheat system or a system which allows you to use only one type of gearbox is so important. I don't think that in real life people cheat so much that they use another type of gearbox then it's said in the regulations.

You really need to nail your upshifts while lifting to get close to flat shifting.

I think it is a little bit slower to lift, if you execute both versions (lifting/flat shifting) perfect. While lifting, you have to wait a tiny second for the revs to drop untill you can engage the next gear.

So yes, flatshifting is a little bit faster, but the difference is not much, maybe 1 or 2 tenths a lap.

Guys I know this leaderboard is a bit of fun and lighthearted, not a serious competition. So may I ask why all the flat shifting? flat shifting gives a better time, but when I drive the car, I drive it like I would the real thing, 900 degrees, pro mode with ABS on, lifting off throttle to press clutch in to change gear, heel and toe technique on downshifts etc...

I still haven't put down a perfect lap yet with my limited amount of time I get with AC, but even if I do eventually put down a perfect lap, a realistic time using realistic driving will be (my guess) around the 1:23.5 give or take. I do see videos of some fantastic driving and really fast laps, but using flat shifting to get a better time.

Again please don't think I am "moaning or complaining" or anything, just that it seems people really want to get a very good time but use some rather eyebrow raising techniques? Surely we're not taking this leaderboard as like a serious competition?
My time was on PRO mode, 900deg, H-Shifter, etc...

I am not power-shifting as it is not really useful, plus I think the tranny wouldn't last long if there was any damage :p

As for those gaining 0.2 by power-shifting, well I'm sorry but your feet are way too slow, takes a fraction of a second to shift here, clutching and all :D

An hour after practice,

How come I can't!!
