AC Round 2 of 23 Formula Agile 2023 Thu, March 16th 2023

Assetto Corsa Racing Club event
Superb set up Jason, it was very stable and much more forgiving than my attempt, and managed a 1-47-0.9 with yours.
I was most impressed, so I put my setup in and chased your setup, eventually getting a MUCH harder-to-achieve 1-47-0.6. Now you would assume I had the better setup. But no, I was on wing rear of 6 and I was forced into trying to beat your car, bit unfair.:O_o:
I think I would say to everyone here, grab your setup, unless Rasmus can find a way of improving it all.
Just for interest, you were spinning the wheels constantly with no wings, it is only your throttle control that gets around that.:)
@KFMaster
You need to download ACTi from race-department, AC downloads, easy to find and it will tell you exactly what to do. Even I can follow the instruction, and I am at at cabbage level of intelligence.

Ps. I will send you my Data logging when you are up and running.

Jason, if you get time, could you give it a go at Jeddah , try your setup , but rear wing at 6, same as mine, temperatures of 20 deg C and road 28 deg C mid day , clear, optimum , hot lap.
I would be interested in a faster drivers experience.
This car has become an obsession for me at the moment, I am starting to like it.

I just tried Jason's setup and agree that it is very stable. His diff settings are exactly the same as mine but his suspension and geo. are completely different, so i did some experimenting. My aero is 11 front 4 rear which made the car a little faster of course (but not the driver). When i swopped the aero between the two setups there was very little to choose in the cars handling with the different suspension and geo. Conclusion, the aero and diff settings are the main area and not the geo for making this car behave. I also have a massive difference in front tyre pressures on my setup which for me personally i find early turn in a little sharper while adding some needed understeer which i find important to stop the rear braking away with low rear wing, and with the bonus of still having some grip left at 30 mins driving. Just my two cents worth

Thanks Ernie, downloading from AC made it easy. But run into some problem installing -- after configuring the path for acti .exe, AC would just get stuck at start up. After killing it from windows task manager, AC says it can't find acti.exe at the path I gave it, even though it echoed back the exactly correct path for acti.exe. I ended up doing a work around of starting acti.exe manually before hit go in context manager. Other than that, I have got MoTeC working -- was able to log a couple of sessions and look at the data:) Planning on watching a few video on how to use it.

Explanations , when you start to explain, the explanation gets so top-heavy no one wants to follow it.
So I will not try, but just say this
I set it in AC Ui /options/ general/ and tick the ACTi app
when in the pits, I click on the ACTi launch trigger connect from the sidebar
and click with the mouse on the launch button ( orange )
the click the connect button. ( green )
the status button will change from yellow to green, turning green, informing you that the data is being logged.
Now you can leave the pits and it records; when returning to the pits your screen will momentarily flash telling you the data has been logged.
you always need to return to the pits.
As no one seems to follow my autistic ramblings, do not be afraid to ask.:)

Sorry, did you say something Ernie? :roflmao:

I started life being annoyingly invisible, but now I am just invisible all the time, oh! the joys of old age.

PS.
don't think that MoTeC will open up a path into "all knowledge", and maybe throw in the answer to the existence of the universe,
I look at it, not much at all, even after some years of using it, I am sure at some point someone will pop up and show us how to interpret all the squiggly lines into something meaning full and useful.
i just use it as a reference and get averages for some of the whole lap variables.

Got it, thanks Han Carsten. I think I will give MoTeC a shot first and see how it works out.
If you want telemetry i just spotted this on RD downloads, fresh update on today.

Telemetry Tool for AC 1.2

Looks very comprehensive from what i can see.
As Ernie said, it aint no holy grail, dissecting all the info probably will not make a difference in the real world of racing.
Personally, i would rather eat cardboard than spend my time trying to digest it all.
Mmmm, now that is a tasty piece of cardboard

I'm assuming you mean leave the front wing at 14 as i had it. I tried it at 6 and found the car way to hard to drive consistently, for qualifying it may be fast but not a race setup. i also tried it at 7 and found it a lot better but still would not be comfortable racing it like that, it's definitely faster lap times with 7.

Yes, 14 does not cause a problem, even with wing rear wing at 6, I think my front wing was 12, but 14 is still ok.

Yes that is all I really wanted to know, I think your setup will be as good as it gets,
.
It bears out my experience, faster but more difficult, I wanted a fast driver to see if it made sense., and your experience follows that thinking.

I may have a tinker with your setup and see if it can be slightly improved, I will come back to it mid week when I have been away from the circuit for a bit. After many laps, I sort of fill in all the cars problems with my driving and hence compensating for it all.

I will revert to your setup. Wish I had gone for your offer earlier, it would have saved me some time, but I did learn a lot from this car.:)

That setup was quickly put together for that race in the practice just before it, so its luck that made it decent and i have no doubt there are improvements that can be made.

To everyone, if you have a lose of control moment pressing full brake and full throttle at the same time usually straightens the car out saving you from a full spin.

Thanks Steve for share the info. Since I have spend quite some time to set up MoTeC (instead of eating cardboard :roflmao:) I will stick to that and see how it goes.

I am looking for a few very specific things, like how much speed one can carry into and through the turns, the trade off between that vs exist speed, how the application of braking and throttle are used to get the best trade off etc. I am not sure how else to get it without data, especially data from the fast guys to compare.

Some people probably have really good feel for how these things go in a intuitive way. I am afraid I am not one of those. I am hoping data will help me to figure out:)

Unfortunately it is only the data that can answer that, it is probably the reason it is so hard to come by, not impossible, but very difficult. In all the years I have been knocking around in race department not one person has swapped data, except Rasmus. ( I hope I have not forgot anyone else )

PS I use Rasmus template, it is very very good, but you need to ask Rasmus if you can use it, it is not up to me to send it to you.
It makes comparisons easier in this forum.

I completely understand people may not want to share the data or how they analyze the data.

MoTeC is very flexible and customizable, using it to look at the basic stuff (engine rpm, speed, throttle, brake, and steering) is very easy and nice. I am already seeing why my fast lap is fast and slow ones are slow. So no worries about sharing Rasmus' template.

Where I could use help is to get acti log files (*.ld, *.ldx) for some fast laps, so I can tell why my fast lap is still relatively slow to everyone else. Again, if I don't get any it is completely OK. But if anyone would be willing to share, please shoot me a private message and I would be most grateful.

IS markus able to set server 5 back up to make sure we are all testing in the same conditions the races are set in, try to remove some variables for us?

just in case I'm being an idiot.
Of course I'll set the server online a week before the race! (Next round will be 2 races (25mins each with reversed grid btw.)

Markus, can you put any light onto which version of Albert Park we are using? I have been driving around on the version i have and would like to confirm the actual track to practice on...cheers
