Ryzen AM5 ; 7000

OMG, that's a real thing :O_o: :D
Yep, microphones tend to over amplify "ssss sounds", so every vocal production has a de-esser. It's just a basic dynamic EQ but works wonders!
Sadly most content creators only care for the video part and the microphone quality but not about the basics of audio production.

On the other hand most radio stations think that their presets that sounded nice on kitchen radios would still be great. So lots of voices on the radio have more bass than dance songs, lol.

Aaaanyway, I can't wait for the 7800x3D be tested in AC, iRacing or rF2 and not just acc.
And in World of Warcraft too, which seems to be just as problematic as simracing...

WTF's a de-esser? :roflmao:

Another good thing about the x3D, including the 5800, is it's easier to extract it's max performance because RAM speed & timings make much less performance difference so it's much more plug-and-play VS overclocking and tuning RAM frequency & timings.

I really like Frame Chasers. I'm always confident I'm getting the "real picture" with him. I love how he calls out shills regardless of the brand. He calls out mainstream tech-tubers especially when they clearly are biased in a particular video. FC doesn't care - no sponsors, no product samples, no bias, and always sets up his products and reviews in a "proper" way.

I became an instant fan when FC called out Hardware Unboxed for the way HU deceived their massive audience with terribly biased tests due to uneven RAM selection and when he called out JayzTwoCents for trying to get every one to buy a brand-new GPU at stupid-high prices. FC called him out while informing his audience to not follow Jay's terrible advice, to save their money, and to look for particular used cards & brands. Jay even made a follow-up apology video (probably just to save face). FC calls out Moore's Law is Dead for some of his atronomically ridiculous claims. FC calls out a lot of people who are lying and deceiving their audience while knowing computer hardware & overclocking better than most (if not all) of those mainstream tech-tubers...

EDIT: Ignore the de-esser question, lol. Ya, that's annoying to the ears, I never noticed it before with FC's vids though. I've heard wayyy worse.

Indeed! The not-sensitivity of the 5800x3D for RAM was a major factor in the decision to get my 7600x build.
I was pretty annoyed by my 10600k which was sufficient but the 1% lows caused some microstutter in basically every game.

So I could've waited and waited. But having the option to now have plenty enough fps with less heat in my room and putting in a 3D cpu in the future when the normal CPUs would need faster ram (and therefore mobo) was very convincing!

Yeah it's definitely great to have that channel around!
Not the massive, usual testing and overviews but more really into the important points that come up after you've watched the big channels.

I agree, although:
Hwub are just doing soooo much. It was probably an oversight. Over the years I've never seen them doing anything even remotely "shady".
But sometimes you think "why didn't they do this or that a little differently?!".
But we all know this. If you're deep into your rabbit hole of doing your thing, you end up needing some corrective inputs from the outside.

Jay's video was a bit.. Weird.
But he seems like an honest guy and I think he really meant to do good with that gpu video.

And to be honest, here in Germany, the prices only took one dip after his video and then climbed up again after a few weeks!
So yeah, his video was about 3 weeks too early for German prices but after that one dip, the situation got worse again!

Moore's law is dead is more like "fun news" where you get to know stuff that you won't get as easily anywhere else. But yeah, half of it turns out just wrong haha.

Hope you won't hear it now ;)
I've definitely heard worse. He at least doesn't need speech-training. Just a de-esser and some EQ and it's good.
My ears/brain is over sensitive about this, I know that.
But I still like to give some "feedback" every now and then just to inform people that they lose out on a viewer/listener due to that and it's easy to fix.
Every video editing program can use VSTs or even has presets.

And no, I'm not just complaining. I'd be up to create a preset for everyone I'm criticising! Like the RD podcast, which I ended up mixing completely :)
(but please don't think that's the level of quality I'd be proud of. The raw material was just pretty bad most of the times :speechless:
None of the participants got paid for it though, so they had to use what they had available to them at home)

Yeah I saw that video from Jay and I was just speechless at how wrong it was. Let's say though that I don't hold him in high regard...

Ouch, didn't see that (I rarely notice HWUB videos).

