This helps inspire me to get off my ass and do some more work on my own build. I really could do with getting the seat section having all the tactile installed to then let me combine the exciters with the BK and continue experimentation with effects creation of both.
Own rig Update:
This week I purchased a rack for equipment and some of the cables I need. Damn, it's friggin costing me a small fortune on interconnects with the additional hardware I am/wanting to use as well. My layout has inter-connects coming from:
Soundcards - HA6000 - MS8000 Distributor - Multiple Amps
Thus also having duplicated outputs (from distributors) going toward usage of "Dual Role" or for monitoring the "Audio Frequencies" via my digital mixer/ipad etc. Having things connected this way I can see all the frequencies for upto 18 channels and also (importantly) what changes applying more "bass" via the HA6000 does, compared to the standard output.
I have decided, I will only use the digital mixer to alter the output of "Game Audio" and part of the mass of these interconnects, is the ability to monitor any games audio in 5.1. both via professional apps/plugins in the DAW but also on the HA6000 units installed. With the HA6000 you can easily also just plug in headphones to the "Center" channel or (any channel) to also hear what audio it is getting. I have an interest in learning more how/what way different titles utilise their effects (subwoofer and surround channels) are examples. This is an "audio tinkers" toolbox so to speak.
An example of possibilities:
Sculpting Game Audio:
With this installation, I can then do anything that a DAW enables with game audio. This is one thing I wanted my own build to be able to do, as it lets me alter/modify (any sounds on any channel) within any game/music/media. Its altered/output can then be mixed with any of the channels Simhub/Shakeit is using for the rigs tactile or I can just use specific units for audio roles only. Furthermore, it enables tweaking audio for speakers with its own independent mix or alterations applied. I have much to experiment with still and this is just part of a hobby in itself as a side-project.
Improving Tactile Effects & Effects Pairing:
Feel alone is not fully ideal, so I will share benefits this additional hardware offers for the tactile.
I can use this additional hardware to then show people what not only my own effects are doing (regards frequencies generated from combined effects per channel) but also effects they or others create and share. This is why I am keen to work with others and share this additional level of science/research to enable better combinations of effects and their frequencies to achieve better performance. It is still upto each user to combine or use whatever effects how/where they want, as this is only to help us learn and analyse what is happening with the tactile.
My Build Progress FEB 2020:
One factor that puts me off is I don't want another temporary testbed installation. The seat support section will become so heavy with everything attached and as I need a complete base frame/platform built to support the 8020 (and future SFX motion) also yet to be bought. I was thinking it may be easier to build that base section first and then get the 8020 purchased to finally let me put in place my steel tubing and isolation section the seat will bolt to.
I really am at a crossroads as how to proceed but thinking it may be best to do the base section first rather than have to later start dismantling things. I also do not want to mark/scratch the several hundred quids worth or new steel tubing and clamps I have purchased already for this.
