Just wanted to say Im glad with my result as a rookie here, but if me and Peter could have a nice scrap in the end with no lag - I'd be even happier to finish second!

AFter a few days thinking, I have decided not to race in this series anymore.:disapointed:

I have tried my best and I feel I am just not fast or competative enough, spend most of the week before practising only to find out I am about 6 secs off a decent enough pace. This then causes me to get in peoples road , as shown by a few blue flag monents on Saturday.

I don't know if my wheel is even setup correctly for these cars.

Would like to say thanks to Glenn for giving me a chance to run these cars and I will be available for any other series I might be interested in.

Thanks and good luck to everyone for the rest of the season.

...Infact, all the cars are the same as far as I know, just different bodies and sounds...

I don't think they are the same; wheel distance (front-rear) for instances and diffuser I suspect :wink2:

Within the class it can be said there are 2 sub-classes, the BMW & Chevy in one and the Seat & Alfa in the other…

You can test this without decrypting the car files, just use a BMW setup in an Alfa (or vice-versa), fundamentally the setup will work well in the Alfa, but there are interesting car behavior differences (implying a different performance) :wink2:

Mark, while the cars are very close in performance, behaviour-wise they are very different. Case in point, during offline testing I found that I was faster in the Alfa than the Chevy, because it was far easier to pound around... :quiet:

Don't be disheartened Scott. Everyone was slow once... You don't have to be competitive to run with us. If you really think you're uncompetitive, what I'd suggest is checking the leaderboards (timing.racedepartment.com), and finding a time that's around a second faster than what you can do at the time, then aiming to match that laptime. Just repeat until you get a time that you are satisfied with. Alternatively, since we're using the same car, I or some other Chevy driver can provide you with hotlap replays to work from, and there are loads of setups to download in the online files in the setup menu.

Don't feel that you need to quit because you are slow.

Hey Scott,
I hope you'll reconsider racing in this league. When I joined this league, I had only 2 months racing experience and didn't know what I was getting into. The learning curve has been steep, but the people at RD have been helpful and encouraging. There's only 2 more races coming up. Race those 2 and I'll try to help you more with setups and such. I appreciate you being on my team and showing up and putting in the efforts. You will only get better.

Thanks guys.....I've worked out what the problem with my last race was....I had my ARCA profile selected in the logitech profiler.....was wondering what was up with the steering.:censored:
Going to give the wheel setting is Michel's thread a try , see if they are any better than what i have.
Glenn, I'll be able to manange the last 2 races so don't worry about that.

One more question..... I've signed up to iracing for 3 months, will that help me get better?

Scott, I did iRacing for a month and really enjoyed it (too expensive for me though:( ) and when I went back to Race series and GTR2 I had improved. It also prepared me well for running with real racers online as the safety rating really gets you thinking about the cars around you:good:.

I know these cars are all RWD. But I was hoping next season would be WTCC 08, and not super touring cars.

Scott: I do a lot of iracing. But I found my Race On skills actually got worse from it. The cars handle very differently, and I find it very hard to switch between the two sims for races now. Especially going from iRacing to Race On. It is for instance not necessary to blip the throttle when downshifting in the Race On cars, but in iRacing you will need to use a bit of throttle at all times.

Also, iRacing is fiercely competitive when you get past the rookie series. A community such as we have here at RD is a much better learning environment IMO.