Well FC might have depicted it as lying/deceiving but it could just be simple screwups as Rasmus suggests. Conspiracies are a lot rarer than cock-ups, and a Youtuber who intentionally misleads anyone is putting their whole enterprise on the line.

Geekbench 6, single is a bit low, multi is high. i set temp limit to auto as opposed to 85 previously

Got higher today lol with no changes. I think per core rather than all core is the way to go, sorry if that’s already been mentioned

Sorry for quality of photo as usual file was too large for rd so I had to take a screenshot of the og image

Get the 7800x3D Unless you want the extra cores for other features - it's a great gaming & workstation combo CPU - and want to "Lasso your whole OS", lol.

I wonder why there's a way bigger difference in performance at triple-screen resolution in iRacing than in lower, single-screen resolutions? If everything is the same except a higher resolution, how can the performance gap between 2 CPUs increase?

Like the 5800x3D, the performance of these huge-cache AMD CPUs in ACC is insane.

I wonder how much a 13900K/KS will close the gap in ACC with it's e-cores disabled. Disabling e-cores = increased cache + increased ring/cache/uncore frequency + potentially increased core frequency. It probably won't be much but it'd be very interesting to see how much improvement that would give in ACC - a game that loves cache so much (possibly more than any other game).

Afaik angle corrected triple screen is not the same like just a higher resolution. The 3 screens are rendered like 3 different scenes, which increases CPU load for most games.
Due to optimizations it's not 3x the load though, but I have no real knowledge about how the scene splitting is done.

This is also the reason why ACC doesn't have true triple screen. They simply couldn't code it (or rather didn't have the manpower and time to do it).

It's similar to why VR has increased CPU load from rendering the 2 eyes as different scenes.

Something like a monster for gaming :geek:
Interesting his final comments about the things are running smoother on the 3D thing!
Maybe some of the people complaining about microfreeze in games should check this out :whistling:

I imagine it will be good but probably not worth it for those on the 7000 series already. Some will jump, I don’t think I will tbh

Edit ok I watched his video and very glad he did 4k triples as closest to vr with cpu usage and it all looks great but then I watch optimum tech video and the results are waaaaaay less impressive

Agreed. Waiting for the 7800x3d is the only reason I haven't built my new PC yet. The 7950x3d gaming performance is the closest glimpse into what can be expected with the 8 core version. It looks very promising. :)

I just ran into this video. I thought I'd post it here. :)
Interesting stuff.

I was guessing that it might be linked to the larger field of view, with extra stuff being rendered rather than just more pixels, but...

...that's also highly plausible :)

Meanwhile, I hadn't expected the high temperatures (given the low TDP) but actually it makes sense, since the thermal resistance from the main CPU die to the heat spreader must be quite a bit worse with that extra slab of silicon riding on top.

When I informed myself about ryzen 7000, ddr5 and mobos, I came across multiple posts in forums, stating that their SoC voltage would automatically get set stupidly high.

Mainly Asus, which got fixed with bios updates but other brands too.

Still shouldn't get THAT hot. Seems like some CPUs have issues that show when pushing SoC or core voltages :(

I've been following this story. Kinda spooky considering what I spent on the new platform.

I went with MSI this round as I've been hearing about ASUS quality issues lately. The ASUS board that I was eyeing in the store got bought by an employee, and apparently it died a week later! :O_o:

No idea if MSI is impacted by any of this. I've seen stories/comments that MSI have also released a new BIOS and pulled others, but everything on their website looks the same as it did a week ago. There's a beta bios dated April 14, and that's the newest available for the 670e Carbon.

For the moment I've turned off EXPO until the dust settles. The joys of being an early the adopter. :p

Yeah I just came across that derBauer video earlier today. The whole situation is surely gonna make 7xxx owners a bit nervous, especially since the failure mode kills both the CPU and the mobo (= very expensive mishap).

Pondering: if we didn't have this (freakishly) crazy behaviour where the CPU gets hot enough to desolder itself, then (a) the mobos probably wouldn't be dying but (b) there might just be a bunch of CPUs dying with no clues about why. Would that be worse or better?
